༄ I’m fairly open with pronoun headcanons for characters! However I have two no budge areas! Mizuki from PJSK I refuse to use any masculine pronouns for. If you’d like they/them I’m alright with that, however I do prefer she/her. And Yumeno (Q) from BSD I refuse to use any gender confirming pronouns for. They are canonically non binary and will be treated as such! I’m comfortable using neopronouns or it/it’s if you’d like that, though I’m most comfortable with they/them!
༄ I also refuse to write for Mori from BSD and Vespera, Lady Gisela, and the Song parents from KOTLC since associating them with age regression makes me uncomfortable. And I refuse to write for Elise from BSD since she is not a real person, she’s just an ability. Otherwise I’m all good!

Raccoon Regressor Poe

༘⋆ Pet regression doesn’t really have an age range usually? Just a species most of the time. Age would be tough to calculate with animal years and everything. From what I’ve seen pet regressor are usually a baby form of whatever species they regress to! Poe however. Is not. I think he’d actually regress to like an older raccoon. Why? Karl. He’s learned almost everything he knows about raccoons from watching Karl, obviously that’s the way he’d act! That’s the behaviors he associates with raccoons, so that’s what his headspace will form around and cling to
༘⋆ Poe is already a person that doesn’t talk much, it should be no surprise that he doesn’t speak while regressed honestly. If he’s on his own he’ll try to mimic Karl’s little squeaking noises! But he rarely does it around anyone else, be it a caregiver or a playmate. He just thinks it’s embarrassing! He’s also his own worst critic and he’s fully convinced that he’s making the sounds wrong even though it really doesn’t matter that much. But he definitely tries! It’s tough because Karl rarely makes the exact same noise, it’s usually a little bit different
༘⋆ So clingy. Oh my god he’s the cutest clingiest little thing ever let me tell you. If he has a caregiver he constantly wants to crawl into their lap, if he doesn’t he’s just constantly holding Karl. Also lots of nesting! Not the same as being clingy exactly, but I feel like it’s closely related enough to be relevant. He loves his little pile of blankets. He loves burrowing himself underneath them to get cozy. He likes fluffy blankets especially I think. He can’t have fluffy raccoon fur sadly, so the next best thing he can get is soft blankets and clothes!
༘⋆ Raccoon regression… I have to. It’s mandatory. This guy steals clothes like nobodies business. YES he’ll still steal his caregivers clothes even if they’re smaller than him. He doesn’t care. It’s going into his nest. Obviously he’d like to be able to wear his caregivers clothes that he steals, he gets upset about his height sometimes when it makes it so he can’t, but it’s still worth it to steal stuff! He’ll get very nervous whenever he’s confronted about it though, always offers to give things back even when he really doesn’t want to. He’s scared to do something to upset his caregiver, but with some gentle reassurance he’ll relax again!
༘⋆ Poe can and will fall asleep just. Absolutely anywhere. He’ll just curl up and make himself comfy whenever he gets a little sleepy. If he’s with someone? He does not tell them. He will steal their jacket if they have one and curl up in it, but he doesn’t do anything to intentionally indicate he’s feeling sleepy. They need to watch for his little signs. Also! When he’s sleepy he’ll reach up and rub at his face a lot, trying to rub the sleep out of his eyes and just generally trying to wake himself up. It never really works but it is absolutely adorable
༘⋆ One habit that Poe has not picked up from Karl is a love for sweets! To be fair, it wasn’t a habit Karl naturally had, he got it from Ranpo. But still! It’s very much so a habit he has over time. Poe is never swayed by it. He can enjoy a nice sweet treat every now and then! He just doesn’t like them too often. Most of the time he likes foods like crackers or biscuits, fruit, and milk is definitely his favorite drink. When he gets sweets I think he’d really like sugar cookies! Or caramel. Idk why I just really think he’d like salted caramel…
༘⋆ I think no matter what kind of regressor Poe is he’ll make worlds using his writing to hang out in. It’s safer and more comfortable than the real world. And as long as he doesn’t solve the mystery he can stay there as long as he wants! For his pet regression I think it’s a lot of open fields, room to run around, trees to lay under, bushes of berries, anything a little raccoon kit could want! And of course anytime he thinks of something else he might want he can just edit the book a little bit and try again!
༘⋆ I don’t think he has a specific type of little gear he likes to use? I think he really likes toys that have cool textures or make cool sounds! Like. Clanking sounds. Buttons that play audio? He’d hate that. But he just likes having a bin of all his toys! He can dig through all of his options to pick what he wants, or dump it all out to see his collection. He likes getting new kinds of toys, he rarely gets repeats unless there’s a benefit to having more of it, like if they can interact with each other. That’s rarely the case though, so he usually only has singular copies of a certain type of toy

