Realtalk Daw.

Walang masama sa realtalk. Totoo, magaling magsulat si Bob Ong, at may meaning yung mga sinasabi nya. There's no problem with pragmatics, because I for one am a pragmatic myself. I take everything and chop it down to its most basic value and deliver it from there. Pero kailangan mo din ng basic understanding dito. Totoo, malakas nga sa common sense ang pragmatics, pero di lang dun natatapos yun. Hindi porket alam mo na yung basic driving force, you would know what's right or wrong in a situation. You can't derive a wrong or a right just based on a couple of factors.

Matutong umintindi. Although generic lines might affect a lot of people, it will affect a lot of generic people. People that conform inside stereotypes. Nagsasawa nako kababasa sa facebook nung mga bagay na dapat e common sense nalang, pero pinangangalandakan pang parang "words of wisdom." Yung tipong babanat lang ng mga linyang kasing-bigat lang ng "may dumaang blue na sasakyan sa EDSA", e parang life quotes to live by na. Lahat tayo, nangangapa pa sa mundo. Lahat natututo pang maglakad, and it's the job of people who understand the world better to educate other people to understand it better as well. Pero kung puro ka lang generic lines and words to live by na everybody in high school should know, then you're creating a backward step, not a forward one. I'm fed up with people feeding off high-school-drama problems and making them work because a lot of people get stuck on high-school-drama problems. The result? Immature people scrolling through facebook pages finding answers that they should be able to solve on their own, but they're not, because they're unable to make their own decisions. Teach people how to think. Not how they should conform. You, as people who a lot of people look up to, should be leaders. Oo, tao tayo lahat. Lahat nahuhulog sa teenage-low-budget-crappy-writing-love stories pero it shouldn't end there. We should learn from them, and make them mold us into who we are going to be in the future. (Hopefully not falling for that shit anymore.)

Love is always around and will always be a great pain in the ass. Pero it shouldn't end there. Weak-minded people are really easy to persuade, and people persuading them to stay weak-minded and dependent is a disservice to the community. People who make them think that the day-to-day problems are much better tackled than those big questions out there are halting the thought and evolution process. It's true. it's good to get away from the greater questions once in a while, pero please, please, please don't treat your readers as stupid. Everybody knows the shit you are saying, and everybody knows how to deal with their problems. Although they might not do it, we all know they know. Not everybody is as gullible as you think they are. Start a revolution. A revolution to think. A revolution to say "Isn't life mysterious? Let's go find out the answers." not a plethora of "Isn't life mysterious? Come on, let's stick to what we know and feed off it instead."

