And Alan approaches from the sitting room with a glass in his hand. Heās looking gorgeous, he was a very good looking man. Iām standing there and i thinkĀ āOh heās going to come and kiss me!ā I pucker, I donāt close my eyes quite because I want to see, I want to feel the whole moment. He comes towards me andā¦His eyes narrow, he leans in and I thinkĀ āItās happening! Itās happening!ā Then he reached down to my chinā¦and pulled a long hair, out of my face. He looked and it and he saidĀ āDo you know, I think thatās an incipient beard.ā and walked off! Never got a kiss!ā¦You didnāt know whether he was going to kiss you or upset you. That was the pointā¦ Thereās a scene in this film (Sense and Sensibility) where Elinor saysĀ āHeās the kindest and best of men.ā And thatās the best description I can give of my friend, Alan Rickman.ā
