Hello your local Finlay fan that posts once every full moon is back with stuff i forgot to post.. but its not Finlay this time unfortunately its OC CONTENT WOOOOO

Yeah yeah Finlay kinda mentioned but this is my OC Ed 🥹🥹🥹 I have most of his story written out but he’s an engineer who started working on the rig to escape homelessness 🤔🤔🤔

Some more of him 😳 him and Addair used to share a cabin but they got separated (they still work closely though so what can you really do 🤔) He’s also half Chinese what we think about him

He actually does end up getting infected and I never finished the full design so.. body horror warning ofc

Creepy crawly spider thingy 😳 he’s blind and he only relies on the sounds that Caz makes to find him + he swings from tendrils and makes weird webs out of people he gets (this replaces Addair’s first part)

If he was in game we would never actually see him dead but it’s safe to assume he just drowned when engineering flooded RIP Ed you will be missed ig

goddd I got through engineering in my personal playthrough of Still Wakes the Deep and I forgot that Gibbo doesn't attack you, so cue me spending several minutes pressing the Crouch button and trying to make sure I'm always facing my feet and away from Gibbo when he's yelling not to look at him. Great atmosphere building during what's basically enemy tutorial LOL

OMG YES the engineering section of the game is literally so perfect. The fact that it completely convinces you there's a threat when there isn't one.

Like, it's not just Gibbo's screaming; they also hit you with a neon yellow locker right before you enter the water, supposedly with Gibbo. (I believe there's also a prompt telling you that you can hide in lockers? may me wrong cause I don't fully remember) Such a devious way of playing with the "if a horror game gives you a tool, that means you're about to need it" psychology. Because ultimately you never even need the lockers for that segment, but the locker being there implies an impending threat you need to hide from.

They also do this with the "press tab to look behind you" while you're squeezing through two water tanks. Why are you telling me how to turn around? Is there something behind me? certainly doesn't pair well with the uncertainty of Gibbo stalking you or not.

The cherry on top is that at this point in the game (at least on your first playthrough), you don't know what creature has hijacked the Beira or how it works. We have no idea what the stuff on the rig has even done to Gibbo. The whole engineering section is filled with both urgency and uncertainty, and even after you finish it the first time, you still wonder if you were ever in any danger

yes oh my god- you get whacked with the hide in the locker prompt, and minutes earlier you get clued in about the UI's "danger proximity" visual from when you see the messed up drill so... I the player felt like "oh, danger is in this direction, so I better hide in the locker!" lmao

Also didn't mention it in my initial ask but I love the kind of dialog back and forth Caz has with Gibbo there-- for such a random assortment of lines it sure turns into a semi-coherent convo of Caz trying to assure Gibbo that he's not looking at him and he's trying to stay away and the whole time he doesn't even know where he is except that he's near and THAT'S terrifying.

I do love how Muir's personality and behavior completely flip when he becomes a monster and it sets him apart from the other puppets very well but also it would be really funny if even as this disgusting tower of sickly chewed flesh and bone he was still a cheeky bastard

Still Wakes the Deep could reasonably exist within the Mother Horse Eyes universe and nothing would even need to change. They just drilled into one of the Skinships and turned the Beira D into an incident zone. Infected crew members are just in the in-between of becoming apart of a flesh interface
