Only managed to 2.08 because adulting.

Watching S1 reminded me all the reasons I enjoyed the show. Watching 2.04-2.08 reminded me about all the thinks that started to irk me about it.

Still, I wish I could have watched until 2.10. At least I’d get to see the third time Jace was willing to die in the span of 10 episodes.

#yet the only time anyone has talked to him about it is 3.11 #remember how he got reprimanded and it made him apologise?#remember how he was taken and tortured and possessed and under a spell and abandoned and trapped watching himself murder people #including his own grandmother #remember how this was never brought up again and his mental health never discussed #probably a good thing we stopped at 2.08

Not my heart breaking for Jace all over again.

Remember when they had to have an entire flashback episode just to show that Alec didn’t coerce Magnus into sex.

Good times.

Parabatai Lost is so good. The entire build up. And oh boy that ending was just beautiful.

You can tell that the writers gave importance to the bond in these first three episodes. If only they continued to remember to do so and not just occasionally remember it existed.

It’s still hilarious that they decided to upgrade everything from the get go in S2 but refused to give Jace a haircut until 2.05.

Remember that half a second people shipped Jace and Lydia. Good times.

I feel like I didn’t give enough attention to Simon here while the show was still on. I should have. That boy is precious.

Someone explain to me why Netflix is taking off Shadowhunters when they were involved in producing it? Shouldn’t it just be there forever?

lunaswondrousworld What they did to Jace in this travesty of a show was the biggest crime. What they did to Alec’s hair comes second place.

What do you mean? Jace moved out of the institute and got himself a condo where he lives peacefully with Alec. His mornings start with lazy kisses followed by making breakfast for two. And after a day of traning and hunting, his nights end with a round of love making and being safely nestled in his beloved's arms.

What a beautiful ending he got after all the struggle and hardship he suffered.

Just spent some time reading Jalec fics after a long time. I can’t help but wonder why show based fics were using the parabatai curse as a deterrent for them getting together.

Correct me if I’m wrong but the show never mentioned a curse. The only vague reference to parabatai not being able to be together is in the flashback where young Alec rethinks becoming parabatai because he fell for Jace. It could just be a rule or a law which can be made for a whole bunch of reasons that have nothing to do with a curse (wanting the bond to be about duty, not wanting parabatai to put each above the clave, homophobia because many pairs are of the same sex etc.).

Laws/rules can be changed which means that only thing that stands between is for Jace to get his head out of his ass and them to fight for their rights.

Since no real reason was given, it is really up for interpretation and creativity.

Haven’t read Jalec fic I’m a while (I really should do something about that) but from what I remember, most people just adopted that bit about the bond from the books. And back, then the people I mostly read had also red the books.

Oh no. I get that. I’ve pieced together things from both the show and the books especially when the show took time to get to certain storylines and reveal things.

I’m just saying that if a fic is show based, the curse can be eliminated as a reason for parabatai not to get together. There can just be a law against it. Something that can be overturned and allow parabatai to have an open relationship rather than spend a lifetime in a secret relationship.

That’s not to say we can’t keep writing the curse in because ~drama~ but like... it’s just not show canon. The show never gave a reason why parabatai can’t get together. We have the freedom to give whatever reason we want and resolve it however we want.
