Tell me about thorax
about time someone asks me about my little freak... heh...

Thorax is a 23 year old brown tinted dune with an orange bandanna. their bandanna was given to them after they had saved their "parent" (one of the handlers who had raised them ever since they were a pup) from a hostile experiment that had managed to breach containment, and by saved I mean Thorax mauled the FUCK out of that poor guy. RIP unnamed expie. they're genetically modified to be able to express more empathy than other dunes
oh yea, Thorax's backstory is that they were basically kidnapped from their mother by the scientists as soon as they had hatched, which resulted in their dumb little dune brain imprinting on the humans and thinking that the humans were other dunes. the lack of proper socialization with other species and their own kind resulted in them being very very VERY emotionally underdeveloped. they were also prone to being drugged and sedated any time they exhibited any sort of negative emotion, so they were never allowed to really experience and feel anything other than "yay happy happy dune" all the time. they were selected for the group descent project after ripping off one of their handlers' hands because they got too stressed.
personality wise, Thorax tries their best to be sweet and nice to everyone in the group. the training they were put through in the facility made them see everyone in the group as a close friend instead of the usual "you're a friend but we'll never get too close" mindset that dunes usually have. they still won't accept hugs unless you're real close, but unlike other dunes they'll actually appreciate it. Thorax is a real cutie pie but whenever they're on low mood EVERYONE will feel it. they don't know how to regulate their emotions so they end up hurting others in the process, isolating themselves and lashing out at everyone around them. episodes for Thorax have often ended in either themselves or someone else being hurt/yelled at. they're still learning how to manage and control their emotions and find healthy coping mechanisms.
in a recent incident, Thorax's mood dropped to -100 after several unfortunate events that happened to them and the rest of the group throughout the course of layer 3 and some of 4. they then proceeded to claw out their left eye during an episode, though thankfully Morphie (vyse's oc) was following after them and managed to get them help before they bled out. everyone in the group's worried for them huuuuu....
currently thorax has real bad fin-rot from very low mood... poor thang. the entire group atm is fed and watered nicely so hopefully they'll start physically and mentally recovering
i have a lot more i could talk about here but unfortunately i don't feel like typing out an essay right now so have this thorax doodle as a compromise
