This theatre is not what people think. People think they are the best community theatre in New York. But in fact, they discriminate against anyone who has a disability.
If you are autistic, have ADHD, anything like that, they won't cast you.
if you have a twin brother or sister, they'll only cast one of you. they use the excuse "you can't have a twin in the show." They did that with A Wonderful Life.
they also rip you off. if your role has a lot to do, they will take your part and make it smaller for timing.
They play the same actors over and over. no one new ever gets a chance.
Amelie Jacobs, Dalles Wilie, those are to name a few. Sure they have talent, but they are not the best for all the roles they've been cast. They treat you very very unfairly.
The directors are very cruel. they think it's their Job to bully the actors and be hard on them.
Also, when they get the rights, without permission from the rights holders, they make changes to the script. They change keys and octaves in songs, and they turn songs to dialogue, all without permission.
I know because I was in one of their shows where they did that and the shows I've seen says it to be true.
People, if you wanna get involved with theatre or community theatre, don't audition for Narrows Community Theatre in Brooklyn. And don't let their kids either.
Their productions of Into the Woods and Cinderella and Carrie the Musical were awful. Disgraces. because it was all same people and they were unfit for their roles. and they made illegal changes.
