thinking about ava after a particularly bad day...
perhaps a conference gone wrongânot a surprise, yet it still had an impact on her fragile reputation. valentina organized press conferences almost every day with the excuse of people needing to know the new avengers better and with the hopes of making them gain credibility.
now, ava was smart. she had been trained to understand high value missions and, at one point, it was her purpose. so, she couldn't understand why such simple questions paralyzed her or why her mind didn't seem to process the letters written on a piece of paper.
in another time. this would've been enough to shut everyone in her life outâmomentarilyâ, because god help whoever saw ava starr in a vulnerable position. however, you were now in her life, and shutting you out was something she tried her best not to do.
words weren't her thing; actions were better. in the safety of your apartment, her body found yours automaticallyâarms tightly wrapped around your waist, head buried in your neck. she let you comfort her, allowed herself to be taken care of, knowing you wouldn't judge her.
when she eventually managed to say just how stupid the reason she got upset wasâphrasing it exactly like thatâ, she let you scold her. it was soft, though, the way you tried to get her to understand feeling things wasn't stupid. she wasn't used to making mistakes and the strange sensation that coursed through her body after making one was still unfamiliar to her.
but she was learning and, according to you, that mattered.
the rest of the day went by with your girlfriend holding onto you like a lifeline. when night came, the two of you finally got out of bed just to order chinese foodâand ava's complaint about how terrible it was while having her mouth full of noodles was a routine you never got tired of.
moments like this made ava realize why being alone wasn't always the answer. despite valentina, despite her team of lovable idiots, you made life worth trying.

‷ cw: implied smut, meant to be pre-s1!cate, maybe a bit ooc!cate (hopefully not, idk lol), short drabble.
ââââââââââââââââââââââ
it was no secret how touch-starved cate wasâshe wasn't subtle, why would she? why would she hide how much she wanted you? how much she needed you around?
it was weird, at first; having to walk around campus while feeling so clingy towards youâwhile the only thing on her mind was to sneak into your dorm and finally have you all to herselfâ, though the nerves and slight embarrassment died down when you reassured her you loved that part of her.
cate dunlap needed that love, and it meant the world coming from you.
so, every day at night, she was with youâcuddled and wrapped around your body like she belonged there. whether you guys were watching something, making out, or simply enjoying each others' presence, she lived for intimate moments with you. she lived for feeling your hands on her body, your skin against hers, and wished she could have her bare fingers around yours.
she could, obviously, cate dunlap could do anything if she truly put her mind into it, but she was terrified. despite how many times you had talked about itâabout her powers, about her trauma, about her not being a monsterâ, it still wasn't enough to calm her troubled mind.
not until one night, where your lips wouldn't leave hers no matter what, where your palms slowly roamed over every part of her sensitive body. when your digits faintly brushed against the hem of her long, black gloves, she frozeâgoosebumps covering her skinâ. you felt the stare of her gorgeous blue eyes the moment you broke the kiss, heart pounding at the mixture of desire and hesitation visible in her orbs.
you would never push cate to do anything she didn't want to, yet the words "i trust you, can i?" left your swollen lips without doubt. sure, she was the most attractive girl you had ever seenâher body moved with calculated precision, her voice sounded like sin and paradiseâ, but sex with her had never been on the top of your to-do list.
you got your reply as she leaned in again, pressing her lips against yours delicatelyâfearful, vulnerable. she was opening up to you in a way she had never done with anyone else, not even herself. to believe she could control herself, especially in such a situation, was something she had trouble even thinking about.
but she knew she could rely on you, she knew she could trust you, and you had always been the one to hold power over her rather than the other way aroundâwhich was usually what happenedâ.
you took your timeâyou allowed her to warm up before undressing her, you took pleasure in kissing every part of her flesh and listening attentively to her little reactions. and when there was no trace of hesitation left in her eyes, you tenderly pulled the fine gloves down her forearm, exposing her pale skin.
cate's new life hadn't been easy, but you were the best thing to had ever happened to herâand that night, where she was finally allowed to crumble, you only proved even more how perfect you were.
she just hoped she wouldn't fuck it up.

