what  was  your  character's  life  like  in  2024 ?

ha, complicated. extremely complicated. things really began to spiral for harry once his dad started on the path of the green goblin. there was a time in his life before harry knew what norman had truly become, and he always desperately tried to make his father proud of him. but no matter how hard he worked, how smart he proved himself to be, it never was enough. that need to make norman proud, however, was the perfect path to manipulate him -- and harry found himself as a tool to be used. norman created hobgoblin, the suit, and all the weapons that came with it and put harry into it as an effort to dismantle spider-man. of course, harry eventually caught on and everything came out. and that was when he began to spiral. 

while harry took over as the ceo of oscorp, and believing his father to have been dead for a brief stint of time, he turned down a darker path and became the new green goblin after dosing himself with a better, stronger version of the green goblin serum. 

during this time, he did a lot of terrible things. hurt people that were close to him and that he loved. it eventually resulted in his death after a brief moment of sanity where he sacrificed himself.  

he was, however, brought back to life and held no memories of his time as the green goblin. harry went on with life as normal, running oscorp, trying to distance himself from his father. but he had no memories of anything. 

what point were they at in their personal life  /  hero  career  /  occupation? you can make this as long as you wish.

harry was at a pretty terrible point in his life. his hero career as hobgoblin was going really good once he broke free from norman’s influence after the supposed ‘death’ of his father, and he was trying to help people through his hero work and his work with oscorp. of course, that all changed when he spiraled and became the second green goblin. 

when he was brought back to life, harry had no memories. he didn’t remember who spider-man was, didn’t recall norman being the green goblin, held absolutely no memory of himself being hobgoblin or the green goblin. he just went back into life as it had once been, trying to make things better with his work as the acting ceo of oscorp. 

does  your  character  have  any  memories  from  2024  or  their  past  ?

faintly. he remembers things with hazy flashbacks, mostly. nightmares as well. sometimes harry will wake up in the middle of the night, screaming and in a sweat when he remembers how he was changed after injecting the green goblin serum. some nights he’ll get nightmares of some of the horrible things he did, or his death. but once he wakes, harry tends not to recall the details only the feeling of panic and dread pooling in the pit of his stomach. 

he does, however, remember a bit more about being hobgoblin as of late. those memories seem to be trickling back even after coming back from the dead, though harry isn’t quite sure what it means or what’s happening. he’s never wanted to be a hero or surround himself by heroes or villains, but these fuzzy flashbacks he’s getting clearly tell a different story. for now, he’s trying to ignore them and pretend like it isn’t happening. 

what  are  they  doing  in  the  year  2012  ?

well, in 2012 harry was at a bit of a difficult time in his life. he was going to school in order to make norman proud by specifically going for business so he could take over oscorp one day. but that constant pressure in his life had sent him down a nasty rabbit hole and addiction started to become his coping mechanism. drinking, drugs -- he did anything he could to really numb the pain and try and pretend that he was fine. harry hid it away from peter, mj, and gwen. tried to pretend that he was okay, masked his pain with a smile. it was always easier than getting help.

i’m sharing a very small piece of the pain i’ve just gone through these past few days. the kind of pain thousands of kids are going through every day because an uncaring and unthinking society turns its back on them.

the son of a forest ranger, roy never knew his mother and lost his father to a forest fire at the age of 2. his father ended up perishing as he was saving members of a navajo reservation during the fire

brave bow, the shaman of the reservation, decided to take roy in as thanks to the sacrifice his father had made for them and raised roy as his own

at an early age brave bow recognized the talent that roy had with a bow and began to train him, his talent only growing more over the years. he eventually developed the skill better than someone twice his age

the day that green arrow debuted first in public, roy began to hero worship him and watched everything that he could of the archer. he was absolutely in awe

the day then came that green arrow was coming to the reservation to judge an archery competition and roy did everything in his ability to succeed and show the hero what he could do. while he managed to make it to the last round, he was given a magnetized arrow and missed the shot. however, he managed to stop a thief and it was then that green arrow realized that roy was speedier than even him

roy was taken in by the other, learning his secret identity, and roy became known as speedy

he joined the teen titans eventually, though things began to take a darker turn. various reasons led roy down a pit of despair. he became incredibly depressed and hopeless, eventually becoming addicted to heroin. 

