welcome to marina, ESMERALDA 'ESME' ORTEGA ( cisfemale, she/her ) ! they are a THIRTY year old who has lived on the island for FIVE YEARS. word on the street is theyβre currently living in LOCKE ROW and works as a RADIO HOST. everyone also says they look a lot like JEANINE MASON. what do you think?
esme grew up on a commune, barefoot and raised by every adult around.
her parents were present, but the community very much did share the responsibilities which included raising the children, so esme doesn't have a particularly strong relationship with them.
one constant in her life has always been music. she grew up listening to the classics and developed quite the obsession.
sadly, she doesn't have any musical talent herself, but her charming personality mixed with her passion eventually led her to want a career in radio hosting.
when she turned sixteen, she decided to leave the commune and travel the world. she's been all over the states and eventually settled in marina bay after finding an opening at the small radio station there.
she hosts a show that mostly revolves around classic rock and takes it extremely seriously.
she's extremely ambitious and hopes to one day get a show in a much bigger city where she would go from a handful of listeners to a shitload of them.
Kaylane notices the back of their head, pressing her lips together. It's been long enough since the murder, everyone should be a little less on edge... right? She tiptoes up to them and places her hands on each side of them. "Boo!"
The coffee in Esme's hand goes flying the second she feels the hand on her sides, the little innocent 'boo' barely registering in her mind. "Fuck, Kay," she shrieked when she saw her friend standing behind her. "Are you trying to kill me? Or just give me second-degree burns?" @oculiaperticlausi
Jaziel was tired of thinking about it. An entire week of revolving doors filled with people who had something else to say about his deceased coworker and friend. There was an emptiness and loneliness that he felt around now that she wasn't there. He knew they all meant their very best, but he couldn't take another 'I last seen her here, I last seen her there.' It was hard enough having to walk past her workspace at the parlor. It's the reason why despite the cold breeze he decided to sit outside. Hoping it would prevent most unwanted attention. He'd just started digging into his food when he felt a present that made him look up. "Shit, it's just you." he motioned with his head towards a seat, "Care to join me? You might wanna keep that jacket on."
Esme was on her break and looking to get a quick bite. The diner was close enough and the food decent, but she was in no mood for small talk. People seemed to have only one topic on their minds since the party and it didn't feel right for her to gossip about this poor girl whom she never even met. Takeout back in hand, she was just about to head back to her workplace when she spotted Jaziel sitting alone on a bench outside. "Just me," she confirmed, taking a few steps closer. "Isn't it a little cold to be eating outside?" @demidevildiva
