Every fan of Sir Peter Jackson's work could recognize this mountain range and scenery. Rohan, kingdom of the horse-lords!
And the white mountains of Gondor. On that hill is where the Warg chase of the Two Towers was filmed, as well as a good chunk of Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli's pursuit of the Uruk-hai.
In the vicinity of this town - Queenstown, at Lake Wakatipu, in the state of Otago - the majority of outdoors shots across the Two Towers and the Battle of Pelenor Fields were filmed.
Anyway, this is a very old photo. Today this place is an overdeveloped tourist trap where there is not one spot of available parking space or gap in traffic to drive in with.

I loved drawing these characters and bringing Lisa’s magic world to life.

IN THIS TRANSCENDENT PICTURE BOOK ABOUT A BOY BEFRIENDING A MERMAID, CREATED BY THE AUTHOR OF

, LISA MANTCHEV, AND
THE BEAR AND THE PIANO
AUTHOR-ILLUSTRATOR DAVID LITCHFIELD.
A boy stands on a dock, behind him a glimmering circus. When he jumps into the water, an adventure begins. He meets mermaid who is all alone, an orphan, the last of her kind. While she’s eager to meet the circus folks—the strong man, the tattooed lady, the contortionist—she’s hesitant to create her own circus act at first, but grows to love the adoring audiences and her new circus family. Of course, she misses her ocean home. Will she have to choose between her new family and the ocean? In minimal, lyrical text, this stunning tale explores themes of friendship, loneliness, and home.
