I like how quiet tumblr is.
The actress grew up in a conservative household and previously considered herself a republican, but revealed she now has recurring nightmare
I've always felt there was something off about Jennifer Lawrence... She always seemed sort of apolitical, almost like she was hiding something. I must say her transformation into someone who cares, leaves an impression. Good for her! Maybe she can help us rational liberal progressives unlock the secret to transmogrifying our mostly apolitical mostly good, peer pressure modified right wing siding family members.
Sadly, yelling at them to please give a sh_t and to please be rational, and to please stop supporting douchebag billionaire gaslighters doesn't work. UGH.
It's funny, my main political motivation is "the common good". It's that simple. From there I consider the downtrodden and generally try not to think of poor people who are of a different race or culture as the reason for all my problems.
Honestly people, for gods sake, we spent a good chunk of our childhood in the 80's decrying things like Nazi's and genocide. I guess the focus was off. We should've been warned against the dangers of nationalism and gaslighting demagogues. Uhhh.
Culture war! We forget about it sometimes. It's been a running theme with the GOP (i.e. conservatives) since time immemorial.

A liberal progressive humanist.
The instant one tries to debate a questionable uber-woke left wing position, they are immediately tagged as a 'hater' and tossed out of the inner sanctum. The holier than thou purists lose a lot of practical progressives this way.
This polarization is the same on the other end of the political spectrum. Hard right wingers work the same way. They get a whiff of reasonableness out of someone and they right away throw them out.
The thinkers are left in the middle.

This one screams '1920s'. 😆That hair!

I love all the 'art deco' vibes in the details.

Trippy. I need backstory.

I wonder, is rave music in order for Holi?
It's snowing this morning. A light March snow. As I look out the front door, watching my 2nd born walk to the corner to catch the school bus--I can't help but think this must've been how it was for my mother watching us...leaving. Each of us kids leaving...
Life is inherently sad.
My dad worked 40 years for the railroad only to be waylaid by cancer at the end. He 'retired' right before he died. In life, he only had simple enjoyments: the occasional couple beers, fishing rarely, ride-mowing the lawn, driving in the country, visiting with old friends, life with family (full in that dimension; essentially the family handyman, always doing something for someone/always fixing something, and there enjoying nightly suppers and family get-togethers).
I wonder what his retirement hobby might have been.
His empty old shop never told me.
I can only guess.
A great thing about my parents was their unabashed interest and curiosity about the world. This was most evident during our family vacations. We had to stop at nearly every historical marker; puzzling over and contemplating whatever it was that had occurred near this roadside pull-off. Driving anyplace, they loved to discuss local history, family history, people and connections to places we passed through. The fun of most traveling was really the journey for them. A chance to see the world, as it is and a little bit as it was; to glimpse the history we could only imagine. #nostalgiaaboutnostalgia
"Smart" bulbs aren't actually smart, unless they have an onboard on/off switch. No one wants to open an app, talk with a smart speaker, or search out a remote control; just before going to sleep.
I liked Garfield as a kid. I had nearly every comic book.
But since I read about how Jim Davis consciously developed Garfield for profit, I lost my taste for his comics. They are so fake and treacly now...yuck.
And now, since I've opened the floodgates, let me say: Facebook "Reels" are stupid.
I guess I'm a civilian in the battle for "Smart Home Supremacy" now. I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a Ring doorbell with the Alexa echo doodad, then I bought a smart plug (💖) and a smart light bulb (😍).
