Hello Tumblr! I'm Osusome, an artist who just happens to be Visually Impaired from the UK. I'm also a small Vtuber, though it entirely depends on what spare time I have and if the technology is on my side for that day.
More below the cut ✂️
About my Art:
It's quite the mess here. I'm constantly making original art as well as fan art, and it's mainly to do with whatever I'm interested in at the time. If you're looking for anything in particular that I may have made art for over the years, feel free to search for tags.
Even though I don't recommend checking out my old art, I do still appreciate whenever I see a notification of anyone liking them, gives [however old I was when I made that art] version of me retrospectively happy that someone enjoyed something I made.
I'm cool with people reblogging and sharing links to my art, but I kindly ask that you don't repost my art without my consent, as I am almost everywhere on the internet and try to post wherever I'm most active. I'm not cool with my art being used for "training" purposes, do not do it.
Commissions & Prints
Like most artists, I am open for commission work, though I'm currently reworking my pricing as I feel I've improved quite a bit since my last reshuffle, but also the time it takes to complete an art piece has majorly increased for me too. I do have a website, but I'm also restructuring this currently too. If you do wish to reach out to me, the best point of contact is through direct messages on here (Tumblr), Instagram (as long as it gets through the spambot), or BlueSky.
I also have an Etsy store (which you can find by searching for 'Osusome'), where you can find art prints and other merch that I'm able to make from home on there. I'm currently on a low budget, so you'll have to forgive the limited options on what's available. I've also got a clearance on all of my older prints too so I can make room for newer prints at some point soon in the future.
All interest is always appreciated by me, as it is currently my only form of income (for reasons that may become clearer in the below section). I try my best to package prints as securely and waterproof as possible. I would love to be more sustainable too, so if anyone has a more eco-friendly way of packaging art prints, I would love to know as I don't want to add any more plastics into the dirt or sea.
Advocacy
I'm slowly finding my way into the life of a disability advocate after facing so many unfair challenges myself when it comes to finding work and how laws are made around us without consulting us. I'm always happy to talk with companies (big or small) about how things can be made more accessible and inclusive for those of us with disabilities; particularly for visually impaired people.
I'm also happy to help people who have faced discrimination or have been treated unfairly due to their disability, and I'm more than happy to find out the best call of action as well as any of your rights that may have been violated in the process. Be mindful that I am UK based and only know my way around the law in the UK as opposed to overseas laws, as these will be different.
Anything Else?
I always love to mention this, because it's always been one of those facts about me that people couldn't believe (especially when growing up), but I have a rare eye condition called Aniridia, which in short means that I don't have an Iris. I've always wanted to raise awareness about this condition because I was always called a liar as a kid and I don't want that for other kids who grow up with this condition, because I know it took a heavy mental toll on myself.
Aniridia comes hand in hand with both Cataracts and Glaucoma (as well as a few other things but that's neither here nor there), so most people who have this condition have pretty poor eyesight. I say most because I have family members who can see perfectly fine and others who are completely blind who have this condition. We're also incredibly photophobic (light sensitive) as where our irises would be is instead one massive pupil, which lets all of the light in. It's not very fun and actually causes us pain if we have bright light shone into our eyes. However, the neat party trick is that they turn red in the sun or bright light, the same way some people's eyes go red in pictures. I once scared a Santa at Christmas as a baby because of this.
The point is, however, I try my best despite the challenges I face with my deteriorating sight, and I try my best to push for change that can not only help other visually impaired people, but also anyone. I don't want people to face the challenges I did alone; I don't want them to think that a sight loss diagnosis is the end of life as they knew it, because it isn't. We can do so many great things if we're just given the chance to shine, we can even come up with creative ways to work around the sight loss, we just might need a little extra help and encouragement to get there. Whilst I may not have had the help I needed when I was younger and going through the whole 'dealing with sudden sight loss' situation; it doesn't mean others need to go through the same thing.
So yeah, thanks for reading this post and consider a follow either on here or on my other social media if you're more active on those platforms. If you need any advice on anything related to what I've mentioned, feel free to ask about it if you're feeling it.
Until the next post, SEE YA! ✨🌌
