Hi! Looking through the application rn,
Just wanted to point out that I don't see any question relating to personal schedules on the form like you said there was in a previous post
I also have a couple of suggestions:
There should be an option to confirm if you'd like to submit 1 or multiple submissions for the zine
I also feel there should be an option to say you want to do the prologue or epilogues of a step too
Since you said in a previous post that you will allow participants to submit canon divergent content + There could be case where you receive more applicants than expected, I feel a good work around this is to have an additional questionbox where we can go into detail about what we'll be submitting for our chosen step. That way, you can make sure more people can participate and prevent people from submitting similar submissions. Additionally, this could help prevent people submitting potentially inappropriate or offensive content for the zine
Actually now that I think about it, if you're certain you only want a certain number of people participating, do you have any plans what you'll do if you recieve more applicants than expected?
Hello! I appreciate all your questions and thoughts on this and am happy to answer and clarify a few things.
So yes, I did originally plan to have a question about scheduling however, the more I thought about it, for me, it didn't make sense to have people tell me their schedule if I end up not accepting them as a contributer.
This is something I will discuss when accepted contributers.
Same with the thing about submitting multiple contributions and people's plans with their submissions, this is something that feels like it would make more sense to discuss with accepted contributers.
Rather than making people type a lot of stuff out just to get rejected.
About the prolouge and epilogue thing, since there is one of each per step, my plan was to select someone working on each step to do it. How this ends up being done in the long run is based entirely on how many applicants we get.
As for my plan with how many applicants I do end up with, I have different plans for different numbers. There is a maximum of contributers, obviously, no zine would run well if it ended up with too many.
Thank you for asking, I hope I was able to clarify a few things. If you need further clarification please reach out.
Heyy same anon again a few moar questions popped into my brain ^^
1. Have you figured out whats the estimated timeline for the zine? (Like when do you expect first drafts and draft sketches to be done, when do you expect lineart and... whats considered the 2nd step for writers idk, etc.) Will you be flexible about due dates depending on a contributors work process?
2. Will you allow contributors to submit more than 1 art piece/fic if they wanted to?
3. Since the zine is a collection of art retelling the story of OLBA through MC's lense, I can imagine some would want to put their own spin on a scene or story, so is there a limit to how far we can go with canon divergency? Like for exaample, say there was an writer who wanted to submit a sort of rewrite of Grown Ups story, where instead of going along with Lizzie's grown up game, cove and MC decide to go play their own vers of the grown up game themselves, would that be ok? Or what if they wanted to write an additional scene for an existing story in the game? A wholly original short story for their MC and Cove?
Welcome back, lovely anon!
1) I was thinking about maybe having the final product ready for November. However, I want to know everyone's schedules, which will be a question in the contributer application.
Please note that your schedule will not affect you being selected, that question is entirely to be able to structure the zine timeline to work for everyone involved.
And yes, I will be extremely flexible with deadlines. Life happens, one second you can being good to go and then something can happen. So please do not worry if you need an extended deadline.
2) Ooo, yeah, absolutely! If you want to I would be more than happy for you to do so. I want this project to be as fun and creative as possible.
3) You can diverge the canon quite a bit, I love writing canon divergence for Our Life in my free time. If you feel as thought it is too divergent/extremely divergent while working on it. Please reach out, you can always check and clarify.
Hi!
im so excited for this zine, but I have a couple questions I want to ask before signing up for the contribution application
1. Is this zine specifically for OLBA? Or are you including OLNF too?
2. is the zine only going to be covering coves story? Or is it also including Derek and Baxter's story too
3. Are you only allowing 1 MC per contribute?
Apologies for having not seen this sooner!
Thank you for asking your questions though!
Let's get to answering!
1) For this zine, just OLBA once OLFA has a full release and if people like this zine, we could do one for OLFA. (Admittedly, I'm actually holding off playing OLFA until it's full release myself).
2) As of now, just Cove's as Baxter and Derek are DLC content. And this zine isn't going to include DLC content yet.
I have plans for DLC content and if those plans come to pass then Derek and Baxter will be included in that.
3 and 4) These questions feel similar so I'm answering them as the same.
As long as it makes sense storywise, which I trust any contributer to be able to do, so absolutely! If it is important for your MC(S)'s story/lore then multiple MCs will be allowed.
5) Yes! You can absolutely apply to be both an artist and writer.
6) Contributers will NOT be vetted/chosen entirely on skill. Naturally between artists and writers, I am looking for like basic skills but nothing out of this world. I know a lot of zines can be picky and only accept contributers if they have high skills but I'm not looking for that, so please do not shy away out of fear of "not being skilled enough".
Things I am looking for is passion, a love of creation, those are very important for working on a zine from my previous experience working on fan projects and zines.
Thank you for all your questions again! If you have anymore, please ask!
The poll is coming to a close and as it does, I am almost done finalising the plans for the Our Lives Zine.
Contributer applications will be opening up soon.
If you would to ask any questions, please reach out.
If you are applying as an artist, please be ready to submit four pieces of art as a portfolio.
If you are applying as a writer, please be ready to submit four snippets of writing.
These pieces do not have to Our Life related, it can be any of your proudest work. The application will be in the form of Google Forms, so it is recommended that you create a folder on Google Drive as a portfolio but if you would rather give your username for me to be able to take a look at your work, then that is completely fine too.
I want this to work for everyone as well as possible.