.ᣠthe effect you have on ava.
‷ cw: fluff, short.
ââââââââââââââââââââââ
i just know ava starr loves cookingâbut cooking with you? there was nothing better than that.
maybe it wasn't even considered cooking with you because she didn't really help most of the times, she simply stayed glued to your backâher arms wrapped around your waist, forehead pressed against the back of your headâ. it made you wonder how she doesn't cramp up after staying like that for so long.
the only disadvantage was when you needed to blend something. her senses were too heightened to be considered a benefit, so the loud buzzing quickly became a botherâthe reason for a bad mood and a deadly headacheâ.
sure, she had a pair of high-quality, noise-cancelling ear plugs you got her the moment you noticed how affected she was by harsh noises, but she was too proud and stubborn to wear them. or well, that was until she once accidentally lashed out at you and then phased away.
she was already aware of how she didn't deserve youâand those little moments of hers were only a reminder of how you deserved to be with someone whose emotions were more stable. you were more than willing and patient to wait for the time where she could regulate herself properly, and obviously offer her the help she neededâand she would accept it, surprisingly, because you were everything she had.
so, when she slipped out of her room one cold morning and pressed herself against your backâa routine her body already followed automaticallyâ, she immediately mumbled: "that won't happen again..."
well, her words weren't exactly mumbled.
she spoke louder than neededâand her proximity only made her sweet voice rumble in your ears even more. so, when you turned around, the first thing you noticed was the little silicones poking out of her ears.
"are you...?" you questioned softly, a bright smile quickly forming on your lips at the realization that she was, indeed, wearing the ear plugs.
ava didn't hear a word of what you said but she understood what you meant thanks to her ability of reading lipsâsomething she learned during lovely childhoodâ.
she simply nodded her head before moving her hands to hold your hips and turn you around again, burying her head on your shoulder and focusing on whatever you were makingâignoring the feelings coursing through her bodyâ.
the impact you had on her was goodâand ava starr deserved to finally have some good in her life.

.ᣠyou and ava meet at one of valentina's events, though you didn't know who she actually was at first.
‷ cw: foreign!reader, probably a bad description of cooking skills and kitchen stuff đ

ᯠ4.7k words
ââââââââââââââââââââââ
christmas in the united states... what a beautyâespecially in new york.
the snow, the cheerful yet busy atmosphere, the occasional laughs sounding here and there. god, it made you forget how many assholes lived in the big apple.
sadly, your visit had been nothing but stressful. you were hired by a woman named valentina allegra de fontaine to cook, plus help supervise everything related to the kitchen, for this charity event she was organizingânot a huge deal for you, you were used to itâ; the only thing you were complaining about was how little time she gave you.
you had worked with these types of events before but damn, having only two days to cook for so many people and arrange everything?
at least you were getting payed real good.
the first day was a messâit seemed like you were the only competent person in the whole place. it was painfully obvious it was the servers' first time covering for an event like this and you were the one who needed to teach them how to properly do everything right.
you barely spent any time in the kitchen the first hours yet you trusted the people you had been assigned to work with and hoped they would've done their jobs.
they didn't, not really.
the dishes you had in mind were simple yet required attention and details, and being a perfectionist meant you had to deal with the constant worry and anxiety that came along with making sure everything was... well, perfect.
you shared to your team the menu before finally getting to work, and you quickly found out how tiring sharing a surprisingly small kitchen with seven chefs wasâand the head chef being an absolute dickhead definitely didn't helpâ.
thankfully, your passion for your work helped overcome the chaotic scenery, and the first day didn't end up being so terrible.
the actual terrible stuff started happening on the second day.