in telling oliver, someone he considered a mentor, he was hit and kicked out and their relationship was severed

it took time but eventually roy managed to quit cold turkey with the help of hal and dinah. it was the most painful thing he’d ever gone through but he survived it and became stronger from it

roy then began a stint working for the government, and it was here that he came across cheshire. though she was a target, the two fell in love and eventually had a child. roy had been completely unaware that cheshire was pregnant until the birth of their daughter

knowing that she would’t give up her life as an assassin, roy took lian in and began his life as a single father

roy is currently back working with the titans, going by arsenal, and doing what he can to make the world a safer place for lian

   the world might be facing another of it’s darker hours; lois missing, fear gas stolen, heroes shaken and uncertain of what would come to fruition, how to help. but for now, managing to ease some of his friend’s worries helps to alleviate the shame and concern that his own investigations were so unfruitful. somewhat. at least it was easier for dick to ignore the gnawing concern for the time being in roy’s company, focusing for the time being on something he could do. namely dig deep, focus on the positive: there was still hope, and he could totally still get roy to ease up with a few less than good jokes.

at least it was mutual, not that it was ever too hard to startle out a quiet laugh from dick. “ I getcha, assless arsenal just isn’t as catchy is it? not gonna strike fear in your enemies. i’ll help you keep your street rep intact this time. ” the physical affection is nothing new, and by now it’s second nature to wrap an arm around roy, to soak up as much familiar warmth as he can from the other man while it lasted. “ if you really want to thank me, you can make it up to me by staying a couple minutes. ” a faint smile arises as he meets roy’s gaze, and lightly rests their foreheads together. “ and let’s not think about that last part. you’re not getting rid of me that easily. ”

   this was exactly the thing that roy had needed. otherwise the archer knew he would have run himself ragged worrying, trying to figure everything out. just a single moment to put all of the fears and worries aside. moments like this had always been rare for them in their line of work. villains were constant, mayhem tended to occur far more regularly than anything else. peace and quiet didn’t come very often, and even this moment couldn’t be considered peaceful. not with everything going on right now. 

   try as he might, a soft laugh managed to slip out just by the sheer ridiculousness of the words. “wow, my hero. out there protecting my street rep. i don’t know how i could ever thank you for such a thing.” it was so easy for roy just to relax and settle against dick. this was never anything out of the ordinary, though it was something he did enjoy. “hm -- think that could be agreed on. don’t gotta ask me twice.” roy blinks as their foreheads rest together, noting just how close they were. “i -- yeah. never worried about that one.” his mind is more focused on the closeness now than anything else. moments like these truly were few and far between. with everything going on now, who knew when any of them could have a simple moment like this. before roy could talk himself out of, he was closing the small distance between them, lips pressing lightly against dick’s.

for the first time in a long time, bruce takes a moment to just look at roy harper.  he’s seen roy grow from a boy to a man, and he’s seen the burden of this life settle on his shoulders, heavier and heavier every year.  bruce has never been as close to him as some of the others, but it does make bruce sadder still to see the way grief looks on roy, yet again. 

wordlessly, bruce puts a hand on roy’s shoulder and squeezes once, some sort of comfort, albeit a lackluster one.  “ i know you’re doing what needs to be done, ” bruce says.  “ how are oliver and dinah ?? ”

   so many of them had grown up within this world -- had known it for most of their lives. many of them had grown up looking up to the older heroes, wanting to be exactly like them once they were able to reach that stage in their lives. sure, roy had never been as close to bruce as he may have been to ollie, hal, and dinah but the archer still looked up to the other. he couldn’t even imagine what bruce might have been going through right now. 

    he knows full well that the other isn’t one for comfort, or much of anything of that sort. so feeling the small squeeze to his shoulder is more than he had expected. and it’s appreciated more than roy could say. “we all are. they’re alright, thankfully. neither were around metropolis whenever it happened. i know they’re both doing whatever they can right now. i’d ask how you were doing, but i know well enough from dick that it won’t get me anywhere. have you been able to locate anyone yet??”

