Melanin Beam be upon the Knight Peanut and Hornet! I gave Hornet big chains of puffs because she loves fluffy things, but also needs her hair kept a little more out of the way for combat, while Peanut gets locs for a more permanent/protective style while they're wandering all on their own. I think it would be cute if Hornet wrangled Peanut onto a chair somewhere and did their locs for them :D

The world seemed to be conspiring against me for this piece -- I had no real time to prep, then spend forever traveling, and then, when I finally get drawing time, my tablet decides to stop responding to touch while I'm sketching! But the world deserves to see Black Hornet and Black Peanut, so I persevered via shitty keyboard touchpad controls. Thank goodness I'd downloaded those afro-texture brushes back when you shared them!

HOLLOW KNIGHT SPOILERS: These two are half-siblings in lore, so I tried to give them similar (but not too similar) features, like how Peanut is a little lighter b/c their mom was the Pale Lady (literally her name). They both have gold details b/c their dad was the king of Hallownest before it fell to ruin, so they'd be royalty! I would've added so many fancy embroidered details to their clothes because of this.... alas. I'll have to redraw this when I get my touchscreen fixed!

Ooooh okay!! The Pale Lady wasn't very motherly to Peanut 😭 not that it seems like this is that sort of world, but still it coulda used a hug 😭 I do adore these, though!

Controversial take but I think we more often need to accept that sometimes it’s not personal, but that a person still doesn’t fuck with us. They don’t want a relationship with us, they don’t wanna be our friend. We’re not their type for whatever reason. They don’t hate us but they aren’t interested in building something with us in any capacity. It’s not that they have a lot going on, it’s not that they can’t receive love, it’s not what a lot of people concoct just not to deal with the sting of rejection.