Bago ang lahat: Kanya kanyang trip yan. Ewan ko lang kung anong masamang hangin ang pumapasok sa kukote ng ibang girls to want bad boys. Yung mga tipo ng lalake na naka +50 albularyo set with matching tattoos na mabibili mo sa suking tindahan ng tig limang piso tas kailangan mo pang lawayan, or yung mga type ng lalake na parang me childhood fantasy sa teacher nila nung grade 2 kung san lagi silang napapalo dahil di nila mabigkas yung "eroplano" ng tama. Pero, kung mapapansin mo, parang in na in sila ngayon. Malamang uso ang sapi ng masamang elemento ngayon. O dahilan lang ng overdose ng pancit canton. Wala akong pakelam kung anong klase ng lalake ang gusto mo. Kung gusto mong maghabol sa isang lalakeng parang tanga na walang ginawa kundi ibuwis ang buhay nya dahil ninakawan sya ng lollipop, then fine, I'm all for you. Compatible naman kasi ang dalawang tanga, tas pwede pa kayong gawan ng monumento sa Luneta. Sya, sa pagiging bayani nya, tapos ikaw, sa pagiging martir mo dahil alam mong hindi ikaw ang una sa list ng to-do nya. Ang sakin lang is, bakit? Bakit inaakala mo aabot ng forever yan? Dahil ba nakita mo si Shan Cai na parang tangang pilit pinababait si Dao Ming Zi? O dahil ba sa kakapanood mo ng James Bond movies nung bata ka? O dahil ba gusto mo ng prince charming na merong puting kabayo na dadalhin ka sa mundo ng Mordor para ialay kay Voldemort para tubuan sya ng ilong? Wala akong problema sa ganitong setup, pero marami kasi syang tinatamaan. Una, it gives "real bad boys"(bad boys na hindi nagpapabadboy lang dahil gusto manchicks) a different color. Like, they're limited edition na pag-aagawan na. Pangalawa, it doesn't do justice to the good guys out there. Habol ka ng habol sa bad boy e yung forever mo nandun sa good guy na finriendzone mo. At huli: it's giving love a different reason. Sa totoo lang, bakit ba nila gusto ang bad guys? Una, kasi thrilling daw. Para daw magmukhang adventure yung buhay nya, kahit na puking ina 13 years old pa lang sya. Naka baby bra palang sila, naghahanap na ng adventure. Pero what they fail to understand is adventure comes along in your life. You don't have to force it. saka hindi naman lahat ng good guys e boring e. You just have to find good guys willing to go through great lengths. Pangalawa, at eto talaga yung kinaiinisan ko: e gusto daw nilang baguhin. Na para bang mutant ang tingin nila sa bad guys, tapos sila yung cure, which makes them feel better for themselves, kasi nga cure sila. Na para bang dahil lang sa karisma nila, mapapabago nila yung isang bad guy. Ayaw na ayaw ko tong mentality na to dahil napakaselfish neto. Na dahil gusto mong mag-feel better about yourself, is babaguhin mo na yung tao. Tapos ano, pag good guy na, wala nang thrill. Pag mabait na, wala nang gagawin, so ikaw naman, bored ulit. So iiwan mo ulit. Tapos ikot nanaman yung roleta. I have nothing against girls who fall for bad guys. Pero siguraduhin nyo na gusto nyo yung traits nila. Na gusto nyo yung kung magyosi sya e mahihiya sa kanya yung smoke-belchers sa EDSA. O kung mag-inom sya e parang naligaw sya sa Sahara at ngayon lang nakakita ng tubig, o di kaya kung magmura sya e mahihiya yung kapitbahay mong walang ginagawa kundi sigawan yung asawa nya pag-uwi. Kung hindi mo kayang mahalin yun, leave him be. Hindi mo mababago yan basta-basta dahil ang tao, nagbabago lang kung gusto nila. Hindi mo mapipilit na magbible-study sya, dahil di nya kinalakhan yun. Pero kung espesyal ka sa kanya, siya na mismo gagawa nun para sayo. Huli, matutong magpasalamat kung magagawa nyang magbago para sayo. Wag mo syang babanatan ng "sus. Dapat lang naman talaga" kasi malaking effort na yung mismong konting pagbabago lang, maging grateful ka naman, tangina. Di lahat ng akala mo madali, madali talaga. Huli, wala namang makakapagsabi bakit o anong nagustuhan mo sa isang tao. Tandaan mo, nainlove si Bella kay Edward, kahit na sobrang nakakaputangina yung vampire traits nya. So may pag-asa ka pa kahit gano ka kasama. It just takes one to get one. And if you do it for a reason other than just because you love a person, puntahan moko, ng masampal kita. Namo.

Kids nowadays are sheltered from the cold, harsh truth of the world. They are raised in a way that would make them as innocent for as long as possible. In turn, people are raising overly sensitive pricks who yell "FOUL!" at every troll comment on the internet. What happened to "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me?"

On Happiness and Material Things

I've heard a lot of people talk about how "Money can't buy you happiness" and in a sense, they're right. There are a lot of things that can cause happiness which are free. Like having somebody to be there for you or the laugh inside your kid's eyes. No money could ever amount to that. But then again, money can buy happiness. Money can buy pizza. Pizza - or food in general - can make you happy. You can buy a toy or a gadget and be happy about it. You can receive a raise or a cutoff that was above your expectation and be happy about it. There are lots of things that can make you happy, and most of them can be caused by money.