most of the kitchen personal called in sick and made you temporarily lose your mind, though you knew the woman that hired you was quite important so there was no way you could screw up the job. plus, for what you wereâvaguelyâexplained, this was also a charity event for the american people to "properly meet their new heroes".
whatever. you simply took a small breakâtime was short, but releasing some of that tension was your only priority at the moment. you felt a cold little breeze when you stepped out of the kitchen and took the elevator all the way down to the main floor of the building.
there, you were met with several people setting up all types of beautiful decorations for the event, and also a group of five very forced-to-be-there group of individuals. if those were the new heroes, you wanted nothing to do with them.
so you quietly turned around and headed back to the elevatorâbreak was over. you accidentally bumped into a woman on your way back, a small grunt leaving her lips at the contact.
"i'm sorry! i didn't watch where i was going." you quickly apologized, looking at her with slightly widened and apologetic eyes. "it's alright." the stranger replied, brushing her hands over her neat suit to smooth it out as if you had wrinkled it.
your eyes scanned over her figureâbriefly admiring those green eyes of hers, though feeling a bit shy to properly look at her face, before your gaze fell down to her fancy suit.
shit, a waitress.
they weren't supposed to be here today and you didn't remember her from the previous day's training, but that didn't matter to you. you were going to need all the assistance available.
"i need your help." the words left your lips faster than your brain could really process whether it'd be a good idea to have someone as inexperienced as her helping you out in the kitchen.
in another time, ava would had simply dismissed youâbut she was a hero now, and heroes helped civilians. "what is it?" she asked, trying her best not to sigh loudly and smack herself in the face for the decision she just took.
"please, come with me." you said before walking to the elevator and clicking the button, loving how little time it took for the metal doors to open.
an odd silence followed as you both stepped into the elevator. it was uncomfortableâafter all, you didn't know her and she didn't know youâbut intriguing, at the same time.
when the doors opened once again, you turned your head to look at the woman before whispering a soft. "c'mon..."
ava's expression shifted to one of concern as she walked behind you into the kitchen, her body stiffening at the loud noises created by the pans and the culinary hurry going on.
"i've never been able to cook." she simply admitted, looking at you like a kicked puppy who was trying to be tough. you knew this was going to happen so you managed to hide your exasperated reaction from her.
"i'll teach you, i just really need help." you basically pleaded, interlocking your fingers with hers and giving her hand a light squeeze.
now, ava wasn't a touchy personâwell, she was, but not with people she barely knewâbut your warmth didn't seem to bother her. it was a bit of a shock, at first, but she didn't pull away and she didn't turn her back on your request.
"alright." she quietly gave in, and so her new job started.
you obviously made her throughly wash her hands first and watched her every moveâhow she awkwardly wetted only her fingers before cupping the water in her palmsâ.
you quickly spoke up and indicated her how to properly wash her hands, and that's where the woman finally allowed the warmish water to fall from her forearms to her twitchy digits. next, you told her to apply quite an amount of soapâbecause only god knew where those hands had beenâand then vigorously scrubbed between her fingers, under her fingernails, and under the wrists.
even if she was a bit done with doing so much effort for such a simple thing, she listened and followed instructions; which made you believe the next hours cooking with her wouldn't be so hard.
"what's next?" she asked in that strong british accent of hers as she patted her hands dry with some paper towels, looking a bit more comfortable im the situation she found herself in. "now, we cook." you simply replied, offering her a small smile before also washing your hands.
the two of you walked to the main area afterwards and you tied your apron around your waist. "do you people actually wear those?" the woman behind you asked, looking at you with her eyebrow lightly raised.
"uh, yeah?" youâconfusedlyâanswered, not really understanding why she pointed it out. "alright..." she whispered before chuckling under her breath.
ava tried not to focus too much on the others chefs who were actually cooking but rather on you, and doing so caused a weird feeling to settle in her stomachâalmost as if she wanted to puke, but in a good way?
she chose to ignore it.
after you forced herâaccording to herâto also wear an apron, claiming you didn't want her 'cute suit' to get ruined, it was finally time for her to put on practice the little cooking skills she had.
you were in charge of making the starter and one of the sidesâand now that you were truly thinking about it, you may had overreacted a little. you were going to accept the help, though, because you still needed everything to go according to plan.
also, you were sure this woman would punch you or something if you told her you didn't need her assistance anymore.
