Tin Man
Rammatra x human!GN! Reader!
The two of you sat back on the couch as the holoscreen before you hummed and buzzed with a crackle reminiscent to the tvs of the older times, the omnic beside you grumbling softly to himself as he crossed his arms, his ruby red lights glinting in what you could only imagine was a frown.
“I don’t see why you so desperately desire to watch such an aincent piece of film.” Rammatra groaned out, gesturing to the holovid.
“Oh come on,” You smiled. “The Wizard Of Oz is a classic piece of film history made almost 100 years ago! Surely you at least want to see what its about!”
“Fine, I’ll suffer through it I suppose.” He grumbled with a hint of sarcasm to his tone. “But only because its you.”
“Attaboy!” You teased, pressing play on the remote and snuggling up against his cold, metalic body that let out an unnatural hum and mechanical whirr in place of a heartbeat.
For a while into the movie, it was hard to tell what exactly his reaction was to all of it as he stayed mostly quiet, enough so that when you both got to the tin man’s part of the story, the sudden crackly rasp of Rammatra’s voice caught you off guard.
“If only I had the heart for humans like that one does.” He muttered, soft and full of thunderous sorrow and rage.
His eyes held a firm sadness to them as they stayed locked to the man pained in silver paint on the screen in an old-timey mimicky of metalic skin that was far beyond possible and much more a part of life and reality than it had ever been thought of back then. You could see the metaphorical gears turning through his mind as his eyes flickered with such violent emotion that you knew he struggled with greatly, a damage that would take far more time to heal, possibly even more than you could ever give.
“You do” You spoke decidedly and softly through that turbulent storm of his mind, taking his hand within your own as you watched the lights within his eyes flicker in the startled imitation of a blink as his sensors moved down to you, for once not having the horror of seeing your weaknesses appear on his combat HUD. “You have the heart for me after all, and I’d think thats a pretty good start, dont you?”
The joints of his fingertips creaked softly as they flinched at your touch, before slowly closing around your hand in a gentle embrace as Rammatra’s head dropped into an ashamed sway, leaning himself against the back of the couch as he gazed longingly at you before nodding softly.
“You sound far too much like my brother sometimes, are you aware?” He voice buzzed, reverberating through the air as he pulled you closer to him. “Though maybe even he is starting to have a semblance of a point as well these days.”
“Then I guess you’ll just have to be my tin man.” You giggled, pressing a gentle kiss to the frame of his face.
“But I am not made of tin?” Rammatra spoke with a confused hum to his voice. “I assure you I am not such a fragile metal I-“
“Not what I meant, love.” You laughed softly and sweetly, the most beautiful noise Rammatra had heard in a long while.
Perhaps it wouldn’t be so bad to have a heart after all.
