New Nightmare Before Christmas and Cat in the Hat necklaces, earrings, and accessories in the works!

Did a quick test print of my new Big Boi TM mushroom carving!
Would love some feedback and advice <3 I've been having trouble getting clear printsnfrom thr bigger pieces, partially towards the centre of the piece. I print against a hard cover book on the floor, with a baren. I'm using a soft rubber brayer and apply the ink in multiple layers to build it up.
I did a dry print which is cleaner but patchy, and a wet print (lightly dampened the fabric before printing) which is darker but less crisp and a bit messy.
I'd love some advice in the comments!
And I'd love feed back on which everyone prefers:
Which do you prefer?
Dry Print
Wet Print
After 8 effing HOURS of carving over two day, I've finished day biggest carving ever. Boy is a giant mushroom and I'm so proud.
There is an additional carving that wants to go with it that will fill the tops of the mushrooms with colour...but brah I'm happy with just this piece for new. Hopefully all get to test it out on some bags this week, I have two markets next weekend and it would be nice to have some of the print to show off.
New print design in the works...
After a busy evening of hitting up Goodwill for some pre-loved children's books followed by a quick Ikea stop for an extra storage bin for market organisation, I stayed up late finishing setting most of the new necklaces and pins! The pride ones need an extra day go let the sealing layer to set, but should be finished tomorrow.
One more busy night tomorrow making chains, setting the last designs, and preping my market gear ready for thr Calmar Market on Main!
After this run of necklaces and accessories are done I'll get started on some new Fall/Hallowe'en design for block printing!
After a looooooong afternoon of colour mixing and printing, I have a few more monstera prints for my upcoming markets :D
The colour mixing alone took 2 hours, and while the green took some tweeking and the coral was much too brown, I'm still happy with the overall results.
I also picked up my new storage bins for all my printing crap, so much more organised!
Last market I had a request for a pride pin, so I dug up my storage box with the paper I laminated during lock-down :D
More jewelry making again today!
I got approved to attend the Beaumont Rural Roots Market on Saturday 24th August, so going to see how much new stock I can make before then.
Got through trimming and sealing yesterday's cabochons, then making some more from the earlier Mod Podged pages, including some from a couple of my favorite Little Golden Books I had as a child.
Tomorrow, if my Amazon order arrives early enough, I'll glue some more designs, if not I think I'll do some block printing :)
As usual, if you see something you like, let me know and I'll fast-track getting it up on Etsy for you!
Almost went to bed to feel sorry for myself becuase cramps, but was a Big Boi TM and started processing some more of the comics and children's books I already have to make more necklaces! A very productive afternoon!
Coming soon necklaces, pins, and keychain include:
Scooby-Doo
Assorted Disney
Looney Tunes
Wonder Woman (heavily requested)
Sesame Street
Did a mix of Mod Podging some comics/children's books, and applying cabochons to some already Mod Podged pages :D
See anything you like, feel free to message me and I'll add them to Etsy asap for you!
Despite being rained out early, I enjoyed the Calmar Market on Main today!
Tried a new configuration and started putting my extra necklaces onto the new display cards :D
I'm kind of stupid happy about how these came out!
I wanted to do a simple print onto the display cards I'm going to start putting my necklaces on. Just to, you know, make them look nicer than plain kraft paper. Decided to colour march the little green paper bags I have for sales, and close match the brown of the kraft card, and I could not be more pleased with the results.
They're not perfect prints but they don't have to be. Also printed onto some notebooks and greeting cards, plus a trial print onto wood (promising results with some more experimentation).
I've set up a self inking stamp with the Etsy store account name on it I'll stamp onto the backs, and have little adhesive pockets to tuck the necklace chains into. Pretty excited to roll the spinner out next market with them on it!
Next market will be the Calmar Market on Main, on Friday 4pm-8pm. If your in the area come by and let me know you came from Tumblr for a little gift!
If you've every been curious about my of so professional printing set-up...tada! Welcome to my living room floor xD
Below is a list of all thr tools I use:
Glass pallet for rolling out ink
Red Baron Speedball Baren
Rounded wooden barens
Soft and medium runner rollers
Silicone mat
Parchment/baking paper
Airtight containers for mixed shades
Silicone mixing sticks
Silicone squeegies (clean-up)
Hand cover book (pressing surface)
Speedball Fabric Block Printing Ink
Clothes drying rack
Clean-up bucket and brush
Evaporation bucket (don't wash the ink down the sink).
Iron (to heat set)
I think that's everything?
Also here is are the first layer of my new monstera prints :D Hoping to attend the Calmar Friday marker, but depends if I can get the afternoon off work...
Last Devon market for the summer, and it turned out such a nice day!
All but the chains are done!
Other than some oopsies with the gluing of the cabochons, I'm really happy with how he's came out :D
I'll have them at the Devon Downtown Market tomorrow (Saturday, 10 August), and if any catch anyone's eye, send we a message and we can organise a sale through Etsy.
A sliced knuckle later, all the cabochons have been trimmed, cleaned up, and had more Mod Podge added to the back to seal the comic paper from thr stronger glue used to secure them to their settings :)
Tomorrow they become necklaces!
Update on new the Star Trek necklaces!
Just finished applying all the glass cabochons to the comic pages. Its been literal years since making these necklaces and I definitely over glued some of them so a fair few will have bubbles/warping. Oh well.
The glue might dry by tomorrow afternoon so I can coat the back to seal them...time will tell. Doing it all on a bit of a tight schedule so they're ready by Saturday for the last Devon Downtown Market. I'll also be listing them on my Etsy once I get a day to do a photoshoot :)
Despite intending to do some block printing today with my new monstera leaf carvings, I ended up Mod Podging a Star Trek comic in preparation for making some new comic book necklaces.
I got a request for a Star Trek necklace from another vendor last market, so figured I'd just process a bunch on pendants from the Star Trek comic I have on hand.
