Carlos Orue Photography

My name is Carlos Orue and I am a photographer from Sydney, Australia. This year I was a shortlisted photographer in the Astronomical Photographer of the Year competition organized by the Royal Observatory, Greenwich in partnership with BBC Sky at Night Magazine, and powered by the photo-sharing website Flickr. My two images shortlisted are currently on display in the Greenwich Museum and included in the accompanying book published by Collins. I specialise in landscape and nightscape photography and have recently gained recognition for my work. In the past 12 months my work has appeared in Universe Today, Flickr explore, Australian Sky & Telescope magazine (print only), Universe Magazine (print only) and on ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) and on live television. I also have 3 works currently on display in the Luskintyre Airfield & Aviation Museum, NSW Australia.

Remarkables Moon The Remarkables Mountain Range in Queenstown, New Zealand. And almost a full moon courtesy of the solar system. Fortunately for me the weather placed nice and the timeing of the moon rise fitted perfectly with our busy tourist schedule.

Golden ‘Porsche’ Hour I was lucky enough to step outside the Targa Florio launch at Lorbek luxury cars and catch the Porsche media car leaving early while others were still inside enjoying the champagne, wine and canapés that Lorbek had so kindly provided for its guests.

Stanwell Park Beach I love rainy days, it means I can sit a my computer and review old photographs. I always come across an image or two that I saw nothing in before but with fresh eyes I see something new , like this photo I took over 4 years ago taken at Stanwell Park Beach on a moonlit night.

Abandoned Farm House

Nightscaping lately has been far and few between, but a few weeks ago I decided to return to a location I stumbled across one time when I took a wrong turn and found a derelict farm house just off the freeway ( Outback Sunset ). Cathedral Rocks It's here! The Milky Way is up and it's as beautiful as ever. Last minute decision to head out, despite bad weather and lots of cloud on the horizon, I headed south down the coast and after a little research found some directions to this beautiful volcanic rock formation called Cathedral Rocks.
