“This is demanding? More importantly, it’s hot?” He asked, a smirk on his face. A family dinner, Oscar, Cara, and him. He was sure Cara would grill Oscar, or at least keep the conversation going. “I’d love that.”

“You could be more demanding and I’d still find it hot.” He admitted with a shrug. Surprisingly, he wasn’t scared of meeting the sister or being interrogated. If he wanted to be apart of Finn’s life, he would do it properly. “Good, you can set it up and let me know when.”

  He tried to laugh but it turned into more of a sputter until he swallowed his   mouthful. “I’m mean it. It’s really good, Oscar. You’ll hav’ t’come over and   cook fer me more often.” Finnigan gave him a smile before he took another   bite of his breakfast burrito. “Please.” He added quickly.

He smirked over his cup of warm tea between his hands. “I love it when you get demanding, it’s so hot.” He teased. If Finn was ready to have him, Oscar was happy to come over and cook. It wasn’t as though he didn’t like his own cooking. “Next time I’ll make it dinner and Cara should be here.”

Finnigan copied Oscar’s action, taking a tortilla and filling it up with everything presented in front of him. He wasn’t the best as rolling it up but it held together when he held it up in front of him, grinning at Clary. He was careful as he took a bite, some spilling out. “This is really good.” He said after he swallowed his mouthful.

He wrapped the burrito up perfectly, keeping everything neat and tucked away and took a bite. It tasted just as he had suspected it would, minus a few ingredients that were in his own kitchen. “Don’t sound so surprised,” he teased. “I’m just showing off with something easy.”

“Save yer cliches for another time, mibbae?” Finn smiled, pulling extra plates out from the cupboard for them to use, as well as a few napkins, just in case. “Ah’m sure Ah’m goin’ t’love it.”

He winked, unable to help himself as he set out the plates. He would need to make a list of good cliches to pull out and use on him. “We’ll have to wait and see.” Taking a seat, he pulled a tortilla onto his plate. “Now the best way is to go bacon, eggs, salad stuff, sauce of choice and then roll it on up.”

“Ah was waitin’ fer ya t’finish cookin’. Ah dunnae wan’ t’get burnt.” Finnigan let his hands drop away from Oscar, moving to grab the vegetables he chopped up, pushing them onto a plate. “Ah’m ready t’enjoy your amazing cookin’.”

“I want to spout out some cliche about carpe diem or some shit but lets just eat instead, okay?”  He went to work, scooping out all the food onto the serving plate and tortillas on another. “I hope you like it then, otherwise I’m letting you down.”

He smiled against Oscar’s lips, hands traveling back and squeezing his hips gently. “Ah’m definitely not scared o’ you’re cookin’.” He replied when they broke apart again, his lips quickly finding Oscar’s again. Finnigan hummed into the kiss. “Ah was waitin’ fer this.”

A small grin graced his lips. “Smart move, cariño,” he said, patting Finnigan’s cheek. He eased into the kiss, hands holding tightly, happy to receive another kiss. “You were waiting for a kiss? You know, as my boyfriend you don’t have to wait anymore.”

“Ah know it is, but Ah’m willin’ t’share with you.” Welcoming Oscar into his home and his life as easy, it was what he knew he wanted. He was still shared about falling in love with him, but he wasn’t scared of the actual falling. “Almost.” He hummed, lips finding Oscar’s neck and pressing kisses up and down it.

“Then I’m happy to accept this offer. It’s mutually beneficial I think.” Finnigan’s distracting lips, skimming up the slope of his neck. Turning slowly, he faced Finn and pressed their lips together in a soft, lingering kiss. “Only almost? Are you scared of my cooking?” He asked before kissing him again. “Or are you waiting for something else?”

Finnigan smiled, resting his head on Oscar’s shoulder to watch his hands. “Ye’re welcome here whenever ya like, my home’s always open t’ya. And my bed, of course.” Something about this felt like home, but not this home. The home he’d left behind, the home filled with love and family. It wasn’t as if he didn’t have those things here, he loved his sister with all his heart. Oscar was filling a place that had just felt empty for too many years.

“I wouldn’t make that offer if I were you. That bed is quite possibly the greatest bed I’ve ever slept in,” he teased, tilting his head back to kiss Finn’s cheek. Honestly, he was touched by the invitation. The conversation they had that morning had sent Oscar into a panic. He wanted to be trustworthy, to earn that place in Finn’s bed that he didn’t deserve. “Alright. The tortilla’s are done and the bacon and eggs are done. It’s time to build our breakfasts, ready?”

Finnigan smiled at the kiss on his cheek. Leaving his knife on the counter, he moved behind Oscar and slipped his arms around his waist. He hummed, pressing a kiss to Oscar’s neck. “I should invite ye over more often, the fridge’d be stocked with leftovers.”

Hands and sweet lips pressed against his neck were distracting, his mind drifting from cooking bacon to Finn. He leaned back, resting his head against his shoulder for a moment. “I actually like cooking so I wouldn’t say no.” He wouldn’t say no to a chance to be in Finn’s life more.

As much as he wanted Oscar’s words to reassure him, there was still a heavy anchor of unease pressing on his chest. Cara was all he had left in the world, he would always be scared of losing her. Now he could add Oscar to the short list of things he never wanted to lose. “How much’re you goin’ t’make?” He asked, quickly changing the subject.

An uneasy quiet settled between them. Oscar focuses on the food, trying to make sure that everything was cooking evenly. He hummed when he heard Finnigan’s voice. “Enough,” he said vaguely, leaning back to kiss Finn’s cheek. “There’s probably gonna be a shit ton left over.”

“Yeah. I gotta stay relevant in Cara’s life somehow.” He dreaded the day his sister moved out and didn’t need him anymore. It was all he’d known for the past few years and it would be a hard habit to break. He relied on her presence as much as she’d once relied on him. 

“You’re her brother, you’ll always be relevant.” Oscar said, trying to reassure Finn. There was something in his tone that he didn’t like, a sadness that didn’t belong. Now he knew where things were, Oscar moved seamlessly around the kitchen, frying up the ingredients the would need while working on other elements.

Pulling a knife out of the drawer, he lined up the tomato and avocado on the cutting board and set straight to work. “Do ya cook fer yer ma ever?”

The pans were frying, making his job easier when he started placing bits of bacon in one and flipping the tortillas in the other. It would be a real feast when they were finished. “Not as often as I’d like but she’s a busy woman. What about you? Still the primary chef?”

He didn’t talk about the move much, it often led to people asking the reason behind it. Those things were better left in the past. Finnigan pointed to a cupboard, where the bags of flour and sugar were both kept. 

He was too distracted by his task to probe Finnigan for more answers. Instead he set to work, mixing flour, salt and water into a bowl and began rolling out tortilla’s. It would be a simultaneous act if he could get everything prepared perfectly on time. “Wanna do me a favour and cut up some tomato and avocado?” He asked over his shoulder.

“She was too upset over the move fer that.” Finn leaned back against the counter, watching Oscar move about the kitchen. “Ye’re the chef, you decide.” He wanted to see what he’d cook up, it’d give him a little more insight to who he was.

“I’m sorry, that must’ve been hard.” He barely remembered the move from Europe to America, himself. “Then you’re getting a breakfast burrito. Now, where’s your flour?” If he was doing it, he would do it right and that meant making the tortilla’s as well.
