“Teddy, chill.” Callie reached out and put her hands on her friend’s shoulders. “We will be fine, we are more than capable of dealing with this kind of thing. We are awesome and we have got this.” She didn’t know strictly speaking if that was true, but a bit of reassurance never hurt anyone.

“You know how much I hate to do this,” And she did, Teddy really did. She adored Sofia, always happy to babysit the little girl when one of her three parents were unavailable, and therefore well aware that her mother was desperate to see her. But she really needed Callie on this case. “I have a seventy year old in the pit, suspected cardiac arrest at home while he was climbing the stairs which of course he promptly fell down. At least one of his hips is broken but I’m not sure that the other isn’t just dislocated.”

“No, no, no, no.” Callie groaned looking up at her friend. “An intern could deal with it.” She knew for a fact that an intern couldn’t. She would have to be the one to deal with it. She put her daughter down and gave a small sigh. “So, let’s go and check this guy out.”

“Excuse you, it’s my turn.” He could feel the dirty eyes the daycare workers were giving them but he didn’t care. One of the best things of having Sofia in the same building as they worked on was to check on her and play with her on his breaks. He turns the baby to face Callie though, a big proud smile on his face.

“No, no no. Gimme that baby.” She laughed a little but didn’t take Sofia from him. She loved to see Mark with their daughter. She leaned down and kissed her daughter’s face. “You are so cute and I could kiss you all day long.”

The nurses had told Levi that Dr. Torres had gone up to the daycare to visit with her daughter.  He knew this was not going to go well.  A patient was specifically requesting Dr. Torres, and he had to go bug her?  Levi had tried to smooth things over with the patient, but that didn’t work.  He showed his badge at the door after pacing outside for a few minutes. 

“Hi.  Dr. Torres, I am so sorry to bother you…..you see there is a patient downstairs asking for you.  And he won’t even let me order an x-ray without you saying he needs one.  A Mr. Burton?” Levi explained, hoping the name would ring a bell for the attending.  

He looked down at the smiling child and waved.  “Hello little one,” he greeted.  He didn’t want to be rude.  

Callie groaned, it was typical. She looked at the intern with a frown. “And you couldn’t appease him?” She almost rolled her eyes, of course he couldn’t. “Right,” she looked down at her daughter. “Mommy’s gotta go now little lady, I’ll see you later.” She headed out of the door looking at Levi, “Let’s go and get this man an x-ray.”
