July 5, 2019- OBC I spent money I didn't have to fly from SC to see this show. I had no idea it existed until the Tony performance. Alex Brightman's energy and obvious love for the character, the sets and costumes and GOOD GOD THAT SONG!! I was sucked in and devoured any source of media I could before the drive to see it for myself took over! I loved every minute of it! I took my dad because we both love the movie and I dressed up in a Beetlejuice striped suit. Took some cool pictures outside the theater and had a blast during a show that made good on its promise of an energetic gothic love letter to Tim Burton and the ghost with the most!
I was fortunate enough to see it again, this time with my boyfriend (his first Broadway show) in December around Christmas! Rob had left the show, but I was not dissatisfied at all with David's performance! I really loved sharing that moment with my boyfriend and hearing him laugh and enjoy the show was amazing!
Beetlejuice reminded me of something I had long since lost: my love of theater. Life, jobs and stuff like moving caused me to lose touch with the community theater I had been involved in and now I work evenings so it's even harder! I hope to change that soon.
It also led me to where I needed to go. For almost a year now I have been trying different ways of expressing myself through art. YouTube, Twitch, I tried many different things, but Beetlejuice led me to TikTok! I have so much fun making these videos and even though a small number of people follow me, that isn't why I do it! It's fun and it's for me and I love it.
Beetlejuice has changed so much for me and it hasn't stopped! I plan on switching careers to a more fulfilling one hopefully in costume and will continue to be as 'strange and unusual' as I can be along the way!