"okay." you started, taking a deep breath before continuing: "we'll start with the chestnut soup. it's easy, in theory, but a bit tricky in practice." you commented.
"whatever, justâlet's get to it." she said.
you guided her to the prep table and held back a laugh at her reactionâeyeing the large bowl of chestnuts as if she had never seen them beforeâ.
"we need to score them before boiling them, otherwise they'll be really hard to peel." you told her before grabbing the special knife from your knife roll.
you grabbed one of the chestnuts with your free hand and gave her a demonstration, carefully carving an x into its belly and then placing it onto the baking tray. "try it." you suggested, handling her the knife and looking over at her with a small smile.
she took the knife from youâignoring how her fingers twitched as she brushed against your skinâbefore picking up a chestnut and trying to mimic your previous action, though not managing to do so correctly.
"hold on." you quickly stopped her after noticing the amount of strength she was using. "like this..." you then added, reaching over so you could guide her motionsâyour hand covering hersâ.
you noticed how her body quickly tensed, how her spine straightened, and it made you realize just how close the two of you were nowâyet you tried to ignore it and the feelings it bloomed in you.
it didn't take long for ava to adjust and copy your movement with precision. when she looked over at you after finishing a clean cut, you could see a hint of pride flicking in her green gaze.
"that was better." you celebrated as you moved away from her.
after that little moment you both had, you continued workingâshe rapidly took the hang of scoring the chestnuts and you simply supervised it: not that she needed it, but just in case.
once she was done with all the chestnuts, you proceeded with putting all of them in a pot with water and some salt before letting them boil.
"okay, while those boil, we prep the base." you instructed before wiping the cutting board clean with a paper towel. "shallots, carrots, celery. we want them diced small enough to cook evenly." you added, subtly analyzing how painfully silent she was.
she simply nodded her head, her fingers drumming against the handle of the knife as she took notice of your staringâbut didn't comment on it. ava hated when people stared at her and she never once failed to point it out, yet there was something about your gaze that didn't make her feel as uncomfortable as others did.
she got snapped from her thoughts as a pan suddenly fell down onto the floorâher hand releasing the knife from its grip and a wince escaping her lips. a pained expression covered her face, her jaw clenching as her ears rang.
"are you okay?" you quickly asked her, concern cursing through your body at the woman's reaction. "mhm." was her replyâthough it sounded more like a groan.
"that's... quite the hearing, eh?" you couldn't help but crack a little joke some seconds later. sure, the sound had been loud, but it didn't cause more than a jolt in you.
"right..." she dismissed, a hint of confusion creeping in her tone of voice. even if the west chesapeake valley thunderbolts haven't had many interviews, the american people were starting to get familiar with her superpower/disabilityâwhich included her heightened sensesâ.
she was well aware you weren't american but stillâyou must had heard of her, right?
the realization of you not knowing her hit her fast and it was suddenly pretty obviousâwho the hell would ask her for help with cooking? she wasn't going to ask you if you knew who she was, though, she hadn't reached that level of cockiness yet.
besides, she liked how you treated her as if she was a normal person rather than a superior being; how you weren't afraid of her.
the two of you continued cookingâshe helped you dice the shallots, carrots, and celery so you could fry them. being the observant person that she was, she noted how your movements were extra calculated, quieter, though she couldn't bring herself to believe you did that for her.
after the veggies were soft and you had added the vegetable stock, some salt and pepper, a bit of thyme, some bay leafs, and the chestnuts she helped peelâwhich she claimed she would never do so again because of their consistencyâ, it was time to wait twenty minutes.
what were you supposed to do?
