you were supposed to be on a date with your boyfriend of 5 months,hamin. the two of you had agreed to stroll the streets of myeongdong and eat street food for your date but all that was ruined because of hamin’s fans. you see,hamin was a contestant on a rap survival show and he gained a lot of popularity from his laid back music and down to earth lyrics. because of that,a lot of his privacy was taken –no,snatched– away from him. before everything,you were just a regular high school student whom he got to know after being introduced by a mutual friend. but now,you were known as the girl who was seen together with hamin on the streets of myeongdong.
as you were walking,a girl that looked about your age bumped into you and made her way to hamin asking him for his autograph. you rubbed your aching shoulders and wanted to scold her but hamin gave you a look that said,“please let it go.” he signed her notebook and before he could return it to her,she asked the question that has been on all of his fans’ minds,“who is that girl?” hamin just replied her question with,“just a friend.” nonchalantly and the two of you were on your way. you admit,it hurt when he had to deny your relationship but it was what the two of your had agreed to if anyone ever asked. you watched by the sidelines as more schoolgirls approached hamin for pictures and autographs.
after a good 10 minutes,he politely declined requests and signalled for you to follow him. after exiting the busy streets,he took the subway with you to your apartment. you were silent the entire journey,still a little bummed about him denying the relationship. hamin tried initiating small skinship like trying to hold your hand and brushing your hair out of your face but you just rejected it. walking up to your apartment door,he couldn’t take it anymore. you stopped right outside your door and faced him,though you avoided eye contact with him. he cupped your cheeks in his hands and gently carressed your cheeks.
“are you mad at me?” he asked softly. shaking your head,you looked away.
“you are.. why?”
“it’s nothing,hamin. i’m home,you can go now.”
“i’m not leaving until you tell me why you’re upset,(y/n)-ah. is it because i didn’t say you were my girlfriend?”
you kept silent,answering his question. he sighed,pulling you into a hug. you wrapped your arms around him and closed your eyes. “dummy,i don’t want my fans to send you mean things. that can happen if i let them know your identity. we spoke about this before,remember?” he pulled away to look at you,his expressions soft. you nodded. “but i’m not weak. i can protect myself too.."you pouted. he chuckled lightly and pressed a kiss to your forehead. "let me be the one to do the protecting in our relationship.” he said,and you smiled. the two of you bid goodbye and he watched as you entered your abode.
after getting out of the shower,your phone made a sound which indicated that someone you had turned notifactions on for instagram had posted a picture. that person was of course no other than your boyfriend. you tapped,thinking that it was probably him promoting a new song but your eyes widened when you saw a picture of the two of you embracing. you scrolled down to read the caption. “today i met some fans at myeongdong. they asked me who the girl i was with was. i told them she was just a friend. truth is,i do have a girlfriend. i’ve had a girlfriend even before i went on the show. this is my girlfriend. she makes me happy and i hope everyone will respect that. i just cannot bare to see the girl i love in pain from hiding our relationship anymore,therefore i am making an announcement here. please do not send any mean things to her. she does not deserve it. i hope that you will still support my music even after this. thank you. sincerely,choi hamin (osshun gum)” you teared up and dialed hamin’s number.
“how was it? are you touched?” you could feel him hiding his snicker.
“hamin.. thank you.” you laughed through your tears.
“you’ve been through a lot with me. thank you.” his voice returned to being soothing again.
“i love you.”
“i love you too. forever and always.”