aka, Sam gives Dream more of a say in who visits, and Dream DOES NOT want Tommy to see him like this. Gogy and Sap? Okay. Fine. Other people? MAYBE. But absolutely NOT any member of Benchtrio. He’ll die. He’ll actually die. If Tommy EVER visits, it’s supervised directly by Sam.
As such, a lot of events go very differently. Without Tommy’s death, Quackity doesn’t have the anger on his behalf that pushed him over the edge in the original timeline. And even if he found a reason, Sam doesn’t have the rage and guilt that Quackity leveraged to get his torture plot off the ground.

Interesting… Having the power to turn down visitors would definitely be good for Dream, he’d take any power he can get. I can see him turning down visits just to feel like he’s doing something. Do you think he’d ever get to a point of letting Tommy visit just to feel power over him? Power means everything to Dream, and Tommy’s easy to control. It would be humiliating, it do you think he’d ever get to that point? He could easily spin the story that he never regressed before. That Sam’s just sick and twisted and forced this all on him
What about Techno’s stay? That’s kinda a necessary arc for Dream to eventually break out, would Sam be trying to baby Techno as well? Or is it just Dream?
Also instead of just a clock Dream now has a million things to burn, he only stopped burning the clock when Sam took it away, do you think he’d ever stop just. Burning all the baby stuff?
Oh no I totally agree, the parallels with Exile are very intentional (in part because Dream canonically told Sam about the shit he’d do to Tommy… things that disturbed Sam too much to describe to others when asked…). The only difference being… Sam is actually trying to be a good caregiver most of the time…

How do you think visitors would work in this AU? Cause like while Tommy gets locked in there I can see Dream using it against him… Also the idea of Quackity torturing him in a nursery type of setting is SUCH an idea. It’s so. Ough… Ooo or Sapnap bringing some of Dream’s old regression items in, trying to help Sam make it work and Dream just feeling so betrayed