"i'm ava." she introduced herself abruptly, finding the fact that she hadn't told you her name a bit funny.
"ava... that's a nice name." you spoke, glancing at her softly as you stirred the pot, and it was even nicer to finally have a name for the woman who had been consuming your thoughts for the past time. "do i not get to know yours?" she asked you, leaning against the table while fidgeting with her fingers.
you shot her a small smirkânot knowing where you got confident enough to mess with herâbefore replying. "mhm no, not really." the words left your lips as if you were talking with your dearest friend.
"bitch." and those words left her own lips before she could even think them properly. that happened to ava a lotâapparently, she didn't have a filterâbut she thought she was getting better with her social skills.
by the look of your laugh, it appeared you didn't mind.
those twenty minutes went by way faster than she had expectedâthe kitchen filled with the sound of your voices and occasional laughsâ, and she was sure no one had ever made her talk as much as you did.
"why don't you give it one last stir while i look for the blender, mhm?" you proposed, a familiar warmth surging over you as her body lightly pressed against yours before she took the ladle from your hand.
you tried your best to clear your mind as you walked away from her but also trying to understand why she was making you feel so many thingsâand even if it was obvious, you didn't want to admit itâ. you moved a lot thanks to your job, you didn't have an established home, so relationships had always been tricky.
once you came back, you noticed how hot she wasânot that type of hot. she was sweating a lot and she was clearly a bit desperate. "this bloody heat..." you heard her mumble out.
"woah, you are so british." you joked as you connected the immersion blender. "and you're soâ... whatever you are." she tried to shoot back yet failed miserably. your accent was there but she couldn't exactly tell where you were from.
after rolling your eyes at her comment, you allowed ava to momentarily step out of the kitchen as you blended the soup and, even if a stubborn part of her wanted to denied, she ended up taking your offer.
it took you some minutes to completely pureé it and add some heavy cream before you set it aside to cool so you could pack it for tomorrow's event, and you then decided to join ava outside.
"now we only need to make the dessert. though i'm sure i can finish it by myself if you're feeling done." you exclaimed as you walked to her side, wiping your palms against your apron. "i believe i can handle your presence for a bit more." she answered in a sarcastic tone before laughing under her breath.
"ah, i'm glad to hear that." there was a lot of truth in what you were sayingâyou liked her presence and that was something you rarely felt in the kitchen.
a comfortable silence fell around you, though ava wanted to hear more of your voice and your unknown accent. "do you like this? your job." she asked, looking at you with pure curiosity.
"i do. i had never worked for an event like this, though." your reply was honest and you let out a tired laugh once you were finish speaking. her curious expression shifted into a more confused one, clearly expecting you to explain what you meant with 'an event like this'.
"i usually keep my distance withâ... anything related to heroes." you explained, biting back a scoff, and that was when something changed in ava's demeanor.
she wasn't madâshe didn't even see herself as a heroâbut rather intrigued by what you meant. and, well, maybe worried about what you would think of her once you found out who she truly was.
"and why's that?" she questioned you, silently bracing herself for the answer you were about to give her. "don't get me wrong, i get they're important. but don't you think they also bring destruction to whatever place they're in?" you explained and also asked, your hands moving around as if to emphasized your point.
"and their ego has to grow every time they do some good, and doesn't that eventually affect how they see us humans?" you added, not giving ava time to answer to your previous argument.
she felt relieved the moment she heard your words because she agreed with youâthough she also felt like quite the hypocrite. she nodded her head, gesturing understanding while also giving you space to continue if you had more to say.
you didn't and she was a little glad, not knowing what to respond if you would've spoken more about the topic. she simply agreed with you before allowing silence to reign, still having no clue of what else to say.
ava was the one to, later on, suggest going back to the kitchen, and this conversation didn't seem to change a lot in the little friendship you two were building.
the next dish required some patience and, thankfully, the british woman knew a thing or two about patience.
