Austin rolled his eyes with a chuckle before speaking up, “When you start bringing people back to the cabin for a good time, I’ll give you crap for it too.”

"I would never,” Phee gasped. “We all sleep here, Austin. It’s like you were doing it on my bed!” Her voice became squeaky and her cheeks turned red.

“It’s crazy how quickly it all goes.”

“If only time passed as quickly when you’re at school,” Phee observed. “Or some very boring training.”

“Oh for sure!” Dakota agreed, “January felt like it lasted years.”

“And then you blink and it’s pretty much middle of March.”

“I can’t believe February is almost over. It feels like it’s only started. Is it just me?” Dakota looked at the other and laughed awkwardly, “Okay maybe it’s just me.”

"I sometimes think we’re still in January, so I feel you,” Phee chuckled.

Austin was counting an impressive cluster of roses and notes, setting them aside on the table as he went along. He looked up when he heard someone approaching him, “Come here to accuse me of sending these to myself every year?”

“Maybe a half, but not all of them. I do hope you’re going to burn the more graphic ones,” Phee commented, eyeing the pile suspiciously.

“Valentine’s Day?” Konrad squinted at the other, sitting by the campfire as people slowly began to gather around it. “Oh Gods no, I don’t care for that. I’m only sticking around for the extra gooey s’mores later.”

“Oh, okay then,” Ophelia managed to say, trying to sound like that didn’t bother her one bit. She rolled up sleeves of her pink sweater as she sat down next to Konrad. “I’m sure you’ll manage to eat a lot of those.”

“It’s something... else,” Phee agreed. “If something gets destroyed, I’m bolting and leaving you to fight for yourself.”

“Alright– alright,” Konrad moved, giving in and helping the girl with her shirt, clearing up her vision in the process. “No running into trees, no running into anything.”

“That wasn’t too hard, was it?” Ophelia grinned at Konrad once she was finally able to see him.

Clary let out a small laugh. “Yeah, it was, but it was also kind of funny.”

Ophelia smiled innocently. “Hush, you heard nothing.”

“I mean you are more than welcome to go right ahead,” Austin told the other, deciding it was best not to stop them when they seemed so confident. “But don’t say I didn’t warn ya, hmm?” he added with a little smirk.

“And what do you think can go wrong?” Ophelia put hands on her hips and stared down at her brother.

“I feel like I’m being set up,” he chuckled lightly, trying not to think about how his hands were getting clammy because of the whole situation.

“If I run into a tree, I’ll blame you,” Phee muttered as she started blindly walking ahead.

“Maybe you can see if the Hecate kids can make you something to help you sleep,” Clary suggested.

“Then I might never wake up,” Ophelia said without thinking, then gasped and covered her mouth. “That was a mean thing to say.”

“Wow, that is a very different definition of ‘nothing big’ than mine. Stray daggers definitely land in my ‘big’ category,” Mia commented as she examined the wound, trying to be as gentle as possible.

“This was my fault, I should’ve paid more attention,” she said shyly.

“If by interesting you mean mayhem then sure, this is a lot of fun.”

“Have you seen a book on Sanskrit? I think one of the younger kids took it and I’m trying to finish it.” She was assuming it was one of her siblings, someone else could have taken it as well but she doubted anyone else would really know what it was. 

“I can't say I have, but I could help you look?” Phee offered.