So, can money really buy happiness or can't it?

In my journeys through life, I've seen people buy happiness strip clubs or just attain it with the look on their lover's eyes. I've seen people be happy driving their first car and people happy cruising on a bike with somebody dear. I've seen people be happy watching advanced screenings of upcoming movies and they're not much happier than people watching stars. They're just as happy as they make themselves to be.

So yes, happiness can be bought.

So, I'm trumping the old lie that "Money can't buy happiness." And if I may propose a worthy adversary, here it is.

"Money can buy happiness, but it can't buy contentment."

And, then again, contentment is what matters in the end.

On Intellectual Properties and Learning

As anybody who loves to read, I myself was indulged into writing my own work. I've written two manuscripts(One failed to be published, the other still awaiting judgement of people who try to understand the depth of a writing in just three chapters, as if those chapters summarize the whole story.) and so far, I can't even begin to think of myself as a writer, but I'm going out a limb here and appoint myself the God of Douchebaggery and call myself a writer. Anyways, what constitutes a writer? You just need a pen and a paper and write your thoughts and that there is a writer already.

So to get to the point: I was watching the evening news, for the first time in a long time, and there was this one thing that caught my attention. The news scoop was about police officers raiding photocopying machines that offer to photocopy a whole book - which is illegal, obviously. So people were interviewed regarding the issue, the question was "Is it okay to photocopy a book?" and there were, as usual, mixed emotions regarding it. Some said it was okay, especially if you don't have the money. Some said it was bad, because intellect was put into that book.

But there was one line that caught me

"We would be the next authors. How would you feel if you were the author and somebody pirates your book?" And while she might have a nice point, she's doesn't get the point of writing a book at all. Authors, or at least people who write, write to educate. They don't write for the money. There isn't enough money to be made on the business. They don't write to be famous, because frankly, not a lot of people find it really amusing to read, especially if the movie edition of the book will come out one way or another. They write to make a change in this world. They write to well-equip you and me and all of us for everything that may happen. As long as credit is given(which it is, hence the photocopying of the whole book.), it's okay.

Yes, I am not an author. I am not anybody you should hear from your friends or not anybody you should really ask advice from, but I say this: Writers write to educate their readers. They write so they can share insights and feelings and everything in a book. They write so that people could actually learn from them. Applying that logic where you have to have the original book makes an elitist culture, that only the rich and powerful can learn, while the poor remain poor because of lack of knowledge.

So, to answer your question. I would feel fucking dandy. It means that I'm reaching out to people. It means I am educating. It means somebody is learning what I've already learned. It means I make the changes I should, little as it may seem.

If I was a writer, and you're holding my book, I wouldn't fucking care how you got hold of it. Whether it be pirated into a PDF or leaked into a word processor, I wouldn't fucking care. I would just ask you to learn from it, then pass on the learning.

On Life and Fantasies

We were all once hypocrites. We all say we'd "never smoke" or "never drink" or "never have sex before we get married" but in the end we all do those things, one point at a time. Kids nowadays, I feel, are raised in a wrong way. Parents try to hide everything that's not right to the kid, because they want to "shield them away" from all the bad things as long as possible. So another idea on parenting: Why not fucking explain what are good and bad in the world? Turning your back in the bad things and pretending that it doesn't exist doesn't make it so. This is the best fucking reason why we have kids offended by the slightest things. Because kids are raised in the fact that anything bad shouldn't be done out in the open. Also, this raises close minded people. We are getting stupider and stupider by the generation because we try to hide bad things that really do exist, so people try to dismiss it's reality. This is the best fucking reason why we have overly dramatic bullshit on facebook today. Raise a kid who strips naked the world and accepts everything in it, good and bad, and let him decide whether what war he will start in.

