āNo, I wonāt be doing any fucking shows right now. Now leave it the fuck alone, faggot!ā
āI wasnāt asking for you to do a show. I was asking if you were alright, but I would suppose that would answer my question.ā
do you ever go star gazing?
āOccasionally. Not at these temperatures, though.ā
Sheās looking out of the flower shopās window with small binoculars. Whenever itās a slow day, this is what Margaret does while she lets Ivan and Oscar do all the work.Ā āSomethingās going on outside,ā she says out loud, thinking she was alone.
Orion looked up from the flowers he was deciding over for opening night. It was a while away, but heād certainly needed a break from the mess that was the community theatre. He shrugged a bit at Margaretās statement.Ā āI wouldnāt be surprised. What is it this time?ā he asked.
"Orion, if you don't put me in the costume contest as a judge, this contest is going to become the travesty of Aldyria."
Ā Ā ā³ ā I was under the impression it would be regardless of your involvement, but if you want your name added to the list involved when people look back on this day in history with mockery, who am I to stop you?

Ā Ā Ā ā ā Dead, dying, or otherwise spreading unsavory words about our lack of tolerance. Thereās a joke in there somewhere. ā
Ā Ā ā³ ā There is, but itās no less true. Why is October such a difficult month?
biancatonic
āWell fuck them, favourites are what get you more money. Tch. Yeah. For once, I am.ā
Ā Ā ā³ ā Unfortunately, they account for the loss of revenue in the community budget. I promise I wonāt get too used to it.
biancatonic
āThank god.Ā I was about to start questioning your sanity. ..If you want my opinion, Christine is your best choice out of the females.ā Chris nodded, arms folded underneath his chin, which rest upon the back of the chair next to the director. Christineād better polish his shoes if she got the job.
Ā Ā ā³ ā I know. She gets most leads. The community theatre is merely a different story. They donāt wish for me to pick favorites.ā Itās really tacky though when the chorus is better than the leads. Heās never quite figured out how heās gotten roped into the community theatre every year.Ā āAt least I know someoneās on my side.ā
biancatonic
āHoooo. I hope by ourĀ youāre not saying you gave him the roleā¦.ā
Ā Ā ā³ ā I wish that was the case, but the last time I casted for community the way I wished they werenāt pleased with a cast of two. But I must say, Miss Foster and Mr. Stephenson did a fantastic job.
elenasstone
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā ā I would say āif onlyā, but something tells me even that wouldnāt solve my frustration. I donāt think either of us are qualified for those jobs anyhow. ā
Ā Ā ā³ ā It was worth a shot. But youāre right. Iām sure multiple people would be dead in the end should we switch our roles.
biancatonic
āSo, uh. Where areĀ theseĀ ātoo many auditionsā, then?ā
Ā Ā ā³ ā Come and gone. I have to allow everyone in. Our Warbucks auditioned with a monologue from Spongebob Squarepants.
elenasstone
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā ā Truthfully Iād prefer if you didnāt give me more work than I already have. ā
Ā Ā ā³ ā Now thatās why I was suggesting an exchange. You handle auditions, I handle your case load.
biancatonic
āAnd you wonder why you barelyĀ get any auditions.ā
Ā Ā ā³ ā On the contrary. I get too many auditions.

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āĀ When he stepped to the side, her heart pounded in her chest. She nodded slowly, unable to speak, keeping her arms uncomfortably at her side as she stepped into his home. It was beautiful. Everything was perfect - it was all so⦠him. So domestic. Lizzie wondered if she looked as out of place as she felt - like she didnāt belong. A stain on the home that Orion had made in a new place, a reminder of the past, of betrayal. But some part of her - perhaps it was the selfish part of her - couldnāt imagine herself anywhere else. And suddenly she was struck by how different things could have been if sheād gone with him. The chance that in another world, their last twelve years could have been spent in this home together. Maybe by now there would be a child, or children.
