Hi! Um, I would like to RP but I don't know what to do/how and such so if you could like, er, explain it and stuff I'd be totally happy to! =D

Okay!

Basically, you create a separate account for your character and write as if you were them.

You can writes posts about their everyday lives, talk to other characters, create situations or events with other characters in which you write out.

It's actually pretty easy. Like writing a story in your character's point of view and building off of what others write about their characters! If you need examples, just take a look at a couple of our characters archives. :)

I hope I explained it well enough! If you have any more questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

Yeah... everyone's very busy with school and such right now it seems. I am as well, to be completely honest... However, I really truly hope with all my heart to get this community back up and running again. I've done it before and I will do it again. So far, because of that this has, believe it or not, been the longest surviving Ouran RP community so far on tumblr. (I haven't found one that was created before Oct. 29th 2010 yet)

Anyway, I am a bit hurt that you joined another community, but I suppose it's understandable. We are being quite inactive at the moment due to personal reasons.

I do hope you have fun over there though~! c: I know better than anyone how much fun it can be to RP as a OHSHC character! <3

Trimming down posts.

When replying, ideally you should cut down surplus replies to stop from building long reblog chains.

When going to reblog a post, at the top of the screen is ‘Reblog ___ as’:

Clicking on ‘as…’ will bring up these options:

Click ‘as text,’ and the text area will look something like this (using my own rp as an example to stop from embarrassing anyone… … except myself):

You’re only going to be replying to the most recent post, right? Simply highlight the text that you want to get rid of and drag it up to the URL of the person who made that post:

Press the backspace or delete or cut it or whatever it is you like to do, and you’ll be left with the last reply (of course, this depends on where you cut it from but we would prefer it if you only left the most recent reply).

If I failed at explaining this sufficiently enough feel free to send us a message!

This is something I found that I thought would be useful for everyone to know. Not only does it prevent long reblog chains (pyramids, triangles, or whatever you call them), but it also makes your posts all pretty and readable. :)

April 15th 2011: Activity Updates: PLEASE READ!!!

The activity has been updated on the Masterlist, and it's looking a bit grim.

Out of 17 people...

76.5% of the community have an activity symbol next to their name. (That's 13 out of 17 people. A little over 2/3rds.)

23.5% of the 17 people are on hiatus. (aka: 4/17)

52.9% , who aren't on hiatus, have at least one week of inactivity. (aka: 9/17)

I chose to show you all the numbers because I want to show you how truly small this community is. In larger communities, being a little inactive is more acceptable, but in smaller communities like OT, being inactive really makes the community suffer. (Example: 4 people are on hiatus and that is practically 1/4th of the community. That's a pretty big chunk if you ask me) I understand lives kick in, and that is what the "hiatus" is for... but it's truly hard for me to accept that a little over 2/3rds of the members here have an inactivity symbol next to their name.

Please try to make it a point to do at least one post a week. It can be an update on the characters life, or a continuation of a conversation or RP previously started (you don't have to be on at the same time as the other RPers to post or RP). Don't forget that you can always use the queue so you can take your time on quality updates and space them at good timing. In other words, please try to prevent having an inactivity symbol next to your name and attempt to make your posts something decent and worthwhile.

I simply want this community to be fun and lively like it once was, and it can't be this way if it's struggling to survive. I hope you all take my advise and ranting to heart, and understand where I'm coming from.

If the community shows no improvement by the end of the month, I am going to take the drastic action of re-starting the community. The masterlist will be wiped completely clean, and if you want to keep your character, or change it, you must message the masterlist (on a specific given date) before someone else reserves it. There are more details I have figured out, but that is all you need to know for now. In the end, it is a big deal, and I do not want to do it. But I will if this community continues to fade away... I am considering it might be a possible solution.

Unfortunately I have to go on hiatus as well. I'm not sure for how long though.

March 30th, 2011: The Rules

This message is mainly for our new members, but also it would be appreciated if our old members were to do the same:

I would just like you all to be aware of our Rules page on the masterlist. Although these are more guidelines than absolute rules, we would like our RPers to take them to heart and understand why we ask them to do these things. Most of those rules have been formed through experience and RPing on both this RP as well as others and we find that they make an overall happier and easier community.

One I would especially like to take note of at the moment is "cutting down on chat pyramids". I noticed this morning that there were long strings of conversations dominating the dash. If you do not know how to do this properly, please feel free to ask the masterlist, or anyone in the community.