Diana impassively watched Roy, taking in his argument and finding none of it touching her heart. Those were the same words that had been said over and over by her allies here, and it had gained them only destruction and pain. She wanted to save the world of man, had been beating herself against this problem for decades, and had respected how Bruce and Clark wanted to do things, but surely they’d see now, in horrific detail, that it simply wasn’t enough. They weren’t saving any innocents, only prolonging the time they had before they were inevitably killed by the murderers that the League let go again and again. “This job was not given to us. We created it in reaction to the injustices we saw in the world, we chose it, and what we have chosen to do has not been enough to protect people. Have you seen Metropolis? How dare you say we’ve made the world better when we allowed that to happen. The justice we brought him to the last time we caught him led to this. What will this next justice lead to?”

   disbelief had quickly emerged by the words coming from the amazon. for so many years of his life, roy had looked up to many of the justice league members. none of them were perfect, far from it, but they had always done what was right. they were heroes. this was wrong. it felt wrong, off. “bullshit, diana. all of us have chosen to keep fighting. sure, maybe we’re all pulled in someway or another but i sure as hell could have given this all up to just be a father. i’m not going to deny that we failed metropolis. no one in that city deserved what happened to them but that does not give us a right to determine whether or not the people responsible for this atrocity gets to live or die. once we do that, we become just as bad as they are. there is a line that we, as heroes, do not cross. we do not become killers.”

     there’s been any number of times where people have come to dick to talk of their problems. he actively encouraged it, given the number of those close to him who struggle to speak up on what troubles them. despite the practice, it doesn’t make it any easier when he has no short and easy answer to give them to make it all better. but then he knows that’s not what roy needs, or deserves. with all the effort the archer puts into giving lian a safe and happier childhood than either of them had, it’s the very least that dick can do to make sure the man has someone else looking out for him, ready to listen or help. if there’s more he can do - well, he’s still figuring out that part.

“ there we go. any more worrying and you’ll go grey, we both know lian would have a field day with that. ” it’s only a brief tease, to try and ease his friend’s mood somewhat, but dick can’t exactly pretend he’s not feeling the strain of the situation himself either. he has no idea what it must be like for roy in comparison. “ i’m always happy to help you out, that’s old news. let’s keep the ass kicking for another day though, huh? got to keep the arse in arsenal if we’re taking this one on together. ”

    somehow he always managed to find comfort and relief after talking to dick. sure, there was always going to be a part of him that was on edge considering the circumstances surrounding them now. dick always had a way of talking people down, getting them to really think things over. it’d been that way since back in their teen titans days. try as he might, the small teasing does manage to bring a small smile forward, and he’s giving a small nudge to dick with his elbow. “yeah, i know that all too well. can’t go being called old by my five year old now, can i??”

     roy gives a small nod at the words. “gotcha. think i’d much rather have my arse intact, you’re right. otherwise i really couldn’t be going by my name and that would just be really embarrassing.” sighing softly, he shifted until he was leaning against dick, head carefully resting against the other’s shoulder. this had always been easy for him, familiar. there were just some people in his life roy was the most comfortable around and it made affection easy. simple. tilting his head up to peer at dick, he offered up a small smile. “thanks, dick. don’t know where i’d be without you around.”

wally doesn’t think it’s selfish.  hell, he’s known lian since she was born, so part of him wants to check on her, too.  it’s not just a favor to roy.  he skids to a stop in front of roy, and tries to offer him the most optimistic smile he can manage in the shittiest of circumstances.  “ she’s totally fine, ” wally announces, crossing his heart.  “ i gave her a kiss from you and everything.  and she gave m this drawing for you, ” wally says, fishing the carefully folded rainbow out of his pocket.  

