Some day I'm going to run a trad fantasy dungeon crawler campaign where instead of unbroken ten-thousand-year dynasties, every time the player characters need to interact with the nobility, etc. I use a set of lookup tables to randomly generate the kingdom's current political situation. If the new results are irreconcilable with the old, there was a revolution while they were down in the dungeon and they didn't notice.
Fascinated by the idea that having a player character with a noble backstory accelerates the pace of political turmoil because each downtime counts as a separate instance of "interacting with nobility".
Historian: and then after thousands of years of relative stability, the Third Age finally came to a close, followed by the Age of We're Not Gonna Fucking Get Into This Bullshit.
Brig Gen Itzik Cohen said in a briefing that aid would only be allowed to enter south of the strip, not the north
There’s a word for this. Ethnic CLEANSING
Peace is the white moderate's word. They would rather have a fake "peace" built on theft, injustice, and genocide than a real, liberatory peace which can only come through struggle and revolution.
During the Great March of Return in 2018-2019, a series of nonviolent protests by Palestinians in Gaza for the right to return to lands they were expelled from across the border, the IDF killed 226 people and injured 13,000. The injuries were often severe, with IDF snipers intentionally maiming protestors.
Buffer Zones came into effect in Scotland yesterday so naturally the anti-choice crowd are being completely normal about how they can’t harass anyone going into a family planning clinic.
their signs are giving
Lmao that’s exactly it.
"I don't know where to start" well, I just finished The New Jim Crow and it has 584 citations in it, and that's just one political nonfiction book. When you read political nonfiction, you're reading what someone else took all the effort you were afraid of committing to to create and deliver to you. There are answers to your questions! There are ways forward! Be willing to read them!
the israel-hamas conflict. the israel-hezbollah conflict. there is no end to the way u.s. media actively helps enables israel's bloodlust and dehumanization of middle eastern people by reducing the victims to one big "evil" buzzword. it's absolutely sickening
While I was kayaking a while back I saw a snake swimming across the river with a fishie he’d caught.
I wasn’t able to get a picture of it at the time so I tried to paint it from memory !
He's so happy!!
Follow Mariam Barghouti on all the things for reporting from the West Bank. Keep amplifying the voices of Palestinians.
the obvious.
this should make you angry. children in gaza have been out of school for a whole year and will be out of school as long as the israeli invasion continues. palestinian children live in flimsy tents which do not offer them any protection from the heat/cold. they travel long distances to search for water. they are threatened by water-borne diseases and skin infections that are running rampant in gaza.
no aid has been allowed in gaza since may. there is a shortage of everything from food to medicine to blankets to tents. this means that prices for everything have gone up.
it has become very expensive to survive in gaza. heavy rains followed by the winter are fast approaching. a tent does not offer much protection against the elements.
help alaa [ @alaakh998 ] buy supplies for the winter and medicine for her son who is suffering from a skin infection. she has two children aged six and four. she needs to ensure their safety and welfare and it cannot be done without your help.

"crochet can't be made by machines" went from being a cool fun fact to being a call to action of "so if you see mass manufactured crochet in Target, that was made by a person and they were underpaid and you should boycott it" which is true, it was made by a person, but EVERY item of clothing you own (that you did not purchase from a company using ethical labor) was made by a person being underpaid (at *best*.)
Sewing machines are operated by *people*. Knitting machines are operated by *people*. Yes lots of the process is automated but you cannot tell a machine "make me a t-shirt" or "make me a knit cardigan".
Higher awareness of fast fashion, and the true human labor and abuse behind it, is GREAT, but let's not pretend that the crochet hat in target is THE problem. Every article of clothing in target is the problem. "All clothes are made by people" is the jumping off point here into understanding this issue it's not just crochet it's the whole thing ahhhhHHHHHHHHHH
as a clothing history researcher in the US, I hear a lot of "clothing used to be handmade! [including a human operating a sewing machine in that category]"
and I always respond with, "it still is"
a lot of people don't realize that clothing production...really hasn't changed that much from the days of early 20th-century sweatshops. the sweatshops just aren't in most western countries anymore
this:
and this:
are the exact same thing. just with more electricity, theoretically more regulations (which are often ignored), and different people working the machines
Zionists are inhumane. They’re not normal. They put demons to shame.
July 21, 2024 - Palestine Action activists have broken into two factories which are part of Elbit’s supply chain, causing extensive damage. One group invaded the premises of Manchester-based Dean Group International, and another broke into Ametek Airtechnology in Sunbury on Thames.
Dean Group International uses a specialised technique called “investment casting” to manufacture components for arms companies, including Elbit’s Kent-based subsidiary, Instro Precision. This was verified last month when activists broke into the latter factory.
Ametek Airtechnology specialises in thermal and motion control solutions for weapons including missiles, military vehicles and fighter jets — including Israeli F-35 fighter jets used to bomb in Gaza. Ametek’s subsidiary United Electronic Industries lists Elbit Systems as a “valued customer” – a connection which was also confirmed through sightings of deliveries to Elbit’s Shenstone-based subsidiary, UAV Engines Ltd.
A Palestine Action spokesperson said: “Without suppliers such as Dean Group International and Ametek, Elbit couldn’t make weaponry which is used to commit genocide. Whilst our government continues to facilitate Elbit’s crimes, Palestine Action will continue to use direct action to end the complicity and shut Elbit down”. [video]/[video]
and then people act like this isn’t genocide