Little Lucy + Caregiver Atsushi

𐙚 First up is Lucy’s age range! I usually see her as a 2-5 regressor, so a bit more of a toddler age range? But for this request she’s going to be a baby! So I’m gonna move her down to 1-3. Even when she’s so tiny though I think she still tries to do big kid stuff. She does it. Horribly. But anytime Atsushi tries to take over for her she’ll get grumpy. Sometimes it’s easier to let her try and fail then help from there. She is extremely stubborn, but luckily Atsushi is very patient!
☆ Most of the time she regresses in Anne’s playroom! This is simply convenient. It’s a safe space she can morph into what she wants. I don’t remember specifics but there can be a time dilation to a certain extent? That’s insanely useful. It’s just perfect! Atsushi is trying to encourage her to socialize though, and thinks that doing so in headspace will be good for her. Lucy does see what he’s saying, it’s just scary. It’s easier to stick to what she knows! They’re compromising by slowly being other people into Anne’s playroom, still Lucy’s safe space, she’s still in control, but still socializing!
𐙚 Speaking of abilities… Tiger cuddles! Lucy LOVES her plushies, and Byakko is like a big fluffy stuffed animal! Atsushi gets a little embarrassed with how insistent Lucy gets about wanting his affection, but he’s more than happy to comply! Lucy refuses to sleep unless she’s curled up against the warm fur and reading (incomprehensible babbling) a bedtime story out loud. It’s tough to get her actually sleepy, she just wants to play! But when Atsushi can get her to lay her head down she’ll usually be out within a few minutes. Something about the loud purring surrounding her like a thick blanket of safety
☆ Lucy works at the cafe! This makes her even more likely to crave sweet little treats when she’s feeling tiny. However the idea of facing that many people? Terrifying. So she’ll just whine and pout until Atsushi goes to get her whatever she wants! I think she’d be a big fan of strawberry milk specifically. Or like little parfaits… She is #girly and deserves all the sweet pink treats she could ever want. She definitely makes Atsushi feed her too, whether it’s holding her bottle up for her to drink from or bringing a spoonful of food up to her mouth. She’s a littleee bit spoiled, but in Atsushi’s defense she is really cute! How is he supposed to possibly say no?
𐙚 Pet names! I think Atsushi calls her “Sweetheart” a LOT. No specific reason just. Look at her. She’s such a little sweetheart… She also likes the gentleness of being called “Baby” And of course “Princess” because she practically is one! I don’t think she’s very good at forming words or even proper sounds while she’s tiny, so she doesn’t really have any pet names that she calls Atsushi? Usually she just tries to say his name and it ends up sounding more like “A’su’” She’s trying her best! If anyone teases her for not getting it right she’ll sit there for half an hour repeating the same thing trying to make it sound right
☆ While she was in the Guild Lucy was spoiled absolutely rotten, Fitzgerald literally bought her anything she could ever want, it was a big switch to go to Atsushi as her caregiver who struggles to afford to eat some days. Lucy never complains really. But she will be really whiny when she wants something and realizes she probably can’t get it. She’s learned to be really appreciative though! Atsushi still puts in a lot of effort to get her gifts when he can and she treasures each and every one of them. Plus Atsushi’s really good at getting her things she likes! He’s good at seeing what makes people happy
𐙚 Hairstyling! I think little Lucy loves having her hair brushed and braided, so obviously she needs to teach Atsushi how to braid! He’s not the best at it, his braids are usually a little messy or lopsided, but Lucy is giving him lots of practice to help him improve. Lucy also really likes to braid his long strand of hair! She’ll put all kinds of accessories on just that little section, it ends up hitting Atsushi in the face a ton, but he just laughs it off. It’s a little distracting at worst, not at all a serious problem
☆ I actually think that one of the people little Lucy would connect well with is Naomi. Why? Dress up. We all saw how eager Naomi was to dress up new recruit Kyouka, she has stuff to play dress up. Lucy is fairly quick to learn that if she plays with Naomi, she can by extension get Atsushi into cute dresses. Atsushi is thoroughly embarrassed at the two girls cooing over him, but that blinding grin on Lucy’s face makes it all worth it at the end of the day. He’ll still be horribly flustered don’t get me wrong, but he won’t give any serious complaints

I kinda wanna make a canon divergent au where Dream’s scheming backfires differently when Sam swings the opposite direction… Dream is a liar, and he’s childish, and he’s a monster and he’s a damn toddler. And he’s his friend.
cell being turned into basically a nursery. Completely babyproofed. Toys. Blankets and pillows. Frequent visits from Sam… Sam, who enjoys caregiving, Sam who won’t let him get away with anything, Sam who keeps a detailed inventory of EVERYTHING he’s given Dream, and who makes Dream empty out his inventory every day to make sure he hasn’t done anything he shouldn’t. He’s allowed to regress. He’s encouraged to. But is it worth it? Is it? When Sam is still looking down on him, not letting him do anything to escape? When he realizes he’s getting rewards and punishments to shape his behavior? just like he’s doled out on others?
Trying to hold himself together and not break when Sam takes away toys or doesn’t visit him after ‘bad’ behavior. Growing to miss him, having to admit to himself that he misses him…
You see. As much as I’m obsessed with this idea Cause I love this don’t get me wrong…
That’s more so how I imagine Dream treating Tommy. And as happy as I am to draw similarities between the two that feels too similar. Like you perfectly articulated how I see Tommy’s exile and you didn’t mention him once and that’s INSANE to me
That’s genuinely a perfect punishment from Dream. He’d hate that with a passion. HOWEVER I don’t know if it would break him truly. If Sam’s just babying him I don’t think it would go far, I don’t think that just that positivity would get him in the headspace. He’d pick up it’s being done to torment him and therefore wouldn’t feel that safety needed to get him to slip, like you said it’s what he’s done to others, he can recognize what’s going on. HOWEVER if Sam started off subtle, found solid triggers? That could be peak… I think the biggest thing that breaks Dream while he’s in prison is his loneliness, Sam needs to press on that first, make Dream feel alone so he can swoop in as the savior