Ā Ā Ā The image crossed her mind and she swallowed an emotional lurch in her throat. Elizabeth put her hand over her mouth, willing herself to stop the urge to cry, keeping her back turned towards Orion - but she knew, now, that she wouldnāt be able to do that for long. Heād proven just moments ago that he still knew her better than anyone in the world. So she dropped her hand and turned to face him, keeping her breathing as steady as she could. She was again struck by the fact that she was really seeing him again - that he was standing there, in front of her, just out of physical reach. He looked just the same, a few wisps of grey hair being the only notable indication of age since heād left.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā I didnāt know, ā she said suddenly, unsurprised by the tremor in her voice, unconcerned with her inability to stop her eyes from watering.Ā ā I didnāt know that would be it. I didnāt know that I would wake up and find you⦠ā she trailed off, not allowing herself to look down - and not wanting to. She had to face him for what she had done, and there was a part of her that was afraid that once he was out of sight things would fall apart.Ā ā And I couldnāt take it back. ā
Ā Ā ā³ Orion closed the door behind Elizabeth after she was inside. Then he turned so his back was to the door. Maybe it was better for him to find the right feelings if he could see what she was seeing, but all he could see was her standing in his house. It was an image he never expected to see but it felt so right. Heād dreamed so many times about her being there and even though it had been twelve years, it hadnāt been twelve years too late. He could see everything like it could be real. Before it was only dreams about their children running up and down the steps to his right, Oliverās were what he expected to be the reality. He was so afraid of thinking too far ahead of himself, but heād never thought this moment was possible.
His attention was brought back to her when she turned towards him. Reality set in and it was far more complicated than pretending twelve years never existed like heād been doing while he was living them. It was in the matter of moments since heād seen her, that he was starting to realize how much he wasnāt feeling. And now he was afraid of losing feeling again. He wanted to look down, break eye-contact because he knew his feelings were in his eyes and he felt laid bare by that. But if by chance this was some lucid dream he didnāt want to miss it.Ā
The words stung, but not in a way she meant. He was sure she didnāt mean to hurt him at all by saying them Elizabeth wasnāt spiteful like that. He stepped forward breaking their distance a little. ā I hadnāt realized until Oliver and I were on the plane that I wouldnāt be waking up in England. That I wouldnāt see you in the morning.ā He couldnāt change a thing either. Were there other words he couldāve said. Heād gone through that conversation so many times and he hadnāt been able to find the right words to get her to come with. Maybe the scenarios were missing her actual reaction, but he no idea.Ā āThere isnāt a moment I havenāt thought about what could have changed.ā
Ā Ā ā³ ā Iāve become accustomed to using the community theatre auditions as an excuse for not caring at all about the regular lives in this town, but thatās really just a lie. I really donāt care at all about what whoever their name was had for coffee.
Ā Ā Ā āĀ She knew what had crossed his mind the moment his stance stiffened. Despite the fact that it had crossed her mind, despite the fact that she had kept her hands visible to show to the best of her ability that she meant no harm, it struck her how feasible it would have been. Arthur had always loved an artful way of living - thatās why he most often chose who he did for certain missions. He loved that final word, treating everything like Shakespeare. It wouldnāt have been hard for anyone, even Orion, to believe that Arthur would send Elizabeth if heād discovered that he was still alive. It wouldnāt have been hard for anyone, even Orion, to imagine her doing exactly as she was told.
Ā Ā Ā For just a moment, no matter how brief, he had wondered. He suspected that Camelot had discovered him and sent her to kill him. He suspected that she would do it. Some kind of poetic justice.
Ā Ā Ā What he didnāt know was that there wasnāt a person or being in the universe who could make her kill him. Those twelve years hadnāt changed anything.Ā She would burn down the earth before killing him. She would turn her gun on all of Camelot and herself before turning it on him. Even if they had tried to feed her lies, convince her that he deserved to die, she could never do it. She would never do it. She wouldnāt even consider it.
Ā Ā Ā Especially when she saw that flash of a smile, and she felt her heart pound.
Ā Ā Ā And she should have known better than to believe that she could pretend everything was fine. He had always known her better than anyone in the world, and it shouldnāt have come as a surprise that he still seemed to, even past her attempt at a casual pretense. She tried to hold their eye contact, but the worried look he gave her made the sickness come back, and she looked down.
Ā Ā Ā He had no reason to believe whatever she told him in that moment. Every scenario that went through her mind had never gotten farther than laying eyes on each other, and even then, the image had been vague. The only thing she could clearly make out of those scenarios was his anger, and she would have gladly accepted it. She hadnāt prepared for concern.
Ā Ā Ā Again, she found herself incapable of searching for whatever words there were the right ones. ā I, um⦠I needed to see you again, ā she said slowly, surprised at how it sounded. Sheād always had a strong personality, but that - that was a voice she hadnāt heard since she was much, much younger. ā I thought about what you said that night. Every day. And⦠ā she trailed off, not sure how to continue, and let out a slow breath.