The world is a battlefield of things: good things, bad things, things you want, things you don't, people you friend, people you don't. It's a constant battle with real time problems and raising a kid who doesn't know jack squat about anything will get eaten up and spat out.

Raise a warrior who dares question the world and all it stood upon, not a mindless robot that will accept everything that is taught. Raise a kid ready to take on the world. Raise somebody you wouldn't get afraid leaving behind.

On Needs and Wants

I've heard - and quite a lot now - from other people what they want on a person. I've read countless times on boring posts of wanting people inside their lives.

Example: I want a guy who would cuddle me to sleep. Then wake me up in the morning just to tell me I'm beautiful and would cook breakfast for me. They're not really hard traits. Some even just want loyal and lovable guys in all their randomness. They're not really hard to attain. I mean, any guy next door can fulfill those wishes and desires. And what's my say to this? People who post such bullshit are selfish.

I know a lot of people on tumblr might bash me on this thought(because a lot feed on it), but I stand up to it. You want a guy like that? Earn it, stupid. You won't just get your versions of perfection - however flawed it might be - until you are perfect for it yourself.

Also, it sets a goal. For everybody. Everybody feels like they should be like that to earn your wanting. And in the long run, it becomes a threshold, something that you would always look for in a guy. It loves "because". And with because comes the underlying fact that there's a reason behind it, which is selfish in itself. But it's okay. Humans are selfish in nature.

All of us are searching for people we would love because of something they already have and we do it almost all our lives. But it doesn't require that "because". As the line went, it's a want, not a need.

Funny, how we chase around changing our wants to our needs. Funny how we look for our wants first in a person before taking into consideration our needs.

Funny, because our needs are simple. We just need someone to understand and care, all the way.

On Magicians and Men

Every one of us is a magician. Ever notice how a magician plays tricks on your eyes, on your perception of everything, just so his magic trick would work? Every one of us is like that. Everyone of us is a trickster, showing you only one side of the trick, just so we can leave other people jaw-dropped and speechless. We show one side of ourselves so that people will carelessly believe that you are that person, you are that magician, that you can bend reality so you could be better.

So that you would feel better.

We strive and hope and dream that we are seen as magical or superhuman, throughout the rest of our lives, so that people would hold us in high admiration, or would not believe what we can do. We do this so that we feel better about ourselves, because we want other people to accept us. We want to be praised. We're all hungry for admiration. Little do we realize that, like magicians, there are those people beside us, our sidekicks, who know every trick we have on our sleeves, who knows what happens behind the curtain, and still can hold us in high admiration, not as magicians, but as people, with real-life skills and real life boundaries.

Little do we know that there are people that can accept us, beneath the mask, beneath the curtains, in all our human flaws and differences.

On Cringeworths and Pride

It's okay to have pride on a person's life. I even tell people to be proud of things they do, as long as they're worthy of the admiration, but I admit some people overstep the boundaries and they're downright cringeworthy. So here's my almost non-successful rant about cringeworthy pride, and my message to all the people who practice it.

First, don't be proud of what you look like. Come on, vanity is only the tip of the iceberg. If you're much too much worried and amassed by your looks, then you have nothing deeper to offer, which can only constitute to being stupid. Is it because of your hard work that your face matches Leonardo DiCaprio's or maybe even Brad Pitt? Your genes should be proud on creating a super looking human, but not you. You had nothing to do with the genes you were passed on. Come on, if you look good, it's okay to show it off to people. But if you force feed it to others, it makes it cringeworthy - and it makes you look nothing more than just a pretty face.

Second, don't be too proud of witty remarks and comments. Let the people be the judge of what you have become. Don't go around preaching that you're witty or you're smart, because it makes you look full of yourself. The best people I know don't even understand or realize they make a good comment, or rather, they hide their admiration for themselves because it decreases the image. Everybody hates a self-proclaimed wanna be.

