I thought I had escaped, but no, these characters still make me very unwell. 😭
Lol first query denial after only 24 hours. I think I’m going to be annoyed every time this manuscript gets rejected considering I poured my entire chronic illness into one of these characters. 🙃
Are they lovers? Yes, and worse. One of them finally confessed their love after being childhood friends and unspoken dating for a while. Now they’re soulmates separated across the cosmos on different planets…and they’re stuck like that until some idiot (me) writes the sequel.
I love you PBS I love you NPR I love you public libraries I love you wikipedia I love you project gutenberg I love you librivox I love you libby I love you hoopla I love you openlibrary I love you internet archive I love you resources that make information free and accessible to the public
I can behave normally around books
I can be trusted in bookstores and libraries and you should take me to those locations
When you finish writing a book, but then realize you have to do something with it now. 😅
I feel more and more like Frankenstein’s monster, burdened by a weight of knowledge I didn’t ask for. Oh, to be blissfully ignorant at the fall of civilization.
most important part of the writing process actually is when you loop a single song on max volume and stare at the word document and imagine the characters doing things for 14 hours. this is known as getting in the zone
me while writing: ah yes, this character should do this, it feels so natural with what they're saying
me while editing: why the FUCK does he lean on the doorway SEVENTEEN TIMES IN THIS CHAPTER
I just got a query rejection and the agent was like “your book doesn’t have the crucial spark I need to work with it…but lucky for you I support the writers I can’t represent with ✨my podcast✨”
Thanks, that’s the only rejection I’ve ever received that made me viscerally angry. Did I ask for podcast recs?
If I had a nickel for every time I’ve forced myself to continue writing a dystopian novel during an orange administration, I’d have two nickels…
Writing about ppl falling in love, when I have been in only one disastrous relationship my whole life describes me as a person.
“you should be at the club” Brother I should literally be sent to the seaside for my health
yall one of my characters has the saddest lore, i hate it sm i just wanna hug him😭😭😭 (me acting like i didn’t give him the sad lore in question)
me, every time i write: this is the worst thing i’ve ever done.
also me: this is pure genius.
Writers, please tell me this is a common experience and not just me.
Once I’ve decided a draft is likely the last draft of what I’m writing my brain engages imposter syndrome and suddenly I think all my writing is shit. Like the finishing part of every long form writing project I’ve done deals me psychic damage. Does this also happen to you? 😅
A writer on another app alluded to the idea that if they’d started writing in 2012 they would already be published several times and I had to restrain myself because I started writing in 2012 and now I have four manuscripts and still no agent or publication. The journey is a journey. Time does not guarantee anything. It’s mostly luck.
