Developments in digital signage.

Over the past few months, we have seen new technology grow in the digital signage sector. So let us look at a few of the new solutions. New products and new ways to advertise a businesses products and/or services!

On vehicle digital signage.

Used by transportation organizations, from buses through to taxi cabs. This is a way in which ads are displayed on 2 LED panels that are fixed to the top of a cab.

The ads can be geographically targeted using the GPS media player and they work like this. A cab is driving up Park Avenue, Manhattan New York and display adverts on the outdoor displays to the public outside, this can also be configured to the passenger inside using indoor displays. An flashes on screen for 11 Madison Park and the passenger likes the look of the restaurant and decides to ring them and book a table once he has checked into his hotel.

As you can see, this technology is becoming the norm in most major cities throughout the world.

Sunlight Readable Displays.

Being deployed throughout the fall and winter for the spring and summer, these screens from manufacturers such as Dynscan are high end with up to 7,000 cd/m2, but they also need protection from vandalism, theft and Mother Nature.

Perfect when an installation is in direct sunlight, these displays are ideal...they do not blacken or suffer from screen damage due to the extreme sunlight directed onto the flat panel.

With 4K projectors making a storming appearance, some innovative AV integrators are using these to advertise clients businesses on external buildings with awesome affects!

Increased use of projectors in digital advertising

We may see more high end projectors being used for digital signage in the future, but think for a second this type of hardware is vulnerable and moving them indoors and out is not an option.

Moving the projector from a humid outdoors to a cool indoors could cause harm to the circuits within the projector.
