So, Akechi Palace is pretty much nearly confirmed.

The released information we have so far shows a new palace, with very high leveled demons – higher than the penultimate palace, and the one they chose to show us is a demon associated with crows. Mined game data from vanilla p5 shows unused lines of demons saying “Master Akechi.” This suggests that there were plans for an Akechi Place that never came to fruition. To me, this suggests that yeah, the dungeon we’re seeing in these previews is Akechi Palace.

“But wait,” you say. “Goro is a persona user. How can he have a palace? Persona users shouldn’t have palaces.”

A palace exists as long as the owner has not accepted their shadow. If Goro Akechi has not accepted his shadow, then it is completely possible that he has a palace.

Take a good look at Goro Akechi’s character arc. Is this a boy who accepted himself? No. We know that he built up a fake public persona to gain fame and ACCEPTANCE. He didn’t accept himself – instead, he wanted others to accept him since he couldn’t do it himself. He raged against his truth.

Morgana even asked him to follow his true feelings, and he REFUSED. 

These are not the behaviors of someone who has accepted their shadow. They’re not. And from what we know of Goro’s character, his cognition of the world is DEFINITELY DISTORTED.

“Okay,” you tell me. “That makes sense, but it doesn’t explain how he has a persona if he didn’t accept his own shadow.”

A recurring motif in Persona 5 is that the system cheats. We hear it called “an unjust game,” and we know that Yaldabaoth set things up to pit Ren Amamiya and Goro Akechi against each other.

We also know that Goro calls his persona “a gift from the gods” that he was given. He didn’t discover it. He explicitly says it was GIVEN to him.

Consider this: Yaldabaoth cheated. He gave Goro Akechi the power of persona even though he had no self-acceptance, and even though he was most definitely a ruler of a palace. 

Other games have shown that characters can be given personas without accepting their shadows: Persona 4 has Izanami just give the power to Yu and Adachi, and Persona 3 even has the idea of artificial personas being given to people. It’s not out of the realm of possibility.

That’s what I think: The big bad GAVE Goro a persona despite him having a palace, and what we’re seeing now is Akechi Palace, which will happen near the end of the game before the final boss.

Which character do you like better: Ouma or Komaeda?

It’s got to be Ouma! Nagito is plenty solid writing-wise too but Ouma has far more a ways to go in terms of his potential.

I'm glad you actually acknowledge V3's flaws instead of attacking people who dislikes it because you think it's perfect. I replayed the game and looked up every V3 analysis I could find because people think that I only dislike it because I haven't done my research, they think it's flawless (one of the reasons I dislike the V3 fandom tbh). So props to you for admitting V3's flaws instead of claiming it's perfect and that people can't hate it.

Yeah, there’s a big problem with V3 fandom in that there aren’t many people who acknowledge V3′s strengths or flaws fairly- You either get people gushing to the heavens or declaring it a complete mistake. I might dislike V3 a lot more than I like it but at least those elements are a part of the story rather than some bullshit like ‘Kaito is homophobic’ ‘Why is Saiouma not canon’ or just generally complaints that have no relation to the plot.

It’s perfectly fine to say you’re biased for or against any one story, it’s a completely different matter to push your view aggressively when you can’t even articulate much of your argument for it, which is especially true of the people who gush over the ending in spite of how much it brings down the story and has no meaning. 

With that said I could never claim it’s perfect or terrible, what it has going for it is massive potential but it’s going to need a sequel or two to capitalize on that…just know though that being critical of V3 and thinking for yourself is a theme that has been present in previous games so if anyone tells you you’re wrong to be skeptical tell them ‘No, that’s wrong!’.

1) I’m just going around in circles or addressing things that have been said before

2) It’ll take a sequel to rekindle my interest because for all the things V3 did right it’s still a rather badly executed story that squanders much of its intriguing potential

3) Re-checking all the things in the game is a lot of effort, and effort is the last thing I want to do after work especially when the payoff isn’t that high.

Chapter 3 FTE: Oma claims his reasons for wanting Akamatsu back from the dead is because he wants Saihara to be happy. What do you think was REALLY going through his head then?

This one’s hard to answer as Ouma might have been saying that in the guise of his twin but supposing he doesn’t it’s hard for me to see it as anything but a subtle mockery of how Kaede might not have died at all if Shuichi had simply listened to him. What makes that exchange even more interesting then is how Ouma brought up Rantaro…

Then again I suspect many of these people call Kaito a misogynist purely for his less than stellar treatment of Maki and her issues even though he’s supportive of Kaede and I would think everyone in the fandom can at least agree that Kaito is a dumbass who wouldn’t know how to handle any sort of assassin well.

Ouma and Miu are some of my fav characters and I hate how OumaSai shippers use all of Ouma's insults towards her as a way to cheer him on for roasting their most hated character. Miu being a masochist is completely ignored. The way they shit on Miu it almost seems like they're jealous.of her interactions with Ouma lol? I guess that when one part in your ship wants the other part beaten up by Tenko for acting lewd you'll get mad when they aren't violent at all towards really lewd people, he.

Yeah, even if you didn’t see Miu outright stating in her TDP scene with Byakuya and Kaede that she loves being insulted it’s obvious that Ouma is riling her up largely for fun and she’s also the only character he does lewd banter with. It’s not even like what he says to her is that bad when you compare it to how he puts down Shuichi and points him to Tenko.

Seriously, did these people play an AU version of the game or are they just delusional- Wait, don’t answer that.

Which ships are you talking about?

I’m specifically referring to Saiouma, where the so-called shippers keep glossing over issues that are major red flags:

1) Shuichi knows that the people he sees in the Love Hotel are compromised, yet he goes along with ‘what they want’ while being fully cognizant of how sketchy this is

2) Team Salmon events with Ouma have him doing among other things sparkling when he says that he’d ‘love to strip for Shuichi’ before adding that’s what Shuichi wants to hear, questioning its necessity and then recommending Tenko. There’s another one where Shuichi suggests something like getting dirty and Ouma pushes him to Tenko again, and a scene where Ouma outright tells Shuichi off for wanting to watch him play

3) The entire Love Hotel scene in general with mentions of torture and rape. The fact that Ouma acts as if Shuichi could do this coupled with point 2 speaks volumes

Basically my point is that the worst Kaito has done is saying some slurs and/or been a tad inconsiderate and he tries to help for the most part while someone like Shuichi was outright told of a situation he could take advantage of and played into it, which is especially creepy when it comes to characters like Kaede as he ultimately didn’t bother helping her when she needed him most.

People who ship condoners of date rape with characters who do not want sex in any shape or form shouldn't be throwing stones at those who ship a guy whose worst fault is an uttered slur at a bad moment who otherwise tries to be supportive in spite of his faults.
