Taika Waititi has made Oscars history.
At the 92nd Academy Awards, the “Jojo Rabbit” writer-director-actor took the prize for adapted screenplay. This makes Waititi the first person of Māori descent to win an Oscar. He was the first ever indigenous person to be nominated in the category. (x)
The name Niue translates as "behold the coconut". It was formerly known as Niue-fekai (Savage Island) as a result of an acrimonious meeting in 1774 between Colonizer Thief Rapist Disease Palagi James Cook and local natives. It is now popularly called "The Rock of Polynesia".

Who the Heck calls them "parson birds"?!
The Polynesian Cultural Center’s next, with representative areas covering Samoa, Fuji, Hawaii, Tonga etc. on the premise.
Photo opportunities aplenty if you scout around the park. A huge change compared to my last visit some 35 years ago! The jokes dished out by each independent islands’ highlight shows were really funny, reminding me of those delivered by comical dinner shows in Tennessee.
You want “Samoa” (Some more)?
