Major J Hayes

Assigned to lead the Enterprise compliment of MACOs after part of Florida was destroyed by the Xindi, Major Hayes was outside the traditional hierarchy of Enterprise.  This caused some friction between him and the Chief Armory officer, Lieutenant Malcolm Reed, though these tensions were eased and he was accepted as a permanent part of the crew.   Now he's considered part of the Armory crew, though he and his MACOs do have some specialized training. {Sideblog to thedenobulandoctor}

Malcolm threw a phase pistol to Hayes with a smirk. “Ready, Major?” He teased, pulling up a simulation on his station. “We’ve played your games, now you play mine,” it wasn’t going to be easy, but he was sure the MACO could do it with no problem.

Hayes caught the phase pistol and nodded to Malcolm.  “Yes, sir.”  He wasn’t sure ‘game’ was the appropriate thing to call a tactical simulation, but he wasn’t going to tell Malcolm that.  He adjusted his grip on the pistol and wished for something with a bit more body to it- he could use the smaller guns, but he usually went for bigger or knives.  “Do I get to know what kind of situation we’re facing before it all goes pear shaped?”

As mentioned before, Hayes met his wife on Jupiter station. She was one of of the first civilians allowed on the base which had been intended to be MACO only. Every MACO who serves under Hayes has met Awena and half of them have joked about stealing her away which she just laughs at and kisses Hayes's cheek. She is easily spitted when she visits Hayes- by virtue of the gaggle of children around her. While the joke is that she and Hayes are baby machines, only three are genetically theirs. It's especially obvious with their youngest two, who aren't human.

“J! Have you seen my?” He turned into the room, glasses pushed up to his forehead and PADD in his hand. “Oh, Awena, I thought you had work today. Have you seen my work PADD? I can’t find it. All I could find was J’s.”

“I’m off today.”  Awena replied smiling.  “My students are thrilled.  J might’ve taken it with him, the Brass sent a shuttle for him this morning.  If you connected to our home network though, you should be able to remotely access all your data.”  Computers was not her specialty, but she knew her way around them.  “I’ll help you look for it though.  You might’ve just mislaid it, god knows I do that often enough.”

Malcolm groaned at the brightness of the sunshine filtering in through the blinds and he sighed. He reached up and pulled them closed, snuggling up closer to J, who was currently residing on the outside portion of the bed. “Why did you move so far away from me?” He asked, voice still husky from sleep as he pulled J closer to him and the wall on the other side of the bed. “It’s too early to go anywhere.”

J chuckled and nuzzled Malcolm’s neck.  “Just didn’t want to wake you.”  Apparently he’d failed in that.  When they were home both of them liked to sleep in and J knew it.  Though it was kind of unusual for Awena to still be in bed with both of them.  “It’s not too early to go to the bathroom,” which is where he’d just been.
