Episode 2 kicked off with the girls acting in one of the most goofy mini challenges we've ever seen. They had to remain poised and photogenic while being blown by The Pit Crew. With leaf blowers that is. Right in the face. Even special mini challenge guest Moby took it in the face saying "I think that was the dumbest thing I've ever done in my entire life.
Trixie Mattell and Ginger Minj won the mini challenge and became team captains. During practice, the subject of Miss Fame's performing experience kept getting brought up with lots of shade being thrown her way by the other contestants. Fame told them while she had been hired to perform in drag shows, she had career aspirations beyond the club life.
Violet started rubbing the other girls the wrong way. She doesn't seem to deal with criticism well saying that she "hates Michelle Visage." Ginger hilariously told us "Michelle is going to judge you. It is her job." Violet's attitude continued in the rehearsal for the main challenge until Trixie Mattell kindly reminded her like a first grade teacher "When we're talking we're not what? Listening." Thanks Trixie.
From someone who's not a big fan of the original musical performances, these two teams sold high camp with great style and solid moves. Ginger's team was the overall winner and she ultimately won the week. Trixie's team also delivered with the standouts being Trixie herself, Violet, and Max with fun performances. Katya did her best and bless her deranged soul, but she fell short and to the bottom of the heap along with Sasha, who truly blew it with a major mop malfunction.
The group challenge gave us a mini runway. For the love, never shorten the runway Drag Race. Didn't we learn that lesson last year?
Speaking of runway looks, we only caught a glimpse of each look but there were some standouts. Pearl with a glamorous look I see as a mash up of 60s and 90s and Miss Fame with something I couldn't categorize but hot nonetheless. Max also delivered another innovative aesthetic.
The Sasha/Katya lipsync for your life was a no-brainer. Katya killed the Olivia classic 'Twist Of Fate' with a memorizing and memorable mimic. To that point, Sasha Belle did her best to catch up but was eventually ejected, along with her boob. Next!
