So I was thinking about that post I reblogged earlier about how (cis) male gamers are okay with some female protagonists in games but not others and of course I was wondering how that applies to Alice from the American McGee games. Of all the heterosexual bullshit I've seen from dudes in the gaming community, I've never seen a guy complain about Alice. What I think it boils down to is:

1) These are video games about Alice in Wonderland. No duh Alice is gonna be the protagonist.

2) Despite Alice not being designed to be sexy (in fact, American McGee specifically did NOT want to sexualize her), she's still a young, skinny, and feminine girl. So of course dudes steamroll any of her characterization and anything actually in the games that marks her as sexually unavailable in favor of molding her into the perfect goth gf in their minds.

At the very least, they didn't deserve to be $200+ for a used copy, or to be falling into lost media.

ENTER THE MIND OF A PSYCHOPATH

did a fun thing to entretain myself, and restored Thy Art is Murder's MySpace banner from 2008, sometime when Infinite Death was near release/came out. Put it back together (because apparently MySpace banners are all separated into bits and as gifs, lots of conversion to do), and just applied some unsharpening to make it look slightly better.

Note: I'm not taking credit for anything, I simply just restored the image, since this original isn't anywhere to be found (not that i've seen) or it's mostly in super low resolutions, part of it being used for uploads of Thy Art's demo "This Hole Isn't Deep Enough For The Twelve of You"
