Clark laughed heartily at the image, gleefully enjoying this chance to just use his powers for *fun* for once. “Yeah, there are actually quite a lot of powered people here who fly. Do you know Captain Marvel? She’s quite an impressive individual too. I’ve worked with her a few times.” As for training, he was sorry to admit, he actually didn’t do that as much as he should. People say he relied on his powers too much, but Clark thought it was just relying on practical experience.

“I have met her --- she is.... quite impressive. If there are OTHERS like her, I should like to meet them.” Although, she doubts there will be any quite like Captain Marvel. ( Has Sif managed to get out a clever word when speaking to the hero? Maybe not! Did she dream of one day saying something clever to Captain Marvel? Maybe so! ) “Do you not work with A TEAM then? I thought all Midgard heroes loved their teams.”

A VALID QUESTION   as it had been one she herself had asked upon discovery.    (    For such a literal people, they exercised certain liberal views in naming their stores    ——-   such as a marketplace for walls without a one in sight.    )    “    It seems mostly comprised of kitchen supplies and products for television. There is no beyond.    ”

“What sort of ACCESSORIES do televisions even need?” She is flummoxed by this but can hardly call herself surprised --- if she was surprised by every mildly strange thing she learned, she would have passed out from shock long ago. “I think I will never understand this place.”

“Well, it is indeed quite delicious,” Clark agreed, deciding to drop the subject of further questioning. If the source was relevant, he’ll hear about them sooner or later.

Hovering just a few ahead to lead, Clark soon finds himself needing to pick up speed to keep pace with Sif sudden surge of speed and lift forwards. “Impressive leap,” he marveled and he caught up to her in the air. “Just by your leg strength alone? You must not need to climb mountains much.” Neither did he, but that wasn’t the point. He could still very mcuh appreciate the strength of others despite his own.

“I would rather demand the mountain move than to climb it,” she jests in return. The conversation comes out a bit disjointed, rushed out between jumps, but there is something joyful in the day --- perhaps it is just the thrill of meeting someone like him. His skills do make her curious, and she continues, “Who do you find yourself training with? Do you know many who FLY?”

Kon was caught of guard when not the machine, but his competition butted in to ‘save’ him from further annoyance, and he throws her an indignant gawk. “Are you seriously tryna coach me on how to win? Rude!” He could beat the Asgardian without her help thank you! Or if he was gonna loose, she could’ve at least tried to make it seem like it was hard for her. Shaking, his head, the xenomorph then put on a burst of speed and charged towards the lazer once again, this time opting to dodge more than engage with the robots in favour of pace.

“You seem like someone who needs a coach. Your technique, if it can be called that, lacks FINESSE.” The words are completely bold, spoken to someone who is actively destroying robots with ease. It is said with a grin on her face, as if she is not quite as serious as the situation may call for. “I almost approve.” She turns from his own battle then, throwing her sword with enough force that it impales itself into one of the robots. As if further demonstrating her point, she follows behind the sword, launching herself on top of it to retrieve her weapon. “Where is your CRAFT, young one?”

“ IT IS A FILTER FOR A HUMIDIFIER. ”   There has been enough time spent in this world to begin appreciating the luxury brought about by their    (    still rather primitive    )    inventions. And she does not need to read anyone’s mind to watch gazes shift towards a Bed, Bath, and Beyond bag in her grasp. Better to clarify immediately.    “    ——-   And I was very much looking forward to getting it home.    ”

“You must answer only my question, friend, and then I will let you enjoy your bounty --- ” It is, of course, a serious matter that Sif speaks toward. She nods to the bag in Mera’s hand. “What is the BEYOND part? What is beyond a bed and bath? Where do you go when you enter the store?”

“Attack you?! Lady, I was trying to help you get away! You were clearly surrounded!” With a disbelieving huff, Wally pushes his hair back from his face, chest puffed in agitation like a disgruntled cat.

“Goddess? Tch, I already know one. Sorry lady, but the novelty’s worn off on me. Unless your giant toothpick can taze me or do some mystical mumbo-jumbo like Wonder Woman; i’m not intimidated.” He stretches his neck side to side and wiggles his fingers at her, going so fast it’s just a red blur with sparks falling off the tips.

“Help me get away?” It is her turn to play the confused one now; she looks between her sword and the boy --- and a broad smile crosses her face. “I do not need help, although I appreciate the alliance all the same. You are forgiven.” ( She was always one to understand those bonds forged in battle best. ) 

“And I know several more goddesses,” she returns. She tilts her head to the side as she looks at him. “I don’t understand your point.” There is something close to a pout on her face when he comments on her sword. “My sword can pierce dimensions --- it is not a TOOTHPICK.” 

Nonetheless, she returns the weapon to its sheath. 

“And who are you? What are your powers?”

