the more i replay through ragnarok after beating it the more things i notice about odins depiction of tyr, like something funny that just clicked for me is in alfheim they keep doing these little jokes where tyrs like “kratos where are you going the objective is this way” and atreus is like “haha hes just like that” yknow but the thing is they do this bit where tyr asks about and is confused by kratos’ exploration like 3 times and i find that so fascinating because isnt that so out of character for tyr? tyr the known wanderer who traveled to various different pantheons and in the post game wanders the realms endlessly. he is a natural explorer and wanderer and thats clear in all we’re told about him and yet this is a characteristic odin seems to notably fail to include

this conversation is also very telling to me because what kind of judgements are these for him to make? we don’t get to know alot about tyr as a person, mostly because the tyr that we did get in ragnarok wasn’t the real one, and what we do get are vague stories of how he was seen and the few things he says in the endgame because he just wants to be left alone by that point, but i think its safe to say that tyr was beloved by all, and as the god of war, law, justice, and honor (least the wiki says so i dont know the source for this lawl) knew the complexities of war. why would he judge freyr so harshly for this? mimir even seems to find it odd, considering how argumentative this conversation gets with mimirs tone regarding freyrs choice. mimir often calls tyr an old friend and despite the little we know about tyrs personality i find it hard to believe he’d hold such a harsh view like this on a topic he should know the harsh realities of so deeply. it reads to me like all odin has was the surface level understanding that tyr was just all about peace but the acknowledgment of the complex work for this peace seems lost on him. to me he seems to barely understand it considering his very unsuccessful conversation with kratos in the beginning regarding peace
