Hello there!
This may not look like the things I use to do, right? I'm working on a puzzle game for my final thesis at college. Basically you'll need to use those tiles on the sides (all of them) to make a path from start to finish. (this one may look hard, because is the hardest difficulty, heh, there are smaller versions).
The second picture is a solved easy map :)
Hello tumblr! I'm still alive! Here's a bear I made for Crossing Souls. I designed some characters and enemies for the game, maybe they will show up from time to time here. You can find some cool pics of their game too. BTW, you should also follow their tumblr.

This background is closer to the one I have in mind, but it will be changed eventually, it looks still too flat.
I made this because I didn't want the other boring background to make bad first impressions for the screenshotsaturday.
A lot of things happened and I'm forced to put this project on hold. I don't want to work on this just two hours a week. I like to have a lot of time working on it if I want every aspect to be consistent. I expect to be working on this again around July, if everything goes as planned.
Nontheless, I'll keep colaborating on another project that is not that time-consuming. Maybe you'll see a reblog with stuff that In worked on one of these days.
I just posted this on twitter, but I just realized that I don't want anybody's first impressions to be affected by the horrible and boring background.
I'm going to work on it as soon as I can. Let's see If I can make pixel art backgrounds or not!

First steps! (Literally)
First of all, the background is just a placeholder, it's ok if it doesn't look good right now, I didn't want to start working on this project with a plain blue background. This is just a sketch of what I think the background will look like.
I finally started working with unity :D While I was making the animations I knew that there would be a few things that may would be tricky to implement, but it turns out that unity let me do them easily >:) Having the torso and the legs move in sync was easy!
The user input controller script is implemented (and the legs animation controller script too). I think that a game like this needs a tight control, and I really hope that what I want to do ends up being fun. I will make a post dedicated to the controls once I implement more moves, all I'll say for now is that the main idea of the control is to allow players to move the character smoothly if they are good enough.
So far the only mapped controls are the ones for the normal steps, and they trigger just as I wanted! What I need to do now is adjust the stride distance, and enable the possibility of a slightly bigger stride when holding the second key press.
I can't wait to show you a playable movement demo!
30 Animations completed, 24 to go. Some of them are just a couple of frames, though.
The basic movement of the player is animated. I'm going to start coding now, so I can get some kind of movement demo running as soon as possible.
I'll work on the rest of the movement animations later on. This animation is the transition between the first stance and it's defense position :)
This is an animation made using different chunks of the player animation. The legs and the rest of the body are independent. I want to make it possible to attack and to get into stances whether you are moving or not.
There's no attack animation here, only transitions between two stances (well, actually between stances and idle position, there will be smooth animations to change from stance to stance later on). There are about 4 frames of one of the "subtle" stances too.
I used 9 different animations to compose this, and I finished 15 out of 51 animations so far... which means that there is a LOT to do yet.

I felt like sharing the mockups for the logo, name and controls of the game. To me is impossible to start working seriously before I have all the moves and mechanics sorted out. About the logo... well I spent a couple days polishing the mechanics and just wanted to relax a bit. I can focus on the animations now.
Oh, and yes, I know that "substance" makes no sense.
