Hey! What's it like playing college quidditch? I'm an incoming freshman and really want to join the team but I'm nervous I won't be good and people will shun me.

Quidditch has been the best part of my college experience so far. It’s super fun, keeps you active, and it’s how I met most of my college friends- including my roommate and my boyfriend.

You should absolutely consider joining your school’s team! The majority of people who come out at the beginning of the year have never played before, and learning the rules is confusing, especially right at the beginning. Almost no one is great right away, so don’t let that discourage you. People with all different kinds of athletic backgrounds play, and our sport is not one to push people away just because they aren’t “good enough.” If you’re still nervous, try to find your school’s team’s facebook page and contact the leadership ahead of time. In general, the community is very welcoming.

Even if you decide that you hate it, I would still encourage you to give quidditch a shot at the beginning of the year. If after a few practices you decide that it isn’t for you, you can at least say that you’ve played quidditch before.

Another first-year player, Lilo is an international student coming to us from Malaysia. She may be aggressive on the pitch, but off-pitch she’s as sweet as can be.

Travis is returning to us this year after a semester at Disney World! He’s super busy but he still manages to make time to play for us and watch White Chicks like once a week. (Which makes sense because he is literally a white girl in a ginger’s body.)
