After my ‘himbo orcs dream’ post got 200+ notes, here’s the resulting story. I de-himboed them a bit, but they’ve still got himbo energy/vibes. I hope you like it!
Content: shy gender neutral reader, five supportive orc friends, one bi human bestie, and even more toothrotting fluff than usual for me, which is saying something.
With a knowing, nervous look across the coffee table at Ben, you joined the ‘study group’ call and rested your teeth unconsciously on your lower lip. Folders and notepads sat scattered carelessly across the coffee-ringed surface of the old, cheap table, and you clicked the top of your pen over and over while you waited to connect.
“Stop it,” Ben laughed from his seat at the little dining table on the other side of the room. “You look so nervous. They’ll know something’s up.”
“Something is up! I turn into a stammering wreck whenever I see him, and —” there was a short hum of feedback as your call joined the others already waiting, and then five huge orcs all simultaneously and independently raised their arms in the air and cheered like they were sat right behind the glass at a hockey game. It was a mark of how close they all were that, despite being in their own rooms across campus and separated from each other this time, they all reacted in exactly the same way at exactly the same time.
You had to laugh, but heat immediately engulfed your cheeks and you looked down to avoid looking at Molikhash.
When you and Ben had joined an online study group organised by the student union to help you manage your study time and coursework better, you hadn’t anticipated that all the other members of this one would be orcs. At the first sight of those five rectangles on screen all filled with straining arm and shoulder muscles, and — in Deorakh’s case — bulging, bare pecs and an eight pack to make any body-builder envious (he’d since apologised and agreed to put on a shirt for study time sessions), you’d nearly slammed your laptop lid down and backed out of the call. No way could this go well.
You’d been convinced that they were going to spend the whole time messing around and flexing and showing off instead of studying, but, after some initial jockeying and joking around, the five orcs had settled down and, to their credit, had studied for an entire hour in amicable, easy silence before someone cracked a joke and the gentle banter picked up again.
Mol was the biggest and goofiest of the lot of them. Like his friend Tavhaara, he was an Uruk-hai, while the remaining three were an ice orc, and two plains orcs — blue and green skinned respectively. Seven feet tall, with colossal muscles, mottled purple and brown skin that seemed to glow in certain lights, sharp double tusks, big, kind, laughing, brown eyes, and long, luscious, black hair that he usually tied back in a scruffy bun to reveal tapering ears lined with earrings all the way up, Mol was also possibly the most intimidating person you’d ever clapped eyes on.
Yet, in those first five minutes of that first online session, he’d cracked three awful dad-jokes, made fun of himself for trying to bench-press Floki and ending up with a face full of remarkably tolerant ice orc, bigged-up Tavhaara for a test she’d aced, and complimented you on the elven-made wall-hanging that had been just about visible behind you on your tiny on-screen window. He’d had to peer at his screen to see it, and Deorakh had told him (apparently not for the first time) that he needed to go get his eyes tested.
