Acrylic is like what if there was a paint medium that dried so fast that you could never blend anything or get the right colour. And then oil paint is like what if you were always spending 40 dollars
you know you can actually make a new post that goes 'acrylic is awesome because it dries fast and you CAN'T blend anything #FuckBlending #IHateBlending #SharpEdgedBrushstrokesFastAreAwesome' instead of like every second note doing the whole 'sooo true op (exact opposite of what I'm saying)' thing
I am a massively irritable hater but like geniuinely idk why you would use oil over acrylics if the drying time is a major problem. 'I love how oil painting is so much more expensive, requires so much preparation to even use a surface, you have so many poisons and requires so much set up and clean up... but unfortunately it has a long drying time (the reason you can actually do blending and stuff)' <- sentence said by no one ever?

(relatively) quick painting of some waves at the beach during a storm last summer
practicing mixing various greys so far I have learnt painting is evil and no one should do it

Painting a portrait of someone like 'this is what you would look like if you were soooo full of cadmium'
rocks are literally easy to draw because if you've done most of the details then suddenly realise you put two rocks 1cm too close together you can just make the rocks in between narrower it's fine no one will notice. but if you're most of the way through painting a person and you realise you put the eyes 1cm too close together what are you supposed to do??? kill yourself???
most important thing about oil painting is accumulating so many glass jars
this is so strangely specific?
(<- from looking up the wikipedia page of the painter who did a painting I reallyyy liked I saw at the sydney museum last year). the cliff (1958) by ronald steuart...