Ā Ā ā³ Admittedly, Orion wasnāt quite sure what to expect as a response. It had been twelve years. So much had changed. So much should have changed according to the laws of life. But here they were. The feelings at least on his end hadnāt changed, just like the last words theyād said to each other wouldnāt. Could things remain so stagnant for twelve years. You could look at his job, his brother. Things had changed a lot in that department. They both looked a little different. He had several greys near his temples, but the things that made them them were still there. Thatās what complicated this the most.
ā What I said...ā he started. The silence between what sheād said and him getting something prepared to say was lasting too long. Silences were suffocating, but stumbling over words heād more successfully gotten through in his dreams was disgusting sounding. He couldāve directed this scene easily standing back from it, but being the player in the scene, he was lost without himself guiding the way through his lines.
Among it all, he became very aware they were in the doorway still. Glanced behind her, but there wasnāt anything to be found. He wasnāt sure if he was expecting to see someone ready to kill the both of them or a nosy neighbor gawking.Ā āWhy donāt you come in?ā he questioned stepping off to the side.

Ā Ā Ā Ā ā Elizabeth had been trying to think about how she would approach him since she got on the plane the morning before, and was met with little success. Whenever she got as far as seeing his face again, her stomach dropped and the fear of breaking dragged her back to the present, preventing her from getting much farther. Elizabeth Thorne had done astounding things. She had killed handfuls upon handfuls of people, she had saved hundreds of lives, she had successfully spied on some of the most dangerous people in England - but the minute she tried to imagine herself facing Archie for the first time in twelve years, she felt more fear than sheād ever felt in her life.
Ā Ā Ā Ā As she made her way to his front door, she gave up trying to think of what she should say. There was nothing she could say. Twelve years ago heād asked her to come with him, and she stayed - and now all that time was lost. He had no reason to forgive her, so she wouldnāt ask for forgiveness. She wouldnāt ask for anything. She didnāt deserve it. She just had to see him. All the fear or guilt in the world wouldnāt be able to stifle that need.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Elizabeth knocked three times and took a step back, resisting the urge to put her hands in her pockets. After all, he was supposed to be dead, and seeing an agent at his door might have raised suspicion of a threat, and thatās the last thing she wanted. She was far from a threat. Just a ghost, she thought, and as this thought crossed her mind, the door opened.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Elizabethās heart skipped a beat when she saw him, and for a moment, she couldnāt bring herself to do anything but stare. And then he said her name. Lizzie.Ā Heād been the first person to shorten her name to Lizzie, and she made sure he was the last. Very few had tried to call her Lizzie after his disappearance, but those who had had been instantly shut down. Her chest tightened.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Iām sorry. Iām sorry Iām sorry Iām sorry.
Ā Ā Ā Instinct kicked in. She tried to do what sheād been trained to do when she was nineteen years old. Through the temptation to cry, Lizzie tried to smile. I miss you. I love you. Iām sorry. ā Orion suits you. ā
Ā Ā ā³ Thoughts were going through Orionās head miles and miles at a time. Twelve years had changed so much and so little at the same time. It didnāt take long for the feelings to come back. It was as simple as uttering her name. Nothing had changed there. Nothing at all. The feelings heād tried so hard to bury and ignore were always right there. Maybe that was why he hadnāt moved on like Oliver had suggested once or twice.
It was almost pleasant to know that was the reason, but it was also sad at the same time. How many years had he been carrying on like that? Of course there was nothing he could change, heād done what he had to do, but there was still this regret he felt. A regret that was spreading like a virus though him. Maybe he couldāve gone back? Maybe heād had more time to convince her before he went awol? The maybes could be endless. And he was sure heād hear them for the rest of his life.
But then a sudden realization hit him. She was here, still with Camelot as far as he was aware. It wouldāve been perfect for them after all to send her in to finish the job they started twelve years ago. It would be poetic really. He stiffined a bit, hoping that maybe Oliver could catch a hint fast. He could find Evelyn, get her nephew and her out.
This tone of thought stopped though when she spoke. He could read her, she could read him and she wasnāt here to kill him. At least thatās the best he could hope for. He didnāt completely relax, but he became less stiff.
He gave her a soft smile before it fell. ā Whatās wrong? What happened?ā If she wasnāt here to kill him, thatās what it had to be. Something wrong and it made him all the more worried.
