If you’re a fruit, make sure to NOT ferment your natural sugars into alcohol before your work interview.

Hey, it’s ok to not be a “productive member of society.”
Some people are housebound. Bed bound. Some people physically can’t eat, shower, or use the toilet without the assistance of a caretaker. Some people don’t have the spoons to get out of bed in the morning, let alone work a 9-5 job in this capitalist hellhole.
You’re not lazy. You’re not less than.
And this is coming from a disabled person with chronic pain who can leave the house and walk (with some pain) without mobility aids.
You deserve to take up space. You deserve to cost money. You deserve to be here without feeling guilty just because you can’t give back in the traditional way.
You’re worth it, hun. 🫶🏼
"quick meal for when you're low on spoons!" *involves chopping vegetables* *uses a stove* *includes condiments* *involves letting something set/rest/simmer* *requires multiple kitchen items that will need to be washed* *estimated prep time: 30–45 minutes*
it's hard to explain to people that there's a point where fatigue genuinely causes severe suffering because the natural response is "couldn't you just sleep?". But sometimes you can't sleep. Sometimes you've already slept for 16 hours and you're too restless to sleep more. Sometimes you have insomnia. Sometimes the amount that your body wants you to sleep is dangerous because it doesn't leave you enough time to care for yourself. So you're just stuck in this limbo between being awake and being asleep where moving feels so horrible, your body is turning on every alarm bell it can to get you to stop, but you've stopped all the things you can stop. Pretty much all I can do when I'm like this is lay still and watch youtube videos and even sometimes the sensory input is overwhelming.
[Image ID: a banner that says "this post is about physical disability, don't derail" on the first line and "physically abled people don't speak including talking in tags" on the second].
By the way. The whole “oh, well some of us have to push through our disability because we don’t have the option to be that disabled!” isn’t even laterally ableist, it is just ableist. Like, punching down, deeply fucking ableist, and I am so sick of it.
Great, congrats, you personally are able to “push through” chronic fatigue and walk around a bit or whatever. Yes it sucks that you have to injure yourself to survive. But that is not unique to you/being LSN, and I’m so fucking sick of less severely disabled people derailing every higher-needs post to try and…. Guilt trip the op for being disabled??
It's gross!!! It's so gross!!! High support needs Disabled people deserve to be able to talk about their realities without receiving some of the most vile ableist talking points from everyone in and outside their community.
btw if all you are doing as a physically disabled person is survive, you're worthy of being here as much as everyone else. even if you can't work, make art, or leave your home. even if you don't see anything beyond your bedroom and phone screen. even if you gain or lose weight, or your appearance otherwise changes because of your disability. even if you aren't awake or aware most of the time. you being here is enough to contribute to the world. i love you
It bothers me so much that the healthcare system relies so much on the patient's ability to advocate for themselves, organize their history, and be so persistent against every medical “professional” who says there’s nothing wrong/they can do. But so many struggle with fatigue, brain fog, and face such ingrained systemic barriers, that the people who need and deserve help and support can’t access it.
I saw something recently that resonated with me: “Access shouldn't depend on who has the energy to fight for it.” And I’ve never agreed with anything more.
