🧹my cleaning routine🧹
hi everyone! i know that i’ve been mia for a little bit (i’ve been working on lots of projects, which i hope to share with you soon!), but today i’d like to share my cleaning routine, modified for a very small apartment.
DAILY
- every day i try to do at least a few things to keep my home looking tidy!
- i usually make dinner every night, and my boyfriend does the dishes!
- when i get home, i spend about 10 minutes folding clothes, putting things back where they belong and getting rid of stray bits of rubbish. when i’m done, i light some incense and enjoy how tidy everything looks.
- i also take out the garbage as needed .
WEEKLY
- every Wednesday i have a big apartment cleaning. this includes weekly chores as well as one bigger cleaning project that only needs to be done monthly.
- i begin in the sleeping/wardrobe area of our apartment, where I make the bed and do the laundry (washed, folded and put away). i also organize anything that looks messy, like our bedside table, reading area and closet.
- when i reach the kitchen, i usually organize our pantry and clean out our refrigerator. i also wipe down the sink, counters and stove area, and wash any dirty dishes. i also do my weekly meal planning, and i’m looking forward to sharing that process very soon!
- after the kitchen, i clean the bathroom. i wipe down and scrub the toilet, wipe down any high traffic areas (shower door and handle, doorknobs)
- then i tackle one of the four big monthly projects!
- this usually takes me two to three hours, but it goes by quickly and i love having a tidy home.
MONTHLY
- every month, i rotate through four chores.
- week one: i wash all of our bed linens (sheets and duvet cover; our pillows are washed weekly)
- week two: i deep-clean our shower, which can get gross if not attended to
- week three: i deep-clean the bathroom (scrubbing the floor, making sure everything is disinfected, scrubbing the toilet)
- week four: i sweep and wash the floors.
this is my personal cleaning routine, so you might have to adapt it to your needs. however, i hope this helps or encourages you in your own journey!
🌸have a lovely day🌸