Little Shiho + CG Shizuku

𖦹 Starting off with general stuff! Focusing on the little ones age range as usual. I think Shiho regresses down to 2-3! She doesn’t have a very wide age range, it makes her regression experience fairly consistent! This makes it easier honestly. Knowing what to expect means you can prepare for it better! Shizuku makes use of this of course! But I think Shiho does as well, preparing herself mentally by knowing how she’s going to act. It helps someone like her who can get so embarrassed about her headspace
✮ Starting off with nicknames right off the bat! These are. The sisters ever. Shizuku lovesss to call Shiho “Little Sister”! She’ll also use other pet names from their childhood though! Things like “Shi” which she called Shiho when they were young, and “Bunny” referring to things from their youth even if the nickname itself wasn’t used back then. Shiho struggles a lot with Shizuku’s name… Which she hates because she finds using a nickname to be so embarrassing. But Shizuku’s name is so hard to sayyyy. She end up settling on “Sis” a lot of the time! Though her cheeks are most likely going to be tinted pink with adorable embarrassment
𖦹 Music is so essential to Shiho I can not stress that enough. I talk about it more within the context of Leo/Need but it matters with anyone. I think listening to Shizuku sing one of Leo/Needs softer songs can put Shiho to sleep almost instantly. I think Shizuku saying that Shiho’s plushies are Leo/Need fans would make Shiho feel warm and fuzzy. I think Shiho will give Shizuku singing tips even when she’s so tiny it’s all coming out as babbles. Music is an essential part of her being, therefore it’s heavily connected to her regression
✮ I think Shizuku likes to make her cute little snacks! I don’t have. The best memory. But I think I remember the Moon Rabbit story, the one where they were kids, they made some kind of snack that looked like a bunny? And like. Hi that’s prime agere material wdym. Like YES actually, they will make that exact snack a hundred times over. Shiho gets shocked by how cute it is every single time and Shizuku coos over her every single time
𖦹 Matching outfits! When they were younger they’d always wear matching outfits and accessories and that type of stuff. Nowadays they don’t because they’ve grown into different people and frankly. Shiho does not want to. She thinks it’s stupid and embarrassing. But Shizuku still loves the idea of doing it! And when Shiho’s feeling smaller she’s much easier to talk into things… So they have all kinds of comfy matching clothes! Shiho doesn’t truly hate it, it just makes her embarrassed
✮ There is absolutely 0 chance Shiho will be an iPad baby. Shiho herself is kind of meh about technology? Like she can enjoy it, and she definitely sees the benefits, but I don’t think she’s overly drawn to it. However with Shizuku as her caregiver? They run a very strict no devices ever rule. No cartoons on the TV even. The only time Shiho regrets this rule is when she wants to play the cute animal game on her phone, but Shizuku asks to play one time and she’s instantly like nope never show her that again. Also if Shizuku knew about online shopping Shiho would be drowning in little gear and gifts… She finds that idea embarrassing and wants to avoid it
𖦹 Shiho has set the very strict boundary that she doesn’t want other people knowing about her regression. She thinks it’s humiliating. Over time I think Leo/Need will find out, but at first? It’s just Shizuku. Shizuku can really struggle with this at times, because she just won’t realize what she’s doing. So a lot of Shizuku’s friends just think Shizuku misses having a baby sister, or that she has a whole other sister at home that’s way younger than her. Shiho will scold her and say that’s letting out way to much information already, but they both know that Shizuku would never fully let the secret out. She’ll defend Shiho’s privacy with her life
✮ In general I think the way Shizuku finds out about Shiho’s regression is oh so important, so have my thoughts. I think Shizuku walked in on Shiho while she was regressed once, but she didn’t know what was going on? She just kind of let Shiho be and they didn’t talk about it for months, Shiho was in a constant state of panic. Then one day it was too much for the baby bassist and she went up to Shizuku while regressed asking her big sister if she was weird, if Shizuku hated her now. Then Shizuku spent the whole night pampering her and coddling her! She gets so few chances to without Shiho yelling at her… The next morning Shiho explained and Shizuku is just like :( Oh :( You didn’t just want attention? :( And Shiho all embarrassed has to admit that the only reason she hates Shizuku’s coddling so much is cause it’ll make her slip and it’s inconvenient

