i mean i am confused about some things. why why did anti come out of jameson? how are anti and jack kinda meshed together? who is actually jackie? and how on earth did you come up with killing almost everyone in chapter freaking zero-
Iām gonna tag these with #ovcspoiler and put all answers underneath a cut so nobody accidentally spoils themselves, but if youād like to know a clearer answer to all of this that was GOING to be answered in ARG elements, read below!
All in all and as simply put as possible: There are only three characters in Overcry -> Jack, Chase and Henrik. Henrik is a sad and failed scientist that started to dive into brain transfer and succeeded doing tests on people unwillingly. His Universeās Jack and Chase (twin brothers and the other two characters) were his latest victims! This is what happens in theĀ āfirstā chapter of the comic. What we were going to explore inĀ ārevealed lab entriesā was that Henrik only looks like Chase because heās taken over his body previously, which is how he was able to trick Jack into finding him. 2. When Henrik tried to take over Jackās body to do more tests, something went wrong and Jack was flung through all of the universes that inhabited a version of him within a matter of seconds. Because, you see, there is a problem with Henrikās machine in that it doesnāt simplyĀ āswitchā two minds, but it merges them instead so each time heās doing it, a little bit of himself gets lost in the process and is replaced with parts of someone elseās mind. Thatās how heās losing his own, quite literally speaking. The process of this creates a ripple effect each time it happens, because it greatly changes one universe from itās parallel ones
However, things go mayhem and this odd almagamation of combined souls is born with Jack, instead - which is our Anti. In the process, the rift is opened - which isnāt so much a rift as it is matter in space that JackĀ ārippledā through when this had happened. Itās something unstable like him, so they cancel each other out in the end, like a missing piece to a puzzle.

Each other character - Jackie, Jameson and so on, are alternate universe versions of either Chase or Jack from the main universe this story takes place in. Itās a little bit confusing but the idea is this:
Universe 1 (main): Henrik, Chase (dead/merged with Henrik) and Jack (Anti).
Our alternate Jacks are: Marvin, Jameson Our alternate Chaseās are: Chase (alive) and Jackie.
They each have their own stories to tell that we were ALSO going to explain in the ARG with small side comics that Iāll briefly explain below.
Ā Jackie lost his twin in the past which lead him down a path of becoming a hero. -> He feels like he could have saved him, but that he wasnāt brave enough.Ā
Chase lost his family in a car accident and his brother is in a coma. -> He has a fear of letting people in now that heās lost so many.
Marvin never had a twin and was always very absorbed in studying his powers as a keeper of peace (sort of like Dr. Strange!) which lead him to when he felt an anomaly in the multiverse and decided to check it out. He explains this as well, there really isnāt much more to it! -> Heās not good with people generally speaking and hides behind a mask of courage and strength.
Henrik (as explained at the top already) was a failed science student and mocked for his rather dangerous and stupid ideas for experiments, trying to bend the rules of physics just to see how far he could. He got shunned for his erratic behaviour all his life and swore to show his genius to people as to not let his potential go to waste.
Jameson is a curious case and we decided to include chapter 0 to explain him a little better. The chapter plays in Jamesonās dimension, which is technically still OUR time. The only difference is that earth is less developed and therefore still in theĀ āpastā so to speak. When Jack, now Anti, was flung through that Universe Soup(tm), he landed in Jamesonās dimension first as opposed to his own. Jameson was affected by Anti, but not completely absorbed into him. What you read happening there was an imaginary manifestation of what happened that he made up in his head to explain to himself what was going on.
Anti was inside Jameson all along. He was watching from the sidelines, unknowingly. He wasnāt evil or anything, he just didnāt know what was happening.
Hope that solves some of the issues! Still a bit messy, itās been a while since I went over it all. We had a good plan to tell the story more cohesively, apologies for it being a bit messy haha. ^^Ā
