Oswald and Mickey are HALF brothers! Oswald said himself thought you should know

I've got a lot of these types of messages and I usually ignore them and move on but I thought I'd take you on an adventure of why I personally believe they aren't half brothers.

When discussing how Mickey and Oswald are related everyone always just points at this scene and case closed half brothers!

The wording is kind of off if you think about it. If they are truly half brothers and they both know it then should be worded something like this

"I know we're half brothers, but I'd like to be just plain brothers from now on."

But instead Oswald says "I used to think of us as half-brothers"

They key word here is "THINK"

I believe Oswald tricked his mind to see Mickey as a half brother to distance himself from the mouse so it was easier to hate him. But lets be honest even this distancing and rage for years didn't really stop him from caring for Mickey or at least warming up to him in Epic Mickey 1.

I do love that after Oswald asks to be just plain brothers we see throughout Epic Mickey 2 Oswald takes being Mickey's older brother serious he protects him a few times along their adventure because the rabbit does care for Mickey. Oswald has a big heart for the ones he calls family and friends.

But at the end of the day if you see them as half brothers that's okay. We all have our own head canons.

My Mouse Family AU info dump. I will be posting drawings like these of every member of the Mouse Family from my AU. Please keep in mind that this is an AU and things with these characters will be different from canon. Got any questions throw me an ask!

The Twins

Oswald and Michael are the youngest of the Mouse Family. These two are inseparable since birth they do everything together and even wear the same clothing, if it wasn't for them being different species you wouldn't be able to tell them apart.

These two are so close that they have nicknames that they only allow the other twin call them by, Oswald is only called Os by his twin and Michael is only call Mick by his twin. They let family and friends call them Ozzy and Mickey who respect the twins wishes of not calling them 'Mick' or 'Os'

The birth of the twins was a rocky one for Rosalind and Maurice but they got through it and had two baby boys, Oswald being the first and followed by Michael a minute later.

Michael has a love for theatre and acting and really wants to join a theatre group when he enters high school in a few years, their mother has signed Michael up for a local children theatre to boost her sons confidence and prepare him for the theatre life.

Oswald has a love for singing and acting but unlike his twin brother he hasn't shown interest in furthering this passion. His parents have tried to encourage him to join a local choir or local children theatre like his brother but the little rabbit refuses, instead opting to keep Michael company when he goes to his local children theatre group.

Their older siblings and parents worry that as the twins grow older and their interests become different and they find friends of their own that it might put a wedge between the twins. Rosalind and Maurice are most worried about Oswald as he finds it a lot harder to make friends then his younger twin brother.

I'm super overjoyed that Oswald is in Disney Dreamlight Valley and he's finally getting used like he deserves but...I have my problems with how he's getting used. I know Disney can use/present Oswald however they wish he's their character.

Lately the things Oswald has been placed in he's all 1920's style which is adorable! Don't get me wrong its just feels like Disney point of view of him is;

Oswald's that really old toon from the 1920's right? Let's make that his whole thing.

It feels like they want Oswald to be stuck in the 1920s and don't want to bring him into the current time period.

Also it feels like with this version of Oswald it would be so much harder for Mickey and Oswald to be in any TV shows or movies together. I'm getting this gut feeling that Disney might retcon Mickey and Oswald being brothers.

This could be my spicy brain not adjusting well to this change as I wanted him to be a bit more modern like the Epic Mickey version of him, he had a personality and a passion for building I loved that! He had individuality not just a toon representing a time period.

Saying old slang isn't a personality Disney!

New Family Tree for my 'Mouse Family' AU.

In this AU Mickey and Oswald are growing up together with their loving family. I'm hoping to make a little comic series about my ideas if time is on my side.

If not one character ONE CHARACTER doesn't acknowledge Oswald is Mickey's brother I ain't getting back into dreamlight valley. They ain't having my money again!

I don't want none of this "They are sorta related" "Oh they are half brothers" nonsense.

I NEED Oswald and Mickey brother moments PLEASE DISNEY PLEASE!

I want a sweet storyline between Oswald and Mickey you have your chance please don't blow it!!

(I literally just cancelled my subscription for Microsoft game pass a few days before this announcement which was letting me access the game ;-; )

Question you haven't put julius the cat in your family tree don't you think you should as he's their brother too?

I know a lot of people really like Julius and I have thought of ways to possibly add him to the family tree, but due to my neuro spicy brain it doesn't feel comfortable adding him as he's not my special interest, Oswald and Mickey are and inserting Julius just for others and not myself will burn me out and stop my brain from wanting to create art.

I don't know if you are taking questions about the mouse sibs but I was just wondering who's the most protective?

I did start a drawing answer for this but I've injured my hand so you got to put with my writing now, sorry!

Out of all the siblings Oswald is the most protective he has and will put himself in front of anything or anyone for his siblings.

He has protected his siblings so many times in the past mostly Mickey due to little Mick being Oswald's only little sibling he has a huge soft spot for him and will fight anyone who picks on him.

Oswald has protected his older siblings but Marshall and Felicity worry about Oswald protectiveness. The amount of time Felicity has had to patch up her little rabbit brother she can't count on her hands anymore. They worry he's going to start a fight he might not be able to get out of.