normally, you wouldn't have left someone as untrained as her to help you make a risotto, but you trusted her and knew she'd follow your instructions.
she helped you chop the mushrooms and observed as you sautĂ©d them. once you started with the arborio rice, she offered to stir the mushrooms so you could freely take care of the rice. you realized that her eyes weren't always focused on the panâbut rather on you, in a steady way that made your chest tighten.
you were having troubles focusing. whether it was thanks to her not-subtle, occasional staring, the tender brushing of your hands, that taunting accent of hers. every word that left those plush lips of hers... god, it was killing youâshe was killing you and she didn't even realize.
it was so unprofessional of you but what were you supposed to do?
for the next minutes, you kept quietâor tired to, at leastâ, resulting in your banter slowly coming to an end. you remained close, though, close enough so your shoulders were faintly touching.
when you were finally finished, neither of you knew what was supposed to happen next. was that it? were you meant to simply say your goodbyes and part ways? you could do so, but you didn't want to.
"why don't you try it?" you broke the silence, your eyes tender as they settled on her faceâno longer feeling shy to look at herâ. ava found a spoon and looked at you before dipping it in the pot, almost as if she was asking for permission. when you smiled, she took that as a 'go on'.
the woman closed her eyes and let out the softest little sound you had ever heard as her taste buds got used to the flavor. ava had never tried it and she had never intended to, especially not thanks to its unappealing texture, but knowing you cooked itâwith her helpâmade her forget about her hesitation.
"it's good, right?" you asked her, your voice a mere whisper. it was as if the world around you had toned down, caging you in an oddly intimate space she didn't mind being in. "it's good..." was her reply, and she had never been as honest as she was being in that moment.
the two of you cleaned up and left the building, your pinkies brushing with every step you both took.
the freezing cold gave you and ava quite the welcoming as you stepped out into the street, your breath turning into faint clouds that curled in the air. you shivered, tugging your coat tighter around yourself, but beside you, ava didnât seem to mind the chill at all.
goddamned brits and their immunity to shitty weather. you thought, yet didn't mention it out loudâyou had made enough jokes about the britishâ.
"thank you for ehâ... helping me out." you exclaimed, turning to look at her. the scene was straight out of a movieâchristmas lights hung between buildings, storefronts decorated with ribbonsâ. for once, new york wasnât polluted and noisy; it almost felt⊠flawless.
and she was the icing on the cake.
"i had to." she replied, a hint of humor detectable in her wordsâbut there was still trace of that previous honesty.
"maybeâ" she started but cut herself off to gain some confidence. "maybe you could return the favor and help me out tomorrow?" she asked, her thumb's fingernail digging into the tip of her index finger.
"i would love that." you took some of that confidence radiating from ava's body for your reply.
âââââ ââââ
the next day came fastâway too fast.
you woke to the sharp sound of your phone alarm, your body heavy with exhaustion but your mind alert. even if it was pretty late, you were still dead tiredâyet the thought of getting to see ava again made everything a bit less unbearable.
you usually didn't stay for the actual events because that wasn't your job, but you gave ava your word and you weren't going to leave her alone. all you hopes was for her to feel the same way you did.
and oh, did she feel the same way.
ava's mind was consumed by you since the moment she stepped foot into the watchtower the night before, and she immediately locked herself in her room so none of the others would notice her off behaviorâbecause she knew she wasn't acting right.
ava knew what love was but she didn't know how to accept it; how to consider herself worth of such feeling. how could she drag you into the mess her life was? how could she drag you into the dangers being with someone like her included?
she couldn't sleep that night.
she got woken up by none other than john walker's fists banging again her doorâcausing her to nearly phase through the floorâ. apparently, valentina wanted to have a 'quick' talk with the team about how they needed to present themselves in front of all the media and guests at the event, and she had never wanted to punch someone as bad as she did during those endless hours.