Barry was not expecting that response. His mouth dropped open slightly as he processed what had just been said to him. Armour? Blood? Sounded like some Big Barda energy to him. “Uh, yeah. Coffee stains generally come out of my clothes easier than blood does, but if you wear red you don’t see the blood as much.”

‘Okay, swiftly moving on Barry’ he muttered to himself “Well, at least let me buy you one? There’s a cafe across the road? Please, it is… uh, Customary.” 

“A good call, and entirely true enough. I simply did not think my red cape would fit well along the street.” The only time she had thought she had seen a full length cape, it had turned out to be someone wrapped in a blanket, and frankly, it had been embarrassing to render her capeless for a while. “I will remember it for next time.” 

CUSTOMARY? She will do well not to upset any of the Midgardians, if only because they so easily become upset in the first place. Letting out a small sigh, she nods. “If it is customary, I would be happy to accompany you.” She holds out her hand in greeting. “I am THE LADY SIF. Who are you?”

At the call of go, Kon immediately whipped the rock in his hand at the detector drawing the fire towards them as he took off. The loud whirl of photons charging rang out from their target then, just a wall of armed mechanations charged at them. He quickly punched through the two closet to him and whipped a kick through the third, but just as he lunged at the laser again, he was grabbed by four sets of mettalic arms and hurled off to the side. “Motherf-”  A loud clang drowned out the rest of his cursing as he collided with the artillery.

He is moving before her foot even falls on the ground, which, yes, she admits is entirely IMPRESSIVE. Much happens all at once: there are loud noises, brilliant lights, and the stumbling force of a dozen machines. ( Here is Sif’s truth: it is BEAUTIFUL in all its chaos. ) When she sees one of the machines grab hold of Kon, she changes her own direction, launching herself directly at the metal thing. The sheer WEIGHT of her is enough to make it stumble, if only for a moment, and she leaps from it as soon as it does. “Hurry on now!” she calls. “Victory awaits!”

Barry rushed round the corner with two coffees in his hand. This wasn’t his first time in this city but he had managed to get himself lost for a bit and now he was late to his meeting at the forensic department. At least he found that amazing cafe with a dope two for one deal whilst lost. 

He was now too busy trying to recall if he had collected his change, watching the traffic and looking for street names that he didn’t see the other person waiting to cross the road and smacked right into them, causing one of the coffees to drop and splatter the others shoes. 

“Shit shit! Sorry!” He said as he knelt down to quickly pick up the cup. “Here, you can have this one. Shit! Sorry. I hope they weren’t gucci or something. That would really have ruined your day.” 

It is strange --- to be somewhere so near to Thor and to be left wandering the streets all the same. ( To be without A MISSION is stranger than being without her friends. ) It has given her plenty of time to explore this world, to see it in all its horrifying glory. And perhaps that is why ( her boredom and her curiosity ) she finds herself at the crosswalk, obeying traffic laws in an antiquated city that used such strange devices as cars. Perhaps that is why she was in the pathway of the equally distracted man who proceeded to spill his coffee directly on her shoes. 

“It is CUSTOMARY to shine the armor if you are the one who dirtied it,” she teases, leaning down to wipe the end of her sleeve on the silver boots. “But luckily, coffee comes out easier than blood.” She straightens up, giving a firm nod. At least her boots still gleam in the morning light. “If I accept your offer, you will be without a drink. Please, keep it. It seems you need it more.”

“Is that — a common occurrence?” The sound of it is enough to capture Sif’s attention, but she is skeptical all the same. She tilts her head to the side, eyeing the young woman curiously. “Who is BAKING such a thing?“

Clark was decidedly amused at the mention of the pizza. “Yeah? Who taught you that?” It wasn’t incorrect per se, but such a claim seemed to have a distinct tinge of childishness he recognized. Perhaps this friend of Sif’s knew him as well. “I mean, they’re not wrong, pizza with extra cheese is pretty wonderful, but I’m curious about how this particular fact ended up in your repertoire.”

“This way,” he gestured excitedly as he floated back up into the air. There was a secluded but wide stretch of wild grass a couple of miles in the direction he was pointing. Shouldn’t take them long at all to get there, if Sif flew anything like Thor.

“The people of Earth, of course.” It was one of the first dishes she dined on here --- and one of the only dishes since. The Warriors Three always demanded she bring it back with her when she returned from the planet. “It is one of my favorite things about your home.” 

She watches him take to the air, marveling at the easy way he flies. It is far from how Thor flies: throwing his hammer and letting the force of it carry him away. Kal-El seems to fly by letting the very air move him, and it is marvelous in a way she cannot describe. Determined to keep up all the same, Sif begins sprinting as fast as she can, finally leaping into the air with the full of her strength --- it does not allow her to fly, but, for a long moment, she remains in the air all the same, moving quickly in the right direction.

