not enough people talk about the ranka haruhi relationship..... it makes me sad like everyone hyperfocuses on kyoya's relationship with his dad or tamaki's with his dad. but no one wants to delve into ranka and haruhi and their situation even though it's one of the central parent child relationships in the show and manga. i think it's half because no one actually takes ranka seriously as a parent (transphobia) and half because no one actually wants to explore haruhi seriously as a human being beyond acknowledging she exists or getting to self insert onto her (misogyny)