not a req but I’ve had this thought for a while and wanna get it out … I know not many people care about the sekailoids (colopale won’t do anything with them unless they’re the Niigo sekailoids because colopale only wants to write niigo /sil) but I think the concept of agere leoni sekailoids is neat. Leoni Miku especially. world’s biggest girlfailure flip

I LOVE SEKAILOIDS THEY NEED MORE CONTENT. Overall thoughts, VBS and WxS Meiko are peak caregiver. N25 Len is the baby ever. And VBS Kaito needs to regress
Specific to what you said though! So Leo Need thoughts. You’re 100% spot on with Miku, she wants to be a caregiver but do NOT trust her with a little. Luka is peak caregiver material. Meiko is caregiver leaning to me. Rin is a little for sure. Kaito is a flip (fully nonverbal when regressed btw. Very important detail to me). And Len is a flip, caregiver lean!

I always take requests from oldest to newest! Only exceptions to this are asks sent just to chat or if I’m doing an ask game of some kind, then those get addressed before the usual requests!
Quackity very clearly clocking him but going “I don’t care if you’re a baby, I’m still gonna kick your ass” vs Dream convincing himself that Quackity doesn’t know, to spare himself the embarrassment… ouuuuhhuuuu
YEAH YOU GET IT. I don’t explicitly state it but in my head Quackity HAS been a caregiver before, Karl is a regressor. He recognizes the behaviors. But he’s here to get something and he’s going to get it. If torturing a baby is so wrong then maybe the baby should give him the stupid book
Dream however is fully running on the mentality of if one more person finds out about this I’m gonna lose it (he’s already lost it)
With the agere!Dream fic, it FUCKS ME UP that you can TELL how much Sam and Sapnap still genuinely love him… and how that love is interpreted as hateful by Dream, because their love has boundaries. It doesn’t give him control. They love him as an equal, and not as a ruler, and he can’t stand it. If he could accept their love as it is, if he could accept that he had hurt people, and was loved but not trusted, he COULD get better! He could. But he won’t. because that would mean admitting what he did was wrong.
It’s sickening how he interacts with Tommy, how cruel he is, and how it contrasts how offended he gets when anyone acts even a little unkind to him. Seeing him with Techno made me SICK, because… he CAN be a good caregiver! HE CAN. He CHOOSES to be a massive asshole instead!!!
Tl;dr: you wrote him soooo good it makes me SICKKKK
YES YES YES YES YES. Dream wants a relationship where he has control because he fully believes himself to be better than those around him and he thinks he knows best. When they step back and say that no that way of thinking is wrong he shuts down. For such a morally grey charge he sees a lot in black and white. If anyone says he’s in the wrong he takes that as hating him. Trust is necessary to survive, if they don’t trust him the relationship may as well be nothing. I think even if they didn’t trust him, if people wouldn’t verbalize it? He could let himself ignore it. He could still accept the love. That’s why I think he’d still convince himself George loves and cares, George didn’t visit and therefore didn’t explicitly say he’s upset with Dream, so Dream convinces himself all is well
Writing the Tommy scenes I handled so carefully because it’s the clearest time ever for seeing him as truly cruel. With Tommy is when he does things just to do it. Where it’s not for good intentions. Anytime he hurts and manipulates it’s to fix something he’s decided is an issue. But with Tommy? It’s just fun for him. He can’t help himself. With Techno it’s back to the detail of people saying what they think of him. Techno’s willing to work with him, he doesn’t overly judge Dream for his evils, Techno views them as equals and makes that very clear. Dream doesn’t of course, obviously he thinks Techno is beneath him like everyone else, but if Techno thinks that way that means Techno can’t possibly hate him, so of course he’d be nice! He’s cruel to Tommy because in his mind Tommy deserves it, Techno was only ever nice though. Also he regressed in front of Techno first, it was just another favor from there on out in a way