“Most do.”  Sif does not recognize the other woman --- but she does recognize that the stranger is not from this planet. In truth, it is a RELIEF to find someone not from this world. ( It does not mean that Sif is trusting; travelers to other worlds always had a cause. ) “I am THE LADY SIF of Asgard --- where do you come from?”

THERE’S SOMETHING TO BE SAID   about how insignificant this must all seem.    (    Though she has yet to get Thor to admit as much.    )    Stars holding something beyond the petty disputes of governments.    “    For some time,   ”    she agrees, smile unfazed.    “   I’m still here.    ——-    A little surprising to be the one that stuck around, but still here.    ”    

“I am GLAD to see that you have --- stuck around, I mean.” It is strangely nice to see a familiar face here, to see someone who is LOYAL to such a cause. ( It is always these moments that reminds Sif that Midgard is not a complete loss. ) “If you need assistance at all, I hope you will call on me while I am here. I am a friend to you and to your team, whoever they may be now. SEND A RAVEN my way, and I will come to your aid.”

he can’t help himself. the minute a SWORD presents,  those baby blue eyes are darting for the location of his own weapon. arthur was made well aware that a skirmish would take place between the pair,  but he was entirely unsure whether they’d be armed throughout. and what that might entail when both chose such distinct objects as the deadly extension of their arm. a breath is released in half - sigh of relief,  unknowingly holding it in as he takes to his feet.  “  aw c’mon. i may look pretty but i’m not gonna break. anything below your best is insultin’.  ”

arthur couldn’t keep the guffaw swallowed,  “  hate to disappoint but most of this was self taught. you should see my protegee’s instead,  they’re far more adept at traditional atlantean combat. one’s been at it since he was a child.  ”  a fact she’d become incredibly AWARE of given his proclivity towards defense rather than attack. still he humors sif’s gesture,  charging forward with a solid one - two maneuver aiming one palm at her shoulder and the other at her rib cage.   

“You seem rather FRAGILE to me, fish king.” Is that the beginning of teasing that leaves her? If she is being truthful, the TALK is just as important in training as the fight itself. 

She is curious to see such a different battle tactic as Atlantean in play; she has only seen the work of humans on the surface, and it left her much to be desired in terms of eloquence. ( And there was an eloquence to fighting, make no mistake; it is present even in Arthur’s charge. ) 

Sif is still until Arthur has almost reached her. She does not move to the left nor right --- instead, she leaps upward, placing her own hand on Arthur’s shoulder to propel herself over him. ( It becomes clear rather rapidly that Sif enjoys fighting and enjoys showing off while fighting. ) As soon as she lands behind him, she gives him a firm KICK to the back, continuing his momentum forward.

“–Oof!” The sharp impact on his sternum is unexpected. Wally’s so thrown off guard that he stumbles and slams into a wall. The building shudders and there’s definitely a crater in the structure behind him as the speedster rubs what he knows will definitely be a bruise and probably a cracked rib. Just who the hell is this chick? Looking up at her words, his brow furrows and he tenses. He’s wary himself, though the way the woman prowls definitely resembles a certain Amazonian Princess he knows. “Easy, lady- I was just trying to help.” He grits his teeth as he stands up straight and shakes off the debris covering him with a quick full-body vibration. “But if you wanna play that kind of game, I’m pretty sure I can return the favor by rearranging your insides with that giant knife in your hands.”

“If you were trying to HELP, as you say --- ” Even the way he stands still is fast, and it seems exhilarating in a way she cannot quite word yet. ( She knows of Earth’s mightiest heroes; she does not know of any like him. ) Nonetheless, she grips her sword tightly. “Then why attack ME, and not the others?” 

His next words make all the same sounds as A THREAT, and it only makes her grin --- how many times has she heard such similar threats? How many times had she proved them false? “I am LADY SIF, goddess of war. You will not wield my weapon.” She stalks closer. If he is QUICK, if he is an enemy after all, she will simply have to be more clever. “You may certainly try.”

“  so what you’re saying is … don’t tempt you with a good time.  ”  finally,  FINALLY it’s referenced within her sphere of reality. sif seems a conundrum : curious as she was,  there were hard defined lines about her. taking this weapon for instance, how she practically glowed with pride as it found itself lodged ( by NO responsibility or fault of jessica’s ) into door frame after chats about museums. did asgard even have a use for museums ?  “ i’ll take on anything you throw at me. no guarantees i can do that, ” with nod to the casual manner in which sif plays with her spear. “ but if it’s showmanship you’re after, i can absolutely fake it to your liking. ”

“I have a feeling there will be no need for faking it.” Sif rests the spear on her shoulder and walks directly out the door, scouting out a ( relatively ) safe place to practice. Outside, for as limited a space as it was, would have to do; at least there were no door frames to impale. “What is your weapon of choice then?” She pulls out her own sword, letting the light catch it. “This can tear a way to other dimensions; it is my great pride to wield it.”