Lastly, don't be too proud of being a great person. Your feet should always stay on the ground, because it's where it is. No matter how good you are at a said thing, you still breathe the same air and look up at the same sky. A great person is deemed great by other people, not by himself.

I'm not saying that pride is a bad thing. It's a good thing to be proud of yourself because hey, if you're not proud of yourself, who will be? But please, don't force it down other people's throats. You should be proud of you, but keep it to yourself. Once you learned how to be proud and humble at the same time, admiration and peer acceptance will follow along the way.

On Love and Relationships(and Keys and Locks)

I've read somewhere that there's a story, I don't know where the story was from, that says that humans were first created with four arms and four legs. Fearing what they can do, Zeus split them in half and cast them a curse that would drive them to go and search for their other half all their lives. This story constitutes that somehow, there's a 'soul mate' out there waiting for you, and there's the 'one' created for you.  But it's bullshit.

See, before you call me cynical, let me just put it this way: Say you meet every girl in the world(highly impossible) at a rate of 100 girls per second(more highly impossible). But keep in mind that there are 3 billion and a half girls in the world, and for you to meet them all, you'll need at least sixty-six and a half years. So the notion of destiny and soul mates don't appeal to me. I just don't think it's fucking likely.

For me, forming a relationship is like having a key and a lock. Everybody is a key or a lock and when you try to form a relationship, you're testing out your key and your partners lock, or vice versa.

What's the point of having a key and a lock? Well the point is almost the same as the correlation of a real key and a lock. The key has to open the lock. So you try to 'open' the relationship, in a sense.

But what if the girl's key and my lock don't match? Don't worry, everybody is a match to everybody. Your key is a match to her lock when it was first made. Hell, we are all keys and locks of the same made, of the same brand. We fit into each other perfectly. But what about people who don't really fit well? Well, see, though we're the same keys and locks, there's still outside things that affect us. Like that trauma you had as a kid, remember that? It bent your key in a little way. Remember that first heartbreak by your first boyfriend? It changed the hinges on your lock, and it will only be repaired once you allow yourself to heal.

So how does this all work out? You're a key or a lock, and there are keys and locks out there, just like you. All of us keys and locks are broken or dented or both, but we still work well. We still work as locks and keys, and you can definitely pick one and try your key with him or her. You might notice that sometimes, you can't really open them, it's just clearly impossible, but don't fret, move on, a lot of keys are out there. You might notice that some of those you tried to fit can open, but with a lot of effort. Some require less effort, but requires effort nonetheless. That's the key and lock thing. We all are capable of being with another person, the question is what effort are you willing to put on it. Yes, there are perfect fits, and sometimes it takes little to no effort at all to make a relationship with them. But that isn't destiny. I've found my lock this early in my life, and our relationship needs little effort to work. But do I call it destiny? No. Because I know we both would try our best to keep it that way. Fuck  destiny and whoever she has in store for us.

On families and marriages

Why does marrying someone always constitute to making a family? Can't you just marry a person for the sense of saying "Yo. Bro. Hands off. Wife. Ring, see?" while you're showing your fingers holding the other end of the bargain, or the vows you have uttered a time ago in front of somebody who has the power to unite you. Why do people always have the thought that when you marry somebody, you just have to, you know, have a kid within a year or so? Hell, they even call you slow when you don't have kids after two-three years. I just don't get it. I want to marry a person not just because I want us to have little versions of ourselves, which is a bit narcissistic; but for the simple and lasting foundation of marriage: love. I want to marry a person just because I can't think of a day without her. I want to marry a person because I want to wake up next to her everyday. And lastly, I want to marry a person because I can't bear the thought of her marrying another person.

Marriage is for love, and for me, it stays that way. It doesn't mean that I don't want to have kids with her, I do. I really want to raise a daughter just like her. Thing is: I don't want the main reason for marrying her is because of a start of a family. I want love to be the sole reason, because that just is.