But awful people still have vulnerable emotions. He did everything with good intentions and he had friends. His little conversations with Sam where Sam tries to make him see he’s in the wrong are very important to me. It’s when I could really explore Dream’s mentality, really lay out how awful he is but still get in his head and show he’s trying to be good
there's a big big difference between grace regressing to a toddler vs. a baby: toddler grace is constantly running around getting into everything, climbing trees and rocks, and absolutely wearing out his poor carers ("ERIDIANS NOT ENDURANCE HUNTERS. GRACE SLOW DOWN, COMMAND!!!" as rocky is booking it after grace who's been on a beach run for the past hour) whereas baby grace is nearly entirely stationary and very content to just be wherever rocky or adrian put him.
so when baby grace gets it in his head to start crawling, it's a whole thing.
crawling is a big big milestone for pebbles, just like for babies, so at first rocky is SO EXCITED. constantly humming praises, cheering grace on. but the thing is, rocky and adrian haven't had their own clutch yet. so they're a little less aware that crawling pebbles immediately invite chaos.
for all the trouble grace gets into in his toddler headspace, he at least has a loose sense of self-preservation. but baby grace suddenly has access to the whole biodome with zero impulse control. and like many babies, the best way to explore this whole new world is to Put Object In Mouth. it's adorable the first time; after the twentieth or so rock/pinecone/cluster of grass/handful of dirt rocky has taken from grace, it's mostly just harrowing.
adrian comes back to grace's home to visit to see the baby down for a nap and rocky absolutely exhausted.

