thinking about Temperance’s family who do not have many canonical details about them … hence why I’m gonna ramble out ideas until I feel like they are less concepts and more characters 🙏🙏
Temperance is one of six children, who are all named but have no lore and has two parents who are. Unnamed as of now but do have lore
Her parents both work in historical fields, her dad is a scholar and history professor, and her mother is an archivist in the university library. Her parents met in said library, when her father was researching for a book he was working on. The time period he was studying (16th-17th century) was something Temperance’s mother also had a particular interest in, so they ended up collaborating all through the creation of this book, and eventually started dating.
(I like to think he asked her out by showing her a book draft where the dedication said how he felt about her <3 their proposal was probably also similar but I’m making this stuff up on the spot so back on track to Existant lore)
As previously mentioned, they went on to have six kids who all have names inspired by the era of history that brought them together - so basically all virtue names.
In order from eldest to youngest we have -
No surname because I have not picked one out 💀 but yeah ! All their names are loosely virtue themed, some in English, some in Spanish because their mother is latina and I bestowed upon her my love of cultural names <3
The kids don’t have much lore, for some of them I have vague ideas about their personality, and some scattered details but not anything solid smh

Merit’s nickname for Temperance is Temu because he lives to annoy her
I have done them so dirty… they need character development so badly
Earnest ,.,.. I think takes a lot after his parents. He’s , not necessarily serious? But pretty straightforward and responsible. I think he used to be more serious as a kid and then loosened up as he got older and learned that not everything was his responsibility, and he can just chill without the overwhelming urge to micromanage ! Like I said he’s married, maybe even has a kid or two, I need to work out the timeline to figure this out, but he’s for sure in a happy long term relationship with a partner (theyre nonbinary bc I make the rules)
As an adult like I said he’s quite chill, he’s not the type to interfere with anyone, if you want a conversation with him you almost definitely have to be the one to start it - to him bonding is just existing in the same space and enjoying quiet company, he won’t interact directly without having a reason to. Quiet guy!! Not bc he’s shy but bc he tends to reserve speaking for saying important things, and otherwise doesn’t overly contribute to conversation of his own accord. He talks less with his family than with people he doesn’t know well, because his family are used to him being quiet and know him well enough that he doesn’t need to explicitly say certain things for them to be understood - but he’s also much more comfortable in conversation with his family, and he makes more of an effort with them ! He likes talking with his siblings, he loves his family, he’s just much more of a listener - this also means he’s the one member of the family who Never gets interrupted, because whatever he’s saying is usually particularly relevant or important (not always, but they still like to give him that space)
He’s kind of a classic older brother in the sense that he does feel relatively responsible for his younger siblings, and really devotes himself to being there for them ! They need him less now that they’re all older, but they still tend to seek him out more on average, he’s just built himself into the most comforting presence possible for them, and also they know he values family time the most - kind of guy to move in to the same neighbourhood as his parents, or raise his kids in his childhood home. He thrives with familiarity and a degree of routine and stability
Basically he’s a chill, kinda quiet guy, who’s super family oriented - when he does talk he’s soft spoken, and I think he laughs a lot, and generally looks content or cheerful
She’s not much younger than Temperance - a year or two younger probably. Overwhelmingly optimistic but not the type to be pushy about it, she just has deeply held convictions that life is inherently good, and leads with that mindset always - it’s a personal thing. She’s always been a happy person, not because of a lack of hardship, but because of her commitment to a healthy mindset. I think as a kid she was very smiley, very helpful, kind of like a picture perfect kid - which was why she always got away with any misbehaving she did partake in, even if she didn’t really try to. Her trying to take on earned blame tends to look like she’s kindly covering for a sibling, so she got into the habit of letting them take the fall, but still taking the punishment. Like, if Temperance got in trouble for something she did with Esperanza, Esperanza would cover whatever punishment and get Temperance out of it to make up for getting all the blame.
