Heading into our third year, we proudly look back at an eventful 2012 that has seen Origami Sound grow on all fronts. We have gathered a total of 32 releases (4 of which are LPs) in our catalogue coming from the three family labels, hosted 6 local events and experienced a fanbase growth of more than 5 times our spread this time last year.
We celebrate our first two years of activity with a stunning collection of what we subjectively consider to be our best 100 tracks in no particular order.

2013 comes with some changes in both our approach and projects that hopefully our fans & followers will empathize with and ultimately benefit from.
Even though we had more financial support than expected from all those who decided to make a donation upon downloading one of our releases, it's unfortunately still too far from what it would take for us to properly promote and deliver selected releases in physical format.
Given the fact that the electronic music press & industry have a habit of undermining freely available materials almost to the extent of considering it lesser music before even giving it a listen, we find it in the best interest of the artists that we no longer offer their work on a free/name your price basis but rather for sale in the "good old" industry way - through our bandcamp-powered shop and all major digital stores.
For your convenience, here's a shortlist of what you can expect from Origami Sound this year:
Remix competitions
As you might have noticed, we're pretty fond of remixes. It should come as no surprise that anything we release can, might or should have (at least) a remix, thus the better part of the EPs and albums scheduled for a release this year will be followed by remix competitions.
Monthly podcasts
Podcasts were uncharted territory for us up to this point. This is about to change. We're going to have a dozen guests team up with labelhead Herne for 2 hours worth of personal favorites and exclusive, unreleased material every month.
World-class events
If you're not from Romania you'll probably have to wait for a while or book a flight because it's all happening in our hometown - Bucharest. Our first series of events, "White Night", will keep on growing in both intensity and prestige, with editions 6-10 scheduled for the first half of the year. On the other hand, we're looking at an amazing line-up of elite names for our newly launched concept-based series, "Unfold".
A lot of releases
The last couple of months have set the pace for what you'll be getting from now on. We're aiming for an average of 2 releases per month which will hopefully keep everyone happy. The same highly eclectic combination of emotional genre-less electronic music will be getting a club-oriented edge to it just so it's clear for everyone that OS is more than meets the eye upon a first, short glance. 2 albums are release-ready, 4 others are still in the works and it would be unfair to tease you with the amount of EPs and related remixes that we're currently stashing.
After his impecable debut release on Essay's Warminal Records more than 2 years ago, Ilya enriches our catalogue by showcasing his artistic progress through "Openclose".
His trademark take on dub techno does everything from triggering goosebumps to evoking distant memories while keeping the relevant yet evergreen overall quality that all Farver releases strive towards.

Nearly one year after its initial announcement, Arapaima's debut EP finally sees the light of day. Split in two four-track parts, "Sun Key" comes out over the course of 2 months.
"Sun Key" is the English interpretation of the Romanian term (sanky) for 'syke', a half passionate, half tongue-in-cheek attitude towards or regarding something. With a mixture of witty edits of older club classics and his soothingly intense trademark sound, Arapaima gives everyone a glimpse into his artistry and general demeanor.
Having a side-job in the local scene's pop music production, Robert emphasizes his versatility and sense of genre-borderless appeal through his output on Origami Sound.

Freely available singles will be put out throughout this year as part of the "Spotlight" series, a means to showcase all the artists involved with Origami Sound for the long run.