This is again long and unorganized. Warning for mentions of their trauma!
Rocky makes xenonite figurines of everything he finds important. He has one of Grace and himself, Adrian and the rest of his family, his old crew, the ships, Eridian animals, etc. I don’t think he plays with them so much as looks at them and thinks. He lines them up and sits in the middle of them. Sometimes he gives them to little Grace to play with though because he knows he wouldn’t break them (he couldn’t break them even if he wanted to).
Rocky prefers to make contraptions to actually play with. Grace asks what they are, Rocky explains they’re not really anything just little fidget toys and Grace is like OGHH!!!! I WANT!!! so they share them.
Pebble Rocky is very clingy. He has debilitating separation anxiety that just gets worse when he’s regressed. He needs to have Grace close to him at all times. Rocky spent a lot of time completely alone and now it puts him in a stressful and self-destructive headspace. Grace usually has to chaperone him everywhere, not that either of them are complaining. Grace is happily glued to Rocky’s side.
Grace introduces Rocky to a lot of his childhood games. He learns quickly that Rocky doesn’t have the stamina to run like a human can, nor do either of them have enough energy for a lot of common child/pebble activities. They end up playing a lot of more relaxed games and card/board/video games instead. Rocky also shares some games from when he was a pebble that aren’t uncomfortable for Grace to play, but a lot of those are for hatchlings, so they’re generally reserved for when Grace is teeny tiny.
They have a lot of free time on the way to Erid so Grace picks knitting back up after he finds some supplies on the Hail Mary. With Rocky’s help they make a yarn-like material out of xenonite/whatever Eridians use for fabric that he can use to make Rocky things. Rocky absolutely loves his sweaters from Gracie!
Rocky finds human technology SO FASCINATING! Grace could give pebble Rocky a TV remote or a regular ink pen to play with and he’d be occupied for at least 15 minutes until he gets bored… which is a long time for a pebble to be actively interested in something! The entire scene where Grace gives Rocky a tape measure. Yeah. Everything he gives him is getting fully investigated, taken apart and put back together.
Especially at first on the Hail Mary, Grace mostly regresses involuntarily due to stress/fear/pain. The idea of being in such a fragile and vulnerable state while All Of That was happening and he was still missing a lot of memories was terrifying for Grace, so he avoided regressing for a long time if he could help it. The first time he drifted into headspace comfortably was very special for both Grace and Rocky! Maybe they were just hanging out or watching a movie or something and he felt safe. Rocky was very glad to see Happy Pebble Grace, it was a long time coming.
They both eventually figure out what helps each other feel little comfortably. They’re also embarrassing to each other about it. Rocky is particularly insistent about reminding Grace about his basic bodily needs because he has the worst interoception ever. Rocky can literally hear when his body needs something before he realizes himself. Grace has to keep Rocky on track with pretty much everything because he will get distracted. Grace has learned that pebbles have exceptionally short attention spans.
Sort of an Eridian biology headcanon thats related to Rocky’s regression. Grace also has found that pebbles have random quick periods of dormancy. It’s basically the Eridian equivalent of a power nap, where they stay conscious but their body is paralyzed for a short while to recharge. This is generally something adult Eridians don’t do because they grow out of the need and it’s kind of socially inconvenient; pebbles require a lot more rest than adults but it’s evolutionarily dangerous/unhelpful to be completely unconscious for most of the day. Let the body rest a little bit while staying conscious and parents can carry em around on top of their carapace.
^ This has become a sort of maladaptive habit for Rocky, as he’ll put off properly sleeping for too long by exclusively pebble napping. This was especially bad when he was alone and didn’t have anyone to watch him. Grace is helping him get back on a healthier sleep schedule but old coping habits are tough to break.
Once he makes a proper xenonite suit, pebble Rocky loves cuddles from Grace even more than big Rocky. He likes to curl up against Grace or carefully crawl half-into his lap (more like sit between his legs and drape a couple of arms over him) and just listen to his heartbeat/body sounds. Sometimes Rocky pebble naps or falls asleep there without any warning and Grace is on Rocky Watch until he’s up again. You just can’t move a sleeping pebble off of your lap. Also these moments are like victories for Grace because most of the time, pebble Rocky is extremely anxious about sleep. He’ll repeatedly ask Grace for reassurance that he’s going to watch him sleep, that he won’t go anywhere and won’t leave him alone, that they’ll both wake up again, and so on. Him falling asleep so easily is a very big display of trust.
In the same vein, little Grace also needs a lot of reassurance from Rocky that he’s not going to be abandoned or betrayed again. He sometimes hates to be touched and (unsuccessfully) hides from Rocky. Regression can be difficult for both of them, and they are both very patient with each other.
((Side note -> I think Eridians do hatch very vulnerable as they develop their carapace and learn about their environment, but they’re somewhat precocial and can fend for themselves a little more than human babies can. Rocky learns that humans are born underdeveloped because of their large brain size and are pretty much fully dependent on parents/caregivers. -> Rocky got a little too doting for a while after that conversation. He did a lot of intense research about human development and psychology. Little Grace is not used to the constant attention and has a hard time with it at first. He’s had a life of disorganized attachments, broken trust and caregivers that hurt/leave him. It can be overwhelming.))
They regress together frequently, it’s often a chain reaction. If one of them is little the other is probably gonna be close behind, they are so in sync. This is particularly common when they’re both on Erid and don’t have to really worry about being big and responsible to watch each other. Adrian is there to make sure they’re taken care of and safe, and so are their recovery teams if need be (although that’s not preferred).
Adrian loves to carry them both around on their carapace. It makes Rocky feel very small. Adrian has a baby sling hammock thingy for Grace. When he’s in there, that’s his Adrian-enforced “no one except Rocky can bother Grace” time. You need the human for something? No way, he’s in the sling you’re gonna have to come back later. Grace has learned to avoid doctor’s appointments this way… as many as Rocky and Adrian allow him to get away with that is. Which is not many.
Rocky’s definitely the more overbearing one for little Grace but it’s only because he’s worried and wants his Gracie to be safe!! Adrian is a biologist and researches Earth life a lot so they’re a bit more relaxed about letting Grace do regular toddler things than Rocky is. “Grace’s body is so fragile! It needs to stay inside in bed!!!” “My harmony, it’s fine. Look, it’s just playing on the beach- oh it’s putting sand in its mouth. Hm.”