She’s big into fairness, and has a strong moral compass, and is not above taking matters into her own hands. She was never the type of kid to involve her parents in her disputes, she just finished things herself. She’s also a relatively quiet person - not as much as Earnest, she’s just pretty soft spoken and also more of a listener. She’s the sibling who’s best at emotional support and advice because she’s got such a cheerful and calming presence - and she’s worked hard to maintain it!!! Her vibe is kind of just like “the world is good because I will make it good”, and she lives by that 💯
She’s pretty close with all her siblings without being particularly close with one, but is more herself with Earnest and Temperance because they’re older than her which makes her personally feel more comfortable being vulnerable and relying on them. With her younger siblings, she does try to put on a bit of a front, because she wants to lead by example and show them happiness and joy and hope and not hardship, which is a mindset she is trying to deconstruct slowly. While she IS full of happiness and joy and hope, it’s not all she is, and she’s not helping her siblings by reducing herself and her life down to a cheerful facade, it’s just a part of her clinging to an ideal version of herself. I think the pattern of her being generally but not particularly close with people is a trend in her life, she has a wide circle of friends but no close knit best friends - she’s the kind of person who gets along with everyone, but doesn’t tend to form very very strong bonds. I think she might have a partner who is the one exception to that but that’s not something I’ve devoted enough thought to to make canonical so disregard!!!
These two were the last of the siblings I made, and the ones I have like , no ideas for, which means I have nothing to go off of 💔 and also this post is getting very long so I am going to skip past these guys and give them their own post later on .. so sorry Ximena and Julio
Merit’s only existing lore rn is that he has a nickname for Temperance she hates because he’s annoying and he knows it! And that is like, the epitome of him. As the youngest child, he grew up with a lot of people looking out for him, without having anyone he really needed to look out for, so he’s got less of a sense of responsibility than the others. He’s very energetic, and seems impulsive but only because him always moving and cracking jokes makes it seem like he must never have time to think, when in actuality he’s a very practical person. He likes to mess with and tease his siblings, and was a total menace as a child with his limitless energy and tendency to put it into getting himself into (and then charm his way out of) trouble. He’s confident, not arrogant, but sometimes it seems like he toes the line. He knows himself very well and tends to constantly be trying to push his limits to do bigger and better things in whatever his focus is. He usually succeeds, but never takes his success for granted, always elated by his achievements which can come across as boasting, even if it’s just genuine excitement. He’s very self assured, and has never been insecure - the only standard he compares himself against is himself.
Since he can be kind of chaotic with all his energy, combined with his lack of responsibility you’d think Merit would be kind of untidy, but he’s actually a total neat freak. Everything of his has its own categorised colour coded place, and he sticks to his systems religiously. Despite being the youngest, it was often Merit nagging his older siblings to do their chores because he hates feeling like his environment is disorganised. Like previously mentioned, he’s deeply practical and this extends to every aspect of his life - he even practices meditation so he can create a system and organise his own mind. He’s a bit of a jack of all trades, able to become proficient in everything he tries, not out of a natural talent but because he becomes incredibly dedicated to building whatever skills he deems necessary or interesting. For this reason, if his siblings ever need anything practical done, Merit can usually help out, or at least advise on who best to reach out to.
I haven’t worked out a timeline so I don’t know how old Merit is - he could be a teenager or he could be a young adult, I’m not sure. Regardless, I think he was able to function pretty well in the education system, not because it was built for him, but because of his ruthless practicality. Rather than going to college, I imagine he would take a gap year to travel and experience the world, and then go into some kind of trade as an apprentice and make a living that way, with some kind of job where he gets to move around and use his hands, but is also cognitively engaging enough that he doesn’t feel bored.
This concludes me trying to flesh out Temperance’s siblings ! Realising now I never even considered working out her parents, but that can be another post maybe for all the parents/guardian characters in celebrity au… every post I make spawns the inspiration for like 17 other posts I am having so much fun
