Alec doesn’t see himself as worthless. FFS.

By saying “Without him I’m nothing” Alec doesn’t think low of himself. He doesn’t think Jace is better or he needs him to be someone himself.

I think that’s something most people her misinterpret (in addition to the fact that they think Jace > Magnus. WTAF)

What Alec does mean though is, he’s not complete.

By losing Jace he’d also lose a part of himself.

He’d be incomplete. Because being a parabatai means exactly that.

If Jace dies also a part of Alec would die.

Same with Jace. If Alec would die also a part of Jace would die.

Without the other they wouldn’t be the same anymore.

We already saw that when Jace had died.

Did you see the pain on Alec’s face? Did you see how he suffered?

Because in that moment he was ‘nothing’. He felt as if he couldn’t go on. Because that is what parabatai means. And a lot of people seem to forget that.

I know some might not have read the books. Then it’s even harder to understand since the topic of parabatai was never really properly explained.

Honestly? I can’t even imagine how it must feel for Alec right now. They always have been there for each other. Even thinking about being without Jace must be so incredibly painful.