the thunderbolts a.k.a. the new avengers were, obviously, the first ones to arrive, and she was already counting down the minutes to see you again. she knew you were upstairs with your own team and a part of her thought about sneaking out and paying you a visit, but she chose to ignore such eager idea.
when people started showing up, she tried her best to hide how terrified she was. she had never been good with crowdsâlet alone crowds interacting with herâ, but she couldn't allow them to see how panicked she was. she stuck to yelena's side the whole time, knowing the russian woman wouldn't say a word about her conduct.
the hours passed and she wanted nothing more but leaveâand in that moment, she saw your face among the river of people. you looked as gorgeous as you did yesterday, maybe even a bit more despite your exhausted shape.
she was ready to walk away from the current conversation she was in and go to youâhell, she was ready to phase in front of youâbut then it hit her: you still didn't know who she was. that was if you hadn't seen the big posters that included her decorating the front of the building when you got there.
you did.
at first, you thought it was just a game your mind was playing on youâwere you supposed to believe such an awkward social being was one of america's new hero? but when you asked around, everybody confirmed that she indeed was, a hero.
the infamous ghost.
it didn't change your feelings for herâit only made you feel like the biggest idiot ever. you had always been such a smart girl, always knew things about the topics you criticized, so how come you had never heard of her? jesus, you almost left town the second you were done cooking; and when your gaze met hers, you wanted the earth to swallow you whole.
the man talking with her stopped mid sentence as ava literally started walking awayâignoring everyone's reactionâ, wanting to talk to you and try to give you whatever explications you may ask for.
you froze as you noticed what she was doing because:
a) you just found out who she actually was after you treated her like a normal person for a full day.
b) she looked hotâthis time it was that type of hot.
she looked gorgeous, breath taking, and it was making your heart beat faster and your palms to sweat. she was using a gray suit with a gray tieâno longer looking like a waitressâ. the mere thought of confusing her for a server made you cringe.
"hi." her voice brought you back to reality. she was standing in front of you, pupils so dilated they were nearly blown out.
"hey." were the only words you could voice before you cleared your throat and starting rambling. "i-i'm sorryâabout yesterday. it's obvious i didn't know who you were and i truly apologize for that, for treating you like that."
hearing your apology made ava roll her eyes and she quickly put an end to itâbecause she could tell you were about to say moreâ. "quit it." her tone was serious because she couldn't bare having you being afraid of her.
"iâ... didn't mind." she still sucked at properly expressing her emotions, but she hoped you could understand how much she meant those words.
you stayed silent, too embarrassed to even look into her eyesâthe same eyes you were already obsessed with.
she took a deep breath and looked away from you for a moment, trying to find a comfortable way in which she could let you know how you were making her feel. "i don't think i've ever been treated so... normal. i like that..." she mumbledâas if it was something forbidden, something only you were allowed to ever hearâ.
i like you. were the three words she was dying to let out, but they kept getting stuck in the middle of her throat, but they didn't get stuck on yours.
"i like you. is that okay?" you revealed and asked, feeling weird about being so attracted to someone you barely knew. you noticed her jaw clenching for a second before it quickly relaxed againâjust like the rest of her bodyâand that had been the only moment of peace ava had experienced that whole day.
"it is." she replied, taking a small step closer to you and wetting her lips as the scent of your perfume invaded her nostrils. "i still don't know your name, though." she mentioned, but she didn't find it weirdâafter all, what part of her wasn't weird?
"well... maybe you'll get my name if you see me after you're finished with this." you teased, trying to hold back a smile from forming on your lips as her brows furrowed. "meet me at the rockefeller center christmas tree, okay?" you then explained, ready to walk away before her hand on your forearm stopped you.
"i'm not sure when i'll be done." she warned you, not wanting you to wait for too long in the cold. her grip on you was softâalmost scared of hurting you.
"lucky for you, i have all the time in the world, ava." you told her before leaning in and placing a little kiss on the corner of her mouth, the action causing her body to heat up beneath her suit and her grip to loosen.
she was whipped.
