Introduction and Rules

Hi! Please call me Professor Palm! I use she/her pronouns, and am an adult. The main purpose of this blog is for you to ask me questions regarding the Orre Region, its environment, and its Pokémon inhabitants and I’ll answer them when I can. This is fully intended to be a gimmick blog so please keep that in mind. I will be playfully treating the Orre Region as a real place, sticking mainly to Pokémon gens 1-3. Once again, this is all for fun. Don’t take too much of it too seriously.

Be kind or be quiet. If you can’t say something nice, then don’t say anything at all.

There’s no such thing as a stupid question.

I’m in control of the ask box; that means I answer asks when I am able to. (As of right now, that’s the only application to this rule, I hope I don’t have to add on to that. Rule number one is what it is for a reason.)

My partner Pokémon are a Cubone (named Buoy) and a (nickname-less) Gengar. Cubone has a bashful nature and Gengar has a lax nature. They do help around the lab on occasion, and they are good for protection when out in the field, but mostly they’re pets.

Lecture Series: Let’s Talk About Death 😊

Everyone lies? Alright House, M.D. but that’s not what we’re talking about here. We’re talking about how everyone dies. And, to top off that fun fact, there’s a graveyard out in the desert! Sure, it’s no Lavender Town, but it is apart of Orre’s history. Now, let’s get into it!

If you’ve ever visited the cliffs in both the northern and eastern parts of the region, you know that they really are a sight to see. Along the eastern-most edge of the cliffs in the north (according to the XD map), there is something there that not a whole lot of people are interested in knowing about, let alone visiting: and that’s an ancient graveyard.

It’s located on an edge of suspected Ancient Orrean territory. The bodies of a few prominent human ancient Orreans have been found there, but this area that I’m talking about seems to have been mainly reserved for Pokémon, specifically Cubone and Marowak. It appears to be of significance to their territory, even.

It seemed to be significant to the ancient Orreans as well, actually! We are just starting to understand the relationship between the ancient Orreans, Cubone, and Marowak. At the moment, it appears that there seems to be early displays of what we now understand is Día de (los) Muertos, and early incarnations of sugar skulls! I also have my suspicions that, since this area is near the edge of the desert and there’s some greenery nearby, I’m hoping to see a large amount— or any amount, really— of marigolds there.

Learning about all of this has been so interesting for me, personally, because of my own Cubone, Bouy, and even my Gengar. This is one of those few research possibilities where getting my own Pokémon involved and letting them become Research Assistants For A Day (or longer— it’s a real trek getting out there!) really makes the experience all the more worthwhile!

pokémon game plots will forever be some of the wildest things to grasp for me. a bunch of environmentalists dressing up like pirates actually almost drown the world. oh yeah you can also dress up your pikachu in silly outfits and pick berries for them. jeff bezos creates a death laser using gods to try and destroy france. oh yeah you can also participate in cutsy pageants w your pokémon and yassify your poodle. meanwhile, in hawaii, aliens sent by your girlfriend’s abusive mom are trying to kill everything and many of them look like lovecraftian horrors. have fun surfing on manta rays though. meanwhile, in meiji era japan, you have to battle The Devil from The Bible TWICE because this loser who’s been Just There the whole game has religious trauma and wants to fistfight god. everything wants to KILL YOU and you’re getting paid minimum wage for groundbreaking scientific research.