    relief immediately flooded his system just by the smile, one of his own quickly beginning to form. lian was okay. she was doing just fine, safe from all of this mayhem until it blew over. “i’m sure you was more than happy to see her uncle wally.” roy was thankful, beyond so, and as he took the folded up paper to look at the drawing, he was just so grateful for the things his friends were willing to do. “thank you, wally. really. it meant a lot to me that you did this.” and then roy’s reaching out, wrapping his arms around wally. “how’re you holding up??”

    was this selfish?? probably. wally could have been out doing other things, searching for people they weren’t sure on whether or not they’d been in metropolis at the time. but being apart from lian with this tragedy hanging over their head left roy completely uneasy. it had been the best decision to do should more had happened, but it didn’t mean he wasn’t worried otherwise. wally would be able to get to lian and back quicker than he would, and he was certainly one of the few roy trusted with her current location. on edge, roy was toying with one of his arrows as he waited at the meet spot to hear whatever news came back.

“Someone like the Joker would have been put to death in Themyscira long ago. No civilized society would have allowed this to continue for so long. What justice is there in valuing one man’s so called right to live over the dozens he’s murdered? Over the millions?” The images of Metropolis decimated still played in her mind, and the sight of Lois’ corpse- kind, witty, lovely Lois, who made Kal smile sun bright smiles and lit all their lives with her charm- would not leave her. She could not allow it to leave her. Diana shook her head bitterly, eyes hard. “We have failed.”

    roy could hardly deny that the thoughts had sometimes crossed his mind. why did they let the villains keep walking when imprisonment and other methods didn’t appear to work?? they kept hurting people, killing people. and now the joker had destroyed an entire city, had destroyed so many lives. roy knew full well had someone hurt lian in any way he wouldn’t have held back. but -- roy also knew that was the job. they were the heroes. “i get it. i really do. hell, if someone had taken lian from me i don’t think i’d hold myself back from killing them. but at the end of the day we don’t get to decide who lives and who dies. that has never been our job. we keep fighting to make the world better, that’s what we do. if we suddenly started deciding who lives and who dies -- that just makes us hypocrites. the joker will be brought to justice. i know we’ll all make certain of it.”

   it’s easier, to stay in costume and to stay focused, so that the full gravity of what has happened can’t settle over him.  he can’t think about it yet, can’t think about clark – or metropolis.  or all the people, millions of people.  or of lois.  for the first time in a long time, bruce feels a genuine sort of panic settling over him, but he pushes it back down.  what now? he wants to ask.  but – pretentious as it sounds – batman doesn’t get to ask that question, and especially not now.  

    “ we need – ” a pause.  what do they need?  where’s the plan?  “ priority has to be on…finding out where everyone is. ”  the unspoken hangs in the air.  some of them – their teams, their families – were in metropolis.  it’s a matter of finding out who now. 

    this was -- hell, there were no words that could even begin to describe what had occurred. this was a tragedy that hit everyone so deeply. so many people gone, just like that. in a blink of an eye. all because some madman wanted to have a laugh. once the news had reached roy, he had made certain to get lian to a much safer location, far from where he knew villains liked to be. right now wasn’t the time for her to be around, not with everything that had happened. he needed to protect her. 

    “agreed,” he finally managed. words were hard to get out, shock still coursing through him. “i - uhh. i’m able to put my full focus on that right now. we should... assign specific people to those who can help. whatever needs to be done.”

“Get those thoughts out your head, kiddo.” Dinah told him with a laugh, flicking his forehead in a playful manner. She pushed her door further open. “Come in. I don’t have much in besides left over chinese food and coffee.”

    “already gone, trust me. i don’t need those images whatsoever.” especially not from the person he saw as a mother. but still, he was going to tease. roy snickered, bringing a hand up to rub at his forehead. “sounds like my kinda meal, honestly. used to be my kitchen until lian.” walking through the door, roy glanced around the familiar area. “so what have you been up to??”

   even a lifetime of the unexpected, horrors and trials alike was hardly preparation for what had unfolded. while dick has had experience with those close to him in danger, needing to save someone they love, that didn’t make it any easier. especially not when that danger came in the form of the joker. a man who always stirred a particular form of fear, insidious, scarring. by the time roy finds him, dick is all too grateful for the company; even happier to have some way to help, considering his own investigations proved unfruitful.

