First, theres a dialogue in Mike's basement, like in the “Crazy together” scene. It's a heartfelt dialogue that smoothly transitions to Will's feelings. Will started denying his feelings, and Mike is trying in every possible way to tell him that he loves him and to show that he knows about Will's feelings. But they are interrupted, told that they need to go on some kind of mission. They go out onto the porch of the Wheelers' house. Mike says theyll catch up with the others soon. Its raining. Mike is trying to get back to their dialogue, and Will is avoiding its in every possible way. In the end, Mike says directly that he loves him. Will is in shock, and Mike kisses him. Will returns the kiss. Will says “I love u” n Mike answers “I know. I love u too”. They are happily going on a mission

Im just thinking 'bout Steve n that the Duffers dropped his Funko Pop when they were showing the series finale. Ill try to explain my theory

Okay, all of us know that the Duffers wanted to kill Steve in the first season but they were dissuaded. So I think theyre planning to give him a FAKE DIE. I mean all fans or not fans, just watching and following the series, love Steve n they (me too) will cry if he dies. They promised us the most brutal death in the series, n here it is. But killing another of Dustin's mentors would be too much, 'cause in theory this arc wont be able to close properly in the finale. Dustin will “remain on the edge of the cliff”. This will also contribute to their reconciliation, Dustin will be able to emotionally express himself (his feelings 'bout Eddie's death) to Steve at the moment when he realizes that he is alive and doesnt want to lose him again

I also want to note that there is no special development arc for Steve, but this small moment will allow him to acquire it, and maybe his temporary death will somehow help to explore the Upside Down more
