Don't Quit Your Daydream: Tanner Goods (Portland, Ore.)

Tanner Goods is a hive of activity. A young woman sits in front of her sewing machine stitching a piece of canvas, while across the room two employees check out pieces of leather, and another oils a stack of belts.

Sam Huff launched the company with two partners back in 2006 with a design-minded approach and commitment to handcrafted wares. Their dedication to quality has inspired makers around the world to embrace heritage craft and design. Today, Tanner employs a small team of designers and craftspeople in Portland, Oregon, producing high quality leather goods and accessories. Each piece carries its own story, and every step of the process from design to fabrication is thoughtfully shaped.

Tanner Goods is one of the first businesses featured in the new Umpqua Bank store designs so we wanted to get to know Sam a little better. We recently sat down with him to chat business, what inspires him, and why networking and mentorship are crucial to never quitting your daydream.