   “ it’s definitely not a coincidence. ” a stressed sigh escapes, dick wishing that there was any kinder way to put such words. but that would be a lie not worth telling, empty and unhelpful for his friend’s concerns. the safety of anyone precious to them deserved it’s full attention, and thinking of little lian, hurt or worse truly leaves dick feeling sick and heartbroken. definitely not an option. “ look… you’re right. there’s no way to tell how big it is, or what joker has planned. but we both know you wouldn’t let a thing hurt lian, neither would I, or the titans. hell, the league. ” there’s a brief pause, dick gathering his thoughts before placing a light hand to the other’s shoulder. “ you’re not alone, wanting to protect her. so… how about instead of what if, we figure out what we can do to make sure that doesn’t happen? ”

   before lian had been brought into the picture, all of this had been so much easier. his life was the only one that had been held in the balance. that was a price he had been willing to pay with the work that he did. sometimes bad things happened to heroes, something roy had expected to happen eventually within his life. now he had another life to look out for, one that the archer cared for far more than his own. there really wasn’t anything that roy wouldn’t do to ensure the safety of his daughter. she was the light of his life -- his entire world. lian was truly the reason he kept fighting so hard for a better world. 

    dick may agree, but it does nothing to settle his mind. yeah, a part of him might have wanted to hear otherwise -- that none of this was connected whatsoever. “figured. it’s so frustrating not being able to see the whole picture.” a pause as a hand reaches up to brush back his hair, shoulders dropping. roy manages a small glance over towards dick, wishing that he could try for a smile but he doesn’t have it in him. not right now. “you’re right. we’ve got a real good family. but i agree. i’d rather do something than just stand by and worry about it all. see, this is why i can always count on you. you’ll always give me that kick in the ass i need.”

    he needed to talk. as ridiculous as that whole thing was considering the events occurring at the moment. there was so much going on, so much making his head spin and roy was doing his best to piece the puzzle together. anything to help out in finding lois, in bringing the joker to justice. something was going on, but he couldn’t figure out just what. and that worried him, left the archer feeling like he had been suckered punch. so really, it shouldn’t have come as much of a surprise to have found himself tracking down dick, desperate to get things out -- to see things better. more clearly.

     “this doesn’t sit right with me, ya know?? none of this -- it can’t be a coincidence. i know you and your family of all people know just what the joker is capable of, and it worries me. makes me wonder just what he’s up to, how big it could be. i always ask myself every single time: what if this time what i’m getting myself into finds its way back to lian?? what if i can’t protect her from a threat??”

Dinah opened her door and leaned on the door frame. “Y’know, I’m used to being up at three am in the morning but tonight, I’m not getting into the fishnets and leather.”

    “n’aww there you go crushing those dreams of mine. just poof, gone.” he flashed a small smile, though it felt forced even to him. “sorry, i really didn’t wanna wake you at such a late hour but sleep has not been much of a friend.”

Because it’s not irony. It was fucking intentional ; I’m 95% certain the fucking clown killed Crane, and he’s planning some fucked shit because of it. ❞   

  there was something going on. roy wasn’t one to believe in coincidences, especially not whenever it came to this. the escape, the death of the scarecrow was just too much of a coincidence not to be connected somehow. why?? roy didn’t have the answer for that one. not without more information. “it’s not a coincidence. it can’t be. there’s too much surrounding all of this. but given everyone’s eyes on this, i’m pretty sure we’ll know soon enough.”

   “ you know i have selective hearing, ” wally says, nudging roy with his elbow and grinning.  “ all i got outta that is that you already think i’m sexy. ”  wally strikes a little pose, gesturing to his own face. “ is it the stunning superhero jaw ??  or more the spandex ?? ”

   a groan escapes, eyes rolling. okay, so maybe roy should have chosen his words better. now he was never going to hear the end of this. “of course that’s the only thing you got out of that.” shaking his head, arms cross over his chest as he quirks an eyebrow at the ridiculous pose. “well -- spandex does bring out the ass more, gotta say. you got me there.”
